2010 Volkswagen Golf GTI by Je Design

The German tuner, Je Design, is coming at us with a new tuning conversion for the Volkswagen Golf GTI . The main idea behind the project was to offer the same amount of power as the Golf R , but also to improve the car’s aerodynamics and individual look.

The 2.0-liter turbo engine has been tuned to deliver a total of 270 HP (up from the standard 210 HP) and a peak torque of 370 NM (instead of the usual 280 NM). The result is a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 159 mph.

The aerodynamic package includes a new front spoiler with the central, carbon-look spoiler sword, new side skirts, new rear skirt insert in carbon-look, and trapezoid, stainless steel sports end pipes. The package is finished by 19" matte black, light alloy wheels Multispoke with the matte silver edge trim.

Overall, we think this is a much better package for the Golf GTI then the anticlimactic package given to the GTI by Weitec . Weitec only allotted for changes to the suspension and the addition of Lambo doors, which are just silly without some sort of boost in speed. JE Design was able to provide the added edge to the look of the vehicle while also playing with the engine a little bit making their tuning kit much more rounded and ideal for the serious Golf lover.

Up to now, whoever wanted to get behind the wheel of a 270-hp VW Golf had to invest more than 36,000 Euro in a Golf R . But now JE DESIGN provides the same performance for the Golf GTI. What’s more, the aerodynamics package and the light alloy wheels take care of the individual look, and the new rear silencer provides the sporty sound.

JE DESIGN boosts the Golf VI GTI’s performance by more than a quarter. Instead of 210 hp (155 kW), the 2.0-litre turbo motor now produces a full 270 hp (199 kW). The maximum torque rockets from 280 to 370 Newton metres, and now the Wolfsburg car reaches a top speed of 257 kph, up from its previous 240 kph. From a standing start the JE DESIGN Golf saves half a second and makes it to the 100-kph mark in only 6.4 seconds.

JE DESIGN offers optimisation of the engine control system in their own workshop in Leingarten, Germany or collects the dismantled engine control unit by courier and returns it on the following day. The price of 1549 Euro including VAT even includes a one-year warrantee on the motor, turbo-charger, gearbox and drivetrain. For vehicles less than two years old and which have driven fewer than 100,000 kilometres, an extension for a further year can be arranged for only 199 Euro.

The GTI by JE DESIGN with the self-confident aerodynamics package demonstrates the new performance capability. The new front spoiler with the central, carbon-look spoiler sword is available for as little as 349 Euro. The side skirts for 299 Euro also underline the sporty look and the rear skirt insert in carbon-look for only 249 Euro. On the left and right sides, the trapezoid, stainless steel sports endpipes provide the relevant resonance (899 Euro).

Thanks to the lowering springs for 159 Euro, the Golf sits 35 millimetre closer to the tarmac. Consequently the 8x19-inch, matt black, light alloy wheels Multispoke with the matt silver edge trim look particularly sporty. With size 225/35 high-performance tyres, JE DESIGN offers the complete wheel set for a mere 2930 Euro.

As is normal with JE DESIGN, all components come with a TÜV Certificate so that the modifications can be registered in the vehicle’s documents without further ado.

I kinda hate the red color used here, instead of shallow or light red it would it been better if it’s darker red.

Where’s the development? It was just the same from others. I cannot see its upgraded parts nor changes made from this unit. Sigh, this was not impressive at all.

Ugly red volks! Sorry for my term but I really hate the color. Am I too sarcastic? Mico, you are right, we have different opinions.

The GTD’s 0-60 time is little more than a second slower than the equivalent GTI and puffs out at 140mph as opposed to 150. But it gets 15mpg more than the GTI and will get you almost 180 miles further on a tankful of fuel. Now, in the real world you weigh up the options.

So it’s not a ’GTI R’ at all as title suggests but a ’GTI’ uprated to that of an ’R’!

The best thing here is the diamond stitching seats.

This Camaro is from the eighties, a time when it has been noted that GM was not producing a whole lot of muscle.

The only thing excessive about the GTI is how many frigin’ variants of the Golf do we really need?

wow.. what a cool car, red is really stunniing color specially in a sports nimble car like this.

like the way other said, the golf GTI looks more menacing and aggressive than the ford Focus RS. I love it...
