Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is known for being one of the most versatile all-purpose SUVs out in the market but none of us could have ever thought that it could be used like how filmmaker/musician Julian Smith used it.

In a joint collaboration with an “automotive band”, Smith used a Jeep Cherokee – and a lot of the car’s parts – as one big musical instrument. You name it, it was probably used. Doors, engine, locks, and a host of other parts of the Cherokee were used to create a harmonic techno sound.

The whole performance didn’t come without hours of practice, though. The band spent two weeks practicing and another seven hours of shooting to complete the whole video. It was a though exercise in patience and coordination, but the final product truly does speak for itself.

Lately we have been hearing a lot more about the German based Mopar tuners at Startech with their new line of fast Jaguars and luxurious Range Rovers , but now they are getting back to what it was that made them famous, improving upon Chrysler creations. This time the lucky ride to undergo the Startech treatment is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland by Startech

As it comes from the factory, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the perfect blend of go anywhere off road vehicle and civilized five door people mover; but with the help of Startech, Chrysler’s somewhat weak interiors are no longer an issue. On the outside, the German tuner has added a sense of style to the rather mundane Cherokee with a more aggressive chin spoiler and a pair of integrated strips of LED lit driving lights up front. Tying the front an rear of the vehicle together are a pair of oversized side skirts that meet up to the Overland’s redesigned rear apron complete with cutouts for the dual oval shaped Startech performance exhaust. Finishing off the Grand Cherokee’s exterior are a set of Startech’s signature Monostar IV wheels measuring 22 inches in diameter that sit a little closer to the body thanks to the Jeep’s lowered suspension.

The inside of the Startech Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is adorned with high end materials including everything from brushed aluminum to stainless steel for the more solid surfaces and supple leather to soft Alcantara that can cover every other square inch of the Grand Cherokee’s interior. Even the customizers at Startech admit that there are virtually no limits as to what they can create. Not ones to leave any stone unturned, under the hood Startech has upgraded the 3.0 Liter CRD motor to produce a maximum output of 262 HP and a very diesel friendly 427 lb-ft of torque, the perfect compliment to a more stylish and luxurious off roader.

The diesel engine’s frugal nature and the fuel’s lower price (in some markets) make it popular choice in Europe. With the rest of the world pinching our pennies, we’re going to start seeing a lot more diesel engines in the U.S.

Unfortunately for the companies bringing these new diesel cars, it may take a little education to get the U.S. to understand the new definition of a diesel engine. Gone are the days of black smoke and high-polluting; in its place is the best fuel economy going. Also gone is the loud rumbling engine; leaving almost no noise in its place. What remains from the old diesel image is the toughness. Diesel engines have fewer moving parts, operate at lower RPMs, and are historically the most reliable kind of engine out there.

One of the great places to have these torque-happy engines are trucks and SUVs. That’s why we’re taking a look at a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 with a 3.0-liter diesel engine.

Jeep launched in UK the most luxurious Grand Cherokee ever. Even the exterior and the interior changes aren’t that impressive, the new Grand Cherokee is being offered with a range of new features and a new interior.

New soft-touch interior dashboard materials, interior colours and new textures all help to make the new Grand Cherokee even more desirable while a host of new features – tilt and telescope steering column, improved steering wheel and armrests for improved ergonomics and comfort, new instrument clusters and floor console with improved cup holders – all add to the high-class ambiance.

In addition, Limited and Overland models get a new leather-wrapped parking brake handle and the Overland gets a new leather package on seats, doors and dashboard and heated second row seats.

The MyGIG infotainment system is a new option that offers owners the very latest integrated onboard systems. There’s MP3 player compatibility, a touch screen controlled navigation system as well as the ability to store up to 1600 songs on an integrated 20GB hard drive. The UConnect Hands-free Communication System uses Bluetooth technology to provide voice-activated wireless communication.

On the exterior, a new front fascia and grille surround with a new body-colour front sill and air dam give the latest Grand Cherokee a more modern look, together with a new range of alloy wheels and a new headlamp design.
