2011 Jeep Compass 70th Anniversary Edition

  Review

In celebrating the brand’s 70th anniversary, Jeep is rolling out special edition models for each of their SUVs. That’s right, all you Jeep-loving folks out there! Jeep has a special edition model coming out for the Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, and Wrangler SUVs.

All the anniversary models will be rolled out to dealerships by the first quarter of this year and will come in three different color finishes: Bronze Star, Bright Silver, and Black.

All upgrades on each of the models will only be limited to the interior set-up, which means that if you’re looking for something different on the exterior – with the exception of a few special badges and a new set of wheels - and what’s under their hood, then you’re going to be disappointed.

In any case, the anniversary editions do come with a lot of upgrades, which should make up for everything that was left status quo elsewhere.

Details on the Jeep Compass 70th Anniversary Edition after the jump.

Exterior and Interior

The Jeep Compass 70th Anniversary Edition has a bunch of special edition amenities in its exterior and interior. These include a 70th Anniversary badge, a set of 18” wheels, Dark Slate seats with perforated leather inserts embossed with the Jeep logo to go with a Chestnut accent stitching and piping, Berber floor mats and cargo area with Chestnut binding, a unique dark green cluster overlay, Chestnut stitching in the steering wheel, and another 70th Anniversary logo on the Compass SUV’s radio screen.

Performance

No performance upgrades were given to the Compass, which means that this special edition model will come with the same powertrain as the standard version. There’s a 2.0-liter World Engine that produces 158 horsepower and 141 lb/ft of torque coupled with the continuously variable transmission (CVT2) and a higher-spec model that’s powered by a 2.4-liter World Engine that produces 172-horsepower and 165 lb/ft of torque and has dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on both intake and exhaust camshafts.

Pricing

The price tag for this special edition Compass has been tagged at $24,970.

Competition

The compact SUV market is as competitive as any segment there is in the industry so the 2011 Compass already has its hands full with the Toyota Rav4, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Ford Escape. It’s a good thing that this Jeep Compass 70th Anniversary Edition has some nice additional digs that come with it.

- New interior features look amazing
- Special Edition means not a lot of people can have it
- More luxurious feel than standard version

- No performance upgrades
- Price tag doesn’t come cheap
- Apart from the badge, nothing in the exterior screams ’special edition’

It looks like the Hummer Cherokee. However, I must say that it looks better than with Hummer, and I also find it very decent and exclusive on its exterior style and design. I just only hope that its engine is really good enough on it.

Just like their original Jeep Compass, but this one had a sophisticated and classy appearance because of its sleek body paint. I’m just wondering if what will be the interior features of it looks like. And I noticed that they still didn’t improve the performance on it.

I cant feel the luxurious that they have been talking about. It look so simple and I don’t get why does it comes in high price tag!

Sorry guys, but I will not consider this jeep to buy since the performance is not that impressive and there is no upgrade in the engine..

hmm. It seems that Jeep is making a new face for their model. I think the Compass has a bit different styling even though i can still the old style for the grille. Well, it look more of a SUV rather than a regular jeep. Nonetheless, its just disappointing that they haven’t made any upgrade on the performance of the engine.

How do you call those grille? Actually, I don’t like it’s design look so cheap. And I can’t see the luxurious “feel” that they were referring. Plus, there is no upgrade in the performance of the car but its pricey!

it looks great but they forgot to include the step board and front bull bar, I like it more than the Humvee. fuel consumption is fare and the cost is also reasonable.
