The look is unmistakably Jeep, but everything else on the 2011 Grand Cherokee is a departure from the old. Outside Jeep ditched the body cladding look of the previous three generations, and has gone for a more unified appearance. It’s a combination of smooth and sharp lines that’s further accented by the reduction of the grille and headlight area. It looks almost like how Toyota would design a Jeep. Jeep wants to up play the premium SUV elements of the new Grand Cherokee. For starters, Jeep is being very vocal about the new Grand Cherokee sharing a platform with the Mercedes M-Class. Inside the layout has not changed greatly, but the materials quality has been given a big upgrade. The engine choices have now gone from five to two. The bread ’n butter engine will be the new flex-fuel flexible 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 280 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 N•m) @ 4,800 rpm. Second one is a reworked version of the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. It now delivers 360 hp and 390 lb.-ft. of torque (up 3 hp and 1 lb.-ft.). Updated 05/12/2010: Jeep today announced prices for the 2011 Grand Cherokee that will be available in showrooms in June. More than 4 million sales later, Jeep improves the formula and hits the sweet spot of real-world capability and on-road refinement with the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is built on a proven rear-wheel-drive unibody platform sharing the same underpinnings as the Mercedes-Benz ML. Legendary CapabilityThe all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee offers the new Quadra-Lift air suspension system. The Quadra-Lift system features five height settings for optimum ride performance:
Quadra-Lift adds up to 4.5 inches of lift span that is supported by four-corner air springs that provide a cushioned, premium ride. This feature electronically coordinates up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems, including throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

Selec-Terrain is standard with Quadra Trac II and Quadra Drive II.Jeep Trail Rated® All 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with either the off-road or the Quadra-Lift group are Trail Rated®. The Jeep Trail Rated badge on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee indicates that the vehicle has been designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording. Jeep Trail Rated is a unique methodology used by Jeep Engineering to measure and predict off-road performance for all Jeep vehicles. Through a combination of natural and controlled field tests, Jeep Trail Rated provides a consistent measurement of off-road performance for all Jeep vehicles. Only Jeep vehicles are Trail Rated. PowertrainsThe all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available with two leading engine options for North American markets. The available legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine delivers 360 horsepower (268 kW) and 390 lb.-ft. of torque (520 N•m) @ 4,250 rpm. The HEMI also features VVT, which delivers performance and towing capability, as well as fuel efficiency with the fuel-saving Multi-displacement System (MDS). The 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine is mated to the 545RFE multi-speed automatic transmission. World-class Interior RefinementThe all-new interior is elevated to that of its European competition and features rich materials and elegant appointments, as well as more room for both passengers and cargo. Right-sized PackagingThe vehicle’s 114.8-inch wheelbase is 5.3 inches longer than the model it replaces and contributes to an overall vehicle length that is 1.8 inches longer than the prior model. The longer wheelbase creates more interior room and gives passengers an additional 4 inches of rear-seat knee and leg room. The vehicle also is 3 inches wider for improved handling and packaging. Classic Exterior DesignEvery surface of the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee is new and treated for aerodynamics. This improves fuel efficiency and puts more fluidity into the design while delivering a 7- percent improvement in drag compared with the current model. The all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee Cd is approximately 0.37 compared with the 2009 Cd of 0.404. Taillamps wrap from the rear quarter panel to the back of the vehicle and create a solid form which achieves more of an upscale appearance. The treatment complements the front-end design and resonates with the rest of the exterior. I didn’t truly expect it, that it can have that kind of interior. Well, I would love to have a car like this.
Martin_DJo (353) Posted on 10.25.2011 Sorry to say, but this one is not really impressive for it had a platform design and detailing of being an outdated car, but I can say that I still love the fact that it is so ideal for an outdoor activity.
suzet001 (468) Posted on 06.14.2011 I think Jeep and Hummer have the same problem both of them is gas guzzler though the figure performance was great! I wonder if there will be a aftermarket version for this car.
Brice_Brett (379) Posted on 06.14.2011 Well, talking about coolness and aggressiveness of car I think jeep would be a best option. However, the bad thing about this car is that its gas guzzler!
GenevaSanMiguel (443) Posted on 05.31.2011 This one would be a newer version of Jeep and it makes me wonder if they will be making a production with the same look or proceed on making a original concept for this model.
Veyron101 (563) Posted on 05.31.2011 I really love this car for its the more powerful and successful production of Jeep! BTW, I think this car is quite different from the traditional look of Jeep! However, its figure performance is quite impressive!
inigo_montoya (867) Posted on 05.9.2011 I’m glad with its improvement. I highly admired the way it was being refined. Take a closer look on it, it’s really gorgeous.
edwinsantiago (381) Posted on 10.8.2010 I’m sorry, but that interior just does not belong in a Jeep in my opinion. Though it will be suited perfectly for the target audience probably, the car has one from off-road run rugged vehicle to a plush comfortable highway SUV. I rather buy a GLK, X3, or Q5 for a little more money then
sammy_james (693) Posted on 09.28.2010 The styling on this is pretty nice. If the reliability and overall fit and finish is there, this ought to be a good move for Jeep and Chrysler as a whole.
MattyC (1) Posted on 09.22.2010 Regarding Adriansmith’s comments, very confusing. The New GC Limited is a huge turnaround from its previous model. I compare the Limited platform as the vehicles you mention X5, RR, LR, are clearly out of Jeep’s price range. It’s the closest model other than the Overland. GC Limited starts out at $39K. X5 $47K, RR $78K, LR2 (old Disco) $36K, Cayenne $50K. I could go on but the 2011 Limited with 5.7L V8 at a sticker price of $43K, it’s a heck of a buy. GM and Ford’s new models are using too much chrome accents that make then look fake. Ford sells its SYNC stuff and GM sells On Star. Jeep is selling a Jeep. adriansmith (806) Posted on 09.15.2010 The exterior is not a big step from previous model, especially from back. LR may also do similar treatment to both RR, Disco and RR sport, but they look modern and clean, but this new Grand Cherokee isn’t. When GM and Ford have stepped ahead, Chrysler seems to stay in the old day. Even, current X5 is still a tough competitor for this new Jeep. I will take smaller but brainier new Cayenne or its sibling Touareg.
sammy_james (693) Posted on 08.27.2010 This grand cherokee rocks! I am dreaming of having my own Jeep!
onielbryan (217) Posted on 08.1.2010 I love the new Grand Cherokee. I think its a good step forward for Chrysler.
martybrown (129) Posted on 07.21.2010 Yes it looks terrific and I really hope Chrysler is on a good mend. I can’t wait to see what new products they have coming.
Jonas_McDonell (251) Posted on 05.17.2010 A 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 which includes a navigation system with real-time traffic alerts and wireless cell-phone link.
carlos_bullock (478) Posted on 05.16.2010 A 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 which includes a navigation system with real-time traffic alerts and wireless cell-phone link.
micopeterson (808) Posted on 05.16.2010 Good looking suv but to be honest I like the new Dodge more than this.
Pepe_Smith (520) Posted on 05.14.2010 I’ve personally seen a whole fleet of these testing in Moab last fall with a long with a slew of its competition from landrover and others. They are doing it right and approaching it from every angle...props to them
Joewaldner (571) Posted on 05.14.2010 Looks great inside and outside! but I noticed that there are some little similarity with Dodge Journey, well never mind that! because still its built to be a nice luxury off roading machine.
