In 2011, Jeep is turning 70 years old, which means that we’re going to be seeing a year-long celebration from these guys consisting of parties, promotions, and special edition vehicles. Well, it didn’t take long for them to cross one off of their list. At the Detroit Auto Show, Jeep rolled out five special edition models for the Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, and Wrangler SUVs. Despite the special edition labels attached to them, the five anniversary models don’t come with a lot of exterior and performance upgrades with Jeep focusing instead on the SUVs’ interior. Not that we’re complaining or anything because those interior upgrades look mighty nice as far as we’re concerned. The cheapest option of the five models will be the Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition, which has been priced at $22,870. It’s a far cry from the line-up topping Grand Cherokee, which comes at $36,495, but if anyone is looking for a special edition 70th Anniversary Jeep that comes at an affordable price, the Patriot version is the best option available. Details for the Jeep Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition can be found after the jump. Exterior and Interior/h3>Like we said, Jeep spared little effort in upgrading the exterior of the Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition, preferring only to add a 70th Anniversary badge and putting in a set of 17” aluminum wheels. Since it’s a 2011 model, expect the Patriot to come with re-designed front and rear fascias, and a body-color grille compared to its predecessors. So at least, we have that working for us. Over in the interior is where Jeep blows its lid with a bevy of additions, including Dark slate seats with perforated leather inserts embossed with the Jeep logo and chestnut accent stitching and piping. There are also Berber floor mats and cargo area with chestnut binding, a unique dark green cluster overlay, a Chestnut stitching in steering wheel, and a 70th Anniversary logo on radio screen. PerformanceNo performance upgrades on this one so expect the Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition to come with the stock 2.0-Liter I4 DOHC 16V Dual VVT engine that produces 158 horsepower and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. PricingThe 2011 Jeep Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition will be priced at $22,870, making it the cheapest of the five 70th Anniversary models Jeep unveiled. CompetitionAs Jeep’s entry-level SUV, the Patriot’s competition lies in the compact SUV segment. Among the models that prowl in that same market include the Subaru Forester and the Toyota Rav-4. Both the Forester and the Rav-4 have slightly more powerful engine options than the Patriot. The Forester comes with a 2,498 cc engine that produces 170 horsepower and 174 lb/ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. Meanwhile, the Rav-4 boasts of a sparkling 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 179 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 172 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 RPM. The numbers might lean towards its rivals, but the Jeep Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition certainly has the leg-up when it comes to uniqueness. 16 comments: Jeep Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition The design for the interior and exterior is just the same including the performance. The funny thing is, it doesn’t have much upgrade but the price is high! Good thing is there are lot of cheaper alternative in the market.

The comment on performance : " Both the Forester and the Rav-4 have slightly more powerful engine options than the Patriot. The Forester comes with a 2,498 cc engine that produces 170 horsepower and 174 lb/ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. Meanwhile, the Rav-4 boasts of a sparkling 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 179 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 172 lb/ft of torque at 4,000" And the patriot is tag to have : " RPM.2.0-Liter I4 DOHC 16V Dual VVT engine that produces 158 horsepower " BUT ! in fact, it is for the 2WD. The 4WD Patrito comes with 2.4-Liter DOHC 16-Valve I-4 With DUAL VVT and the engine produces 172 bhp (129 kW) @ 6,000 rpm (72 bhp/liter). At this point, it is false that compititotrs are far better in peformance !
Jeep patriot has a sharp looks that i can say and rolled out five special edition models for the Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, and Wrangler SUVs.
well i bet it is, besides even the regular Jeeps ar amazing specially the wrangler Rubicon and Cherokee.. both are the best on their field a true competitor an a performer.
yes trash the Humvee good, well actually the main concern with the jeep 70th anniversary edition is the interior, jeep make sure that this big boys is elegant and classy inside but rough on the outside.
it looks great but they forgot to include the step board and front bull bar, I like it more than the Humvee. fuel consumption is fare and the cost is also reasonable.
I like it because of the Interior design, most cheapest of all SE models and the patriot is face lifted. but the problem is the performance they focused more on the looks and not on the performance.
great interior, all of this SUV is petrol and has the same leather cream and dark cream tones on the Seats, pretty good does it? but not the fuel consumptions. I bet you pocket will drop its tears with blood.
