2011 Jeep Wrangler Renegade

  Review

Every year, Jeep and Mopar hold a special event for fans of the two brands. Now on its 45th year, the Moab Easter Jeep Safari has become an annual convergence of some eye-catching Jeep concepts, all of which have been made specifically for the event.

The 45th Moab Easter Jeep Safari is scheduled for April 16th, 2011, but with more than a week left before the event begins, we’ve already gotten a few sneak peeks on the six concepts that are expected to appear on the show.

This year, the event will feature three customized Jeep Wrangler models with one being given the designation as the ‘Renegade’. Just like the Blue Crush and the Pork Chop, the Renegade comes with its own unique features courtesy of Chrysler’s aftermarket company, Mopar.

Of the many modifications given to the Wrangler, the Renegade model now sports a powerful 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 475 horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. In addition to the improvements done on the off-roader’s powertrain, Mopar also gave the Renegade a bevy of new items, including a heat dissipating hood, a new fuel door, sill guards, a bikini top, rock rails, slush mats, a half-door kit, a new winch-mounted front bumper, and a set of 35” Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials that have been mounted on AEV Pintler wheels.

It may not be as jarring as the Blue Crush or as peculiar as the Pork Chop, but the Renegade still holds a commanding and intimidating presence by the mere sight of it. The fact that it’s tailor-made for rough and tough terrain is a true indication of the off-roader’s capabilities.

I love the jet black finish on its huge body plus the colossal wheels make it more pompous. No wonder why mobs in the movies use this kind of vehicle.

V8 engine is really good on this massive vehicle! Moreover, I must say that it looks cool on its dressed-up interior even on its body paint, which only gives more appeal for this outdoor car.

475 horsepower is already good but not so great with this one for the fact that it is an outdoor vehicle. Moreover, I really love the platform of it, especially its massive appearance.

Renegade is so awesome among the six wrangler whom I saw. The detailing is so simple, but it still had the muscular appearance that I really love here in their car. The powertrain that it had is obviously a remarkable one for this kind of car.

Yeah, that’s one of the things that I have noticed on this one, it seemed that they have designed it more for performance rather than looks. It actually is my favorite among the six concepts.

Good thing that they have really set up its engine well, and the added parts will certainly boost its performance in rough terrain. Certainly makes a great ride.

Those new tires are quite a looker for this one, really fits in the whole off road package that they have set up for this one. Overall, they did a great one on this.

Yeah, you’re right, this one doesn’t really look anything out of the ordinary. But I do like the performance upgrades that they have put into it. Really deserves its name.

The tires seems to be reliable. I bet the wheel is the reason why it doesn’t have much power while using a v8 technology.
