Jeep's->ke40 long and storied history of building rugged, go-anywhere SUVs might be getting a little more diverse – at least in the view of BoldRide and . The pair joined forces to compile what they believe might be the rumored Jeep slotted below the already tiny Renegade.

The premise: an all-wheel-drive hatchback with a powerful engine capable of sweeping the floor with an STI, Focus ST, or Evo at any given rally race. It’s an interesting idea, but the likelihood is actually there. Fiat->ke30 does have the Punto it could re-clothe in Jeep apparel. Perhaps the 2.0-liter Tigershark with a little turbo magic aboard to give it some extra oomph -- say around 280 horsepower. BoldRide went one step further, entertaining the idea of a diesel powertrain. It’s surely an interesting thought.

With the youthful aesthetics, large wheels, and generally attractive stance, the baby Jeep (BoldRide) might catch on with the GTI, Focus ST, and WRX crowd. Competition is always a good thing in this business.

Where the Rally Jeep? will hit snags is with the current Jeep faithful. There have already been stern words said about the Renegade and its ‘cute’ appearance. Perhaps a Jeep hot hatch would haul too much heresy for Fiat-Chrysler to move forward. Either way, it’s an intriguing concept and a spectacular rendering that should easily garner polarizing opinions.

Jeep Hatchback Concept in Detail

Styling cues from the Renegade are clearly seen here, especially in the bumper-mounted jerry can taillights. A very un-Jeep-like rear diffuser with a chrome exhaust tip poking out elicits fun fantasies of speed while the low-profile tires seem to promise poised handling. Of course, the Rally Jeep isn't real (or is it?), but the idea is surely there.

It’s hard to put a seven-slot grille on a small hatchback, but this rendering cleverly affixes the heritage upon the molded plastic bumper. The red paint scheme with white racing stripe works well for the Jeep. Especially eye-catching is the Jeep nameplate along the doors’ lower edge.
