So you have a Kia Soul that's been turned into a museum; a Soul that has a DJ mixer on its roof; and a Soul that pays homage to The Voice. Wonder what else the company can think of, right?

Well, this collaboration between Kia->ke41 and Popular Mechanics has the answer. Like its name suggests, the Amped Soul is all about bringing even more boom to the small crossover, specifically those ear-gasmic JBL speakers that somehow are strong enough to allow the actual Soul to sit on top of them.

We don't know how the crossover->ke288 is going to move with those speakers underneath it, but hey, those 22-inch Forgiato custom three-piece wheels are a sight in their own. Add that to the custom Pearl White paint finish and the blacked-out windows, and you have a Soul that would actually look like a decent option when you're in the market for one.

Unfortunately, the Amped Soul is just a show car, albeit one that can make your ears bleed faster than the time it takes for you to throw on ear protection. A full-on JBL Pro Live surround equipment has been integrated into the rear-hinged doors, while LED ambient lighting on the interior and four 12-inch Infinity1 power subwoofers are responsible for only drawing a right mood to the cabin, but also putting on a speaker show on four wheels the likes of which you probably will never see again.

We honestly don't know how that wheels-on-speakers configuration works - or how those speakers are able to support the Soul's weight.

The B-pillars are gone and in its place is a wide opening that allows the boom from those speakers come out unimpeded.

Controls inside the Soul allow you to determine how badly you want your ears to hurt.

Arguably one of the weirdest yet most fascinating aftermarket projects on the Kia Soul.

2014 Kia Soul

Ever since it was introduced in the U.S. market back in 2010, the Kia Soul has been a popular sell, especially for those looking for an unconventional crossover that offers plenty of attitude and character.

The Soul is already offered an unmistakable design language, but for the new generation, it received design elements we saw on the Track’ster Concept that Kia unveiled in 2012.

The new Soul has grown in size, too, while also receiving a more aggressive appearance. Power comes in the form of two options: a base 1.6-liter, all-aluminum four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 130 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque, and a 2.0-liter NU engine with an output of 164 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque 151 pound-feet of torque at a 4,000 rpm.
