The Frankfurt Auto Show is ramping up nicely and it will kick off in just a few weeks on September 10th. With the show quickly approaching all of the key players in the automotive realm are in full teasing mode. Even Kia has gotten into the teasing game, as it released a few teaser images of a B-segment concept that will debut in Frankfurt.

The teaser images don’t give up too many details, but we can tell that this is a sleek compact crossover that features almost GT-R -like headlights and what appear to be gull-wing doors. Also evident on from the images is the staple Kia grille outlined in yellow and underscored by large fog lights that make it stand out from the shadows. Also highlighted in yellow are the side-view mirrors and wipers.

The interior image shows us s super-modern theme with a one-piece front seat, a knob-selector transmission and a sleek dashboard. We can also make out the same yellow highlights surrounding the air vents as surround the front grille. The neon yellow highlight also finds its way onto what look to be paddle shifter behind the steering wheel.

Short of those key details that are evident in the teaser images, the rest of the car is up in the air. We assume that because this is a city car concept that it will feature a small-displacement engine or possibly a hybrid setup for optimal fuel economy. By zooming in on the interior image, we also can make out that this model will feature all-wheel drive, hill decent control and an electric parking brake — these are evident by a series of labeled buttons on the dashboard.

Judging by the fact that this concept only appeared on Kia’s UK site, we can assume that this is concept is gauging only UK customer interest .

The Sedona minivan sat out the 2013 model year without joining the official Kia lineup. Even so, the practical seven-seater notched up nearly 15,000 sales of old stock to families seeking the upmarket style of the Honda Odyssey but the value pricing of the Dodge Grand Caravan .

Value is the Sedona’s key niche as it languishes without the chassis and tech overhauls that have done wonders for the Optima and Sportage. There are many benefits to the Sedona offering and the core model is refreshed in reintroduced for 2014 with a new grille design, new LED running lights in front and a new taillight design out back.

The space and features in this V-6 Kia minivan are beyond criticism – this wide and airy cabin makes full-size SUVs like the Chevy Suburban seem like a foolish extravagance that puts image ahead of actual vehicle priorities of kid and family transport. The Sedona’s 24 mpg on the highway will also shame any SUV and most large crossovers.

With all these benefits and a $32,000 loaded price, the Sedona is more than $12,000 cheaper than the fanciest Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Town & Country models.

Inevitably, there are big compromises to be made. The Kia ’s sloppy driving experience and interior design are a relic of the bad old Kia days. Do the new grille and LED accent lights turn the also-ran 2014 Kia Sedona into a real player in the minivan segment?

The San Diego Comic-Con opened up today and what better way to celebrate it than with a comic book-inspired ride? Well, Kia was happy to deliver the goods by way of a Justice League-inspired 2013 Sorento that took a whopping 10 months to complete.

For those that don’t know, the Justice League first appeared in The Brave and Beautiful issue No. 28, which was put on shelves in 1960. The original seven members of the famed comic book team were Batman , Superman , Aquaman , Flash , Green Lantern , Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, but many characters came and went through the years. This Sorento features all of the original characters with the exception of the lesser-known Martian Manhunter — in his place is more mainstream Cyborg — painted on each side of the vehicle by West Coast Customs. Each of the characters on this Sorento also had their own individual customized Kia and you can see each one by clicking on each name above.

Up front, the hood features a "Justice League" decal and nothing else, giving the crossover a clean, but still custom, look from the front end. The Kia also received blacked-out upper and lower grilles.

On the inside, the customization continues. West Coast Customs reupholstered all three rows of seats with one character’s colors and logo on each seat. Up front, the driver’s seat features the Superman logo and red piping, and the passenger’s seat features a batman logo on the headrest and gold piping. The three center-row seats features Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Flash logos with their respective colored piping. Finally, the third row of seats feature Aquaman and Cyborg logos with piping to match.

Also customized are the door panels, which feature comic strips on the upper inserts and color-coordinated piping, and the center console with its comic-strip covering.

What’s more, is that you can buy this custom rig on Ebay and bidding runs from today through July 27th here. The profits from the auction will go to help the We Can Be Heros campaign, which helps feed starving families in the Horn of Africa. So, not only can you own an awesome ride, but you also help a great cause, it’s a win-win situation.

The customization is based on a Sorento EX with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that puts down 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque.

Kia Soul EV

Rumors have been swirling about a possible all-electric Kia Soul crossover for quite some time now, and today our spy photographers caught the Soul EV testing on public roads for the first time.

Reports suggest that the electric Kia Soul will feature a battery pack that will ensure a driving range of 200 km (124 miles) on one single charge. The same rumors suggest that the Soul EV’s electric motor will afford the electric crossover a top speed of 87 mph and a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under 12 seconds.

According to a report from Kia World, the Soul EV will have a global presence, as Kia will sell its upcoming EV in Europe, China and the U.S. The model will be put on sale in Europe in the first half of 2014 at a starting price of €27,500. We expect to see a price tag around $30K in the U.S. market.

Over the past few years, Korean automaker Kia has been on a mission to change public perception of its brand. No longer is it the quirky Korean brand that’s attached to the hip with Hyundai. Granted, it is still attached to Hyundai and you can trace nearly every Kia model back to Hyundai roots; it simply has a little more design freedom these days.

Now, it’s ready to take on the big boys. To its credit, it’s doing so with a full armada of new vehicle offerings that’ll cater to a wide range of consumer palettes.

One such model that Kia has high hopes for is the 2013 Rio Sedan . First introduced in 2000, the Rio has since spawned three generations, a remarkable achievement in itself considering that despite being a relative neophyte in its segment, it has managed to hold its own against the Corollas and Civics of the world.

Make no mistakes, though; the Rio still has its work cut out for it, given the tradition and popularity of its Japanese competitors.

Yet that has been a challenge that Kia has fully embraced, if only for the rather simple reason that if you’re going to make a name for yourself in the industry, you’re going to need to target the heavyweights and give them some reason to look in their rear-view mirrors.

The Rio definitely has the tools to take the battle to its rivals. The question is does it have the tools to attract the most important group of people: buyers.

The Kia Forte5 is the forthcoming hatchback variation of last year’s new Forte sedan but packs some interesting and timely updates that make this one of the few hot hatches offered in the U.S. market. The highlights include a powerful turbocharged engine, sophisticated front and rear LED lighting, and a cabin with some boy-racer appeal via carbon-fiber-style surfaces and a six-speed manual box.

Let’s face it: hot hatches just aren’t sexy here. As much as our Euro counterparts get excited about the Fiesta ST , there’s a collective “huh?” in U.S. showrooms over the same car. It just seems too tall, too narrow and diminutive for someone to commit to years of payments. The Honda Civic Si is about as close to the recipe as possible and even this is only offered in staid sedan or also-staid coupe bodywork.

This is set to change with the new Forte5. The name is the dorkiest part: the style of low, crisp and wide proportions makes this car look more like a slammed Sportage or Cayenne than an econobox. The mechanical packages on the Kia show a half-step improvement versus corporate sibling Hyundai , with the turbo engine finally delivering some of the sportiness Kia says defines its products.

So where does the Forte5 site within the Forte line that also includes sedans and coupes? Right in that hot-hatch sweet spot, just moved a little further toward “cool” from the embarrassing current hatchbacks: the Ford Fiesta and Chevrolet Spark .

The Kia Quoris or K9 was unveiled by the South Korean automaker in 2012 as a replacement for the Opirus sedan in its home market. The Quoris is already sold in many countries around the Globe and it looks like the U.S. will be next.

In an interview with Automotive, one Kia official confirmed that the Quoris will arrive is the U.S. in 2014 and will be priced somewhere between $50k and $70k. If you are wondering how a company can sell models with such a wide price spectrum, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Michael Sprague, has the answer: "How is that any different than Mercedes-Benz selling cars from $30,000 to $150,000?"

While we await the Quoris arrival, Kia will remain busy by unveiling seven refreshed or all-new vehicles, plus slightly updated 2014 Kia Sedona minivan that Kia hopes will help improve sales.

Kia GT Concept

Kia has been playing with the idea of offering a sports coupe for quite some time now.

In the past few years this idea has been brought up quite a few times, but at the 2013 New York Auto Show Tom Kearns, the head of Kia’s California design studio, stated emphatically that he feels the company should develop a sports car. His dream sports car would offer a rear-wheel-drive configuration and would be a similar style as the Toyota GT86 and FR-S.

He would like to see it offered in both coupe and convertible, with both versions having their own advantages: a convertible is fun to drive, while a coupe with an affordable price can prove very popular in the U.S. market.

In true Kia fashion, they would also try to keep the model very affordable in an attempt to attract younger buyers.

Will it ever happen, not likely, but Kia’s done it before…

The latest installment of Kia’s superhero lineup was finally unveiled at the New York Auto Show.

This time, DC’s Wonder Woman was the recipient of the Korean automaker’s superhero-themed vehicles.

The Sportage Wonder Woman is actually the seventh of an eight-vehicle partnership between Kia and DC and for what it’s worth, it’s one of the better ones we’ve seen come out of the unique collaboration.

The exterior of the Sportage features a truly unique aerodynamic look with a red and blue exterior scheme that comes accented with the same stars Wonder Woman has in her get-up. Notice also the gold trim found throughout the vehicle; that’s a nod toward the heroine’s golden lasso. On the front, Wonder Woman’s famous eagle chest plate is prominently featured and integrated into the Sportage’s grille with matching blue headlight beams representing her eyes.

Rounding out the exterior modifications is Wonder Woman’s tiara, which is clearly visible on top of the Sportage’s windshield. The chrome side panels on the vehicle that serve as graphical interpretations of her invisible jet and the five-spoke wheel design complete the wonderful work done on the exterior to pay homage to DC’s resident super heroine.

Moving inside, Kia continued the Wonder Woman-inspired theme with red upholstery and dash pieces, as well as blue LED lighting to match the exterior treatment. There are also custom seats bearing Wonder Woman’s costume with embroidered logo prominently featured. Last but not least is the cargo area of the Sportage, which has a see-through panel displaying Wonder Woman’s full list of crime fighting accessories, including her tiara, bracelets and a glowing Lasso of Truth.
