The car’s exterior is defined by three-dimensional front bumper with large air intakes, new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes and a big rear spoiler available as an option.

The exterior

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is not only more powerful, but also more dynamic and lighter that a Gallardo 560-4. The model weights only 2954 lbs, making it not only 154 lbs lights, but also the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range.

All these improvements have been possible thanks to the intense use of carbon fiber the exterior and interior components. Also, in order to improve aerodynamics, Lamborghini engineers remodeled the front bumper - three-dimensional, deeply recessed elements form trapezoidal frames for the large air intakes. Together with the V-shaped, sharply defined nose and the LED daytime running lights, the black elements give the front end a razor-sharp look, reminiscent of Lamborghini’s top model. Next to these elements, the Superleggera also gets new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes a small rear spoiler as standard and a big rear spoiler available as an option.

The car sits on 19-inch units made from aluminum forged and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear. Customers can choose between: Verde Ithaca, Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus.

The interior

The interior was also all about reducing the car’s total weight. The center tunnel cover, the door panels and the surround of the e-gear automated manual transmission lever, but also the sports seats’ shells are made from carbon-fiber.

The sports seats are clad in lightweight Alcantara instead of leather, while all the interior is crafted with passionate attention to the tiniest detail; high quality materials indulge both visually and sensually.

However, despite the fact Lamborghini did almost everything to reduce the total weight, the supercar is still being offered with air conditioning and electric powered windows as standard.

The car’s interior, including roof and mats, retains the Lamborghini Gallardo’s black finish. As a contrasting color for elements such as seat trims and stitching, customers can choose among green, yellow, orange and two shades of gray.

The engine

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

Under the hood Lamborghini has placed a 5.2 liters V10 engine that delivers a total of 570 HP at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 398,3 ft lbs at 6,500 rpm. The car accelerates zero to 0-62 mph in just 3,4 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in 10,2 seconds and continues relentlessly to its top speed of 202 mph.

The engine will be offered with an aluminum crankcase that includes dry sump lubrication and a cylinder angle of 90 degrees - both solution improving the center of gravity and improving the car’s handling dynamics.

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera comes with the e-gear transmission operated via steering wheel paddles, as standard. The automated system with electronic management shifts through its six gears extremely smoothly and far more quickly than could be achieved by human reflexes. The e-gear control unit has three operating modes, two of which available in automatic. The "Thrust mode" delivers maximum off-the-line performance and is programmed to manage starting revs of around 5000 rpm with minimal wheel slip.

The engine will also be coupled to a permanent all-wheel drive that integrates a central viscous coupling and a 45 percent limited slip differential on the rear axle.

The 2012 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera will go on sale at a price of $237,600. The prices do not include a $2,995 destination charge. Also, you will have to pay an extra $2,100 or $3,000 gas-guzzler tax if you choose the six-speed e-gear or six-speed manual transmission.

The competition

When it comes about competition for the Superleggera the list is quite impressive. Of course it starts with the Audi R8 GT to whom it share the engine with, but models like Aston Martin V12 Vantage or Ferrari 458 Italia can also be included.

The R8 GT is powered by a 5.2 FSI V10 that delivers a total of of 560 HP and 398.28 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm. The result is a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, from 0 to 124 mph in 10.6 seconds, and a top speed of 198.8 mph. The 458 Italia gets a 4.5 liter V8 engine that produces 570 HP and sprints the car from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 202 MPH. The Vantage model gets a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp and 420 lb ft of torque with a top speed of 190 mph and a0-62 mph sprint time of 4.2 seconds.

  • Lighter than standard car
  • Looks better
  • Impressive performance figures
  • Kind of expensive

amazing carbon fiber kits, for sure lamboghini has paid their attention and dedication to build another super car like this. Green is not my pick to a super car like this, Black, and Red is better.

One of the best release car of Lamborghini it’s totally super plus colors to choose but I’ll pick this one I’m totally satisfied.

this car is so fast 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds, wow! Some sports car take 4-6 seconds to accelerate from 0-60mph. But Lamborghini should change or upgrade the weight of this car so that it won’t be dangerous when it hit the top speed. Not a problem when you are good at handling the wheel though.

it doesnt look as good as the first superleggera. There is too much pointy and jagged bits. Still a great car though.

@jerrygrant : IMO cars with light body weight is too dangerous, be careful with the speed.

I think this car can fly..maybe yes. It is said that it’s too light to maintain its grip on the ground. Plus, it also has a speed that can really take you like a traveling light. But all of these are in a positive note. Safety is all in the driver’s discipline.

If this will be the prospect stats for this Superleggera, I think it’s not that interesting coz’ it’s just a minor tune-up but I’m not saying the sales will go down. Well for a Lamborghini supercars, I’m not expecting this stats line to be like that for this year and compare it to the last year LP570-4, it seems like the same car performance.

The name of the 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera successor will be LP570-4 SV and it packs less weight, only 10hp more and a stripped-down interior. Reworked front suspension and CC brakes are expected also.
