Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque is an all new coupe SUV that will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show at the end of 2010. It will be the smallest, lightest, and most fuel efficient Range Rover produced since Range Rover's 1970 beginning. It will be available in 4WD and 2WD.

Brought onto the market in the mid of 2011, theRange Rover Evoque shortly became one of the most successful models offered by Land Rover . So, as no surprise, the company will try to diversify the list of versions offered and after the previously rumored Grand Evoque andEvoque Cabrio , new details suggest that the company will also be offering a Sport version for the SUV.

In an interview with the British magazine AutoExpress, design director Gerry McGovern has suggested that such a model is being considered. Could this be a reaction to the recently announced Audi RS Q3 concept? We are not sure, but we really like the idea of seeing a sporty Evoque out there.

As for the engines to be used in the new models, rumors are talking about an updated version of the current 240bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo, tuned to deliver more than 300 HP. But a 2.2-litre SD4 engine will also be offered for the diesel fans out there, also with an output increased from the current 190 HP to at least 210 HP.

However, do not get to excited, the Range Rover Evoque Sport will make its debut late in 2013.

We’ve heard rumors that Land Rover would be building a special edition Range Rover Evoque in collaboration with no less than Victoria Beckham, but now it looks like those rumors will come to life at the Beijing Auto Show .

Days leading up to its official debut, Land Rover did a little pre-emptive strike and pulled the covers off of the Evoque Victoria Beckham Edition.

Already known for being one of the best designed SUVs in the world - it recently won the 2012 World Design Car of the Year - the Range Rover Evoque was the perfect template to work on for two icons of style. And to their credit, Land Rover and Victoria Beckham succeeded in enhancing the Evoque with the finest quality materials and craftsmanship and ultra-premium interior ambience.

The exterior of the Evoque Victoria Beckham Edition was hand-finished in a high-quality matte grey paint finish. To complement the stealthy look of the SUV, Land Rover fitted the Evoque with a new set of 20" gloss black forged alloy wheels with ultra luxurious rose-gold details, a feature that’s limited to only this model.

The SUV’s interior also gets fresh new styling, highlighted by the sport design four-seats that are finished in a semi-aniline Vintage Tan leather, with a bold ’baseball’ stitch detail chosen by Victoria Beckham as a coy reference to her world-famous husband, David. The Vintage Tan leather is also present on the door inserts, the arm rests, and the central storage box lid.

Finally, the Evoque Victoria Beckham Edition comes with a bespoke, four-piece luggage set that’s made from high-quality internal structure and clothed in hand stitched black leather. Two wheeled suitcases and wash bags - "his" and "hers" - come with zip pulls finished in matte grey and linings made from microsuede.

Only 200 models of this special edition Evoque will go on sale. While the SUV is set to be available worldwide, China gets first dibs with deliveries set to begin in October 2012.

Range Rover Evoque

Let’s face it, the vast majority of production cars don’t look like the concept cars they’re based upon. Sure, various features may be carried over, but concept cars allow designers to go crazy and that’s exactly what they did when designing the original Land Rover LRX Concept .

It was so new and innovative that most people believed it would never reach production and if it did, it would undergo massive changes. To the world’s surprise, when it went into production in July 2011 as the Range Rover Evoque it looked almost identical to the stunning concept car. As a result of the car’s incredible styling and its on-road and off-road capabilities, the Evoque has received 103 awards to date from websites, magazines, and newspapers all across the globe.

But arguably the most prestigious award the Evoque has received so far was awarded at the 2012 New York Auto Show where the Evoque was crowned World Car Design of the Year for 2012. No less than 46 nominations were given for the award and the Evoque was shortlisted by five world renowned design experts along with the Citroen DS5 and Volkswagen Up !

Final deliberations were handed over to a panel of 66 automotive journalists from 25 different countries, before the Evoque was crowned the winner. And we can’t say we’re surprised, as it’s an immaculate bit of design and also created a completely new segment in the market.

Land Rover Design Director Gerry McGovern had the following to say, "We are honored that the Range Rover Evoque has been named 2012 World Design Car of the Year. This prestigious accolade recognizes the overwhelmingly positive response that we have received to the Evoque’s bold and dramatic design. It is a car that truly resonates on an emotional level."

The annual Vinitaly event in Italy is considered one of the most prestigious and most important exhibition of wines and spirits in the world. And as we all know in the industry, events like this are the perfect opportunity for collaborative projects.

This year, that opportunity was seized by Land Rover when they struck a partnership with the Aznom for a special and exclusive take on the popular Range Rover Evoque SUV that was dedicated to Champagne Bollinger.

The model, called the Evoque Bollinger, was dressed in a two-tone red-gold color scheme with a matching black roof that carries the famous "bubbles" logo of Bollinger. In addition, the front seat headrests inside the SUV were imprinted with "Evoque Bollinger" while the trunk was fitted with two specially-designed air-conditioned rooms that can carry a total of 12 bottles of - what else? - Champagne Bollinger.

The Evoque Bollinger Edition doesn’t appear to be an SUV for sale so those interested will have to hold on to their wallets. Chances are, though, the special edition SUV will be headed to an auction so we’ll be on the look-out for that.

It’s a little odd to see a vehicle model make its debut at the same show where a tuning company will unveil a tuning program that highlights the very same thing the model is featuring. But such is what’s going to happen when Land Rover premieres the Range Rover Evoque Convertible at the same time as noted tuning company Startech is introducing their Evoque Convertible program.

A little confused now?

The latter’s program isn’t actually based on the Evoque Convertible that Land Rover will be presenting. What they did is develop their own open-top version of the Evoque independent from what Land Rover did on their new model.

Details behind Startech’s Evoque Convertible program have yet to be divulged, but it’s becoming apparent that we might have two Evoque Convertible models in attendance at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Check out the teaser photo Startech released of their Evoque Convertible program leading up to its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Hamann Motorsport is getting ready to troop to Geneva for one of the biggest auto shows in the world and one of the vehicles that they’ll be proudly showing off is the new Range Rover Evoque . Their rendition of the luxury SUV has been decked from head to rear with the kind of comprehensive tuning program that Hamann is known for.

On the outside, the German tuning company fitted the British SUV with a bold aerodynamic package that includes a two-part front spoiler, side wing extensions, side sill sets that have widened the Evoque’s body by 70mm at the front and 80mm at the rear, and a new set of 22" wheels to go with a one-piece 22" wheel that is currently being offered in either the Anniversary Evo and Anniversary Evo Black line.

Inside, Hamann is offering customers an opportunity to customize the interior of their Range Rover Evoque, complete with a full-leather upholstery, personalized floor mats, and customized trim options.

The other highlight of Hamann’s program for the Range Rover Evoque is the engine modification. Thanks to a comprehensive program that includes a new exhaust system, a new sports air filter, and a remapped ECU unit, Hamann was able to achieve significant output improvements on all three engine options of the Evoque. The first one is the 2.2-liter TD4 engine, which saw its output increase from 148 horsepower to 179 horsepower. The second engine - the 2.2-liter ED4 engine - saw its output jump from 187 horsepower to 218 horsepower. Finally, the most powerful of the three Evoque engines - the 2.2 Si4 - increased its output from 240 horsepower to 278 horsepower.

Land Rover was the first to unveil a coupe SUV and it turned out to be a smart move. However, they are not the first to offer a convertible SUV - that move was already made by Nissan with their Murano Convertible - but since the Evoque is enjoying such great success, Landrover figured they’d capitalize on it with a little model expansion. When the British company hits the Geneva showroom floor, they will be ready with the Evoque Convertible Concept, a preview of the company’s future model.

Based on the three-door Evoque, the convertible version comes equipped with a fully retractable roof system with a roll-over protection system. Land Rover said that minimal changes were made to the car’s weight and torsional rigidity, but they are far from being done if they plan on developing a production version.

The interior offers the coolest technologies out there, including leather seats, a Meridian audio system, surround cameras, Park Assist, and an infotainment system with an 8-inch display.

Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern said: "The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable."

Is this Evoque suicide or the next logical step? We figure it depends on how conventional the market is and what the weather is like.

Updated 03/08/2012: We have added a series of new images from the car’s official debut in Geneva. Find them in the picture gallery!

UPDATE 03/14/12: In addition to the new photos of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept, Land Rover has also released the first driving footage of the top-less SUV. Check it out by clicking on the photo above.

The next James Bond movie is set to be released in October 2012 and, as usual, Agent 007 - played once again by Daniel Craig - will drive some of the most amazing cars in the world. For the new movie, Bond will be dropping his usual Aston Martin models in favor of a Jaguar XJ-L .

This video shot by Shmee150 on the Skyfall set shows off the beautifully luxurious XJ-L, as well as a Range Rover Evoque that was also seen filming. And since the never-ending technology of the movie world is present, the Evoque plays the role of a driverless car. Don’t get too excited though, this is just a magic trick played by the camera. We’re going to have to wait a lot longer for the Evoque to shed the driver.

The plot for the upcoming James Bond/007 Skyfall is still being kept a secret, but we’ll discover it soon enough. Until then, stay tuned!

The new Range Rover Evoque has caught lots of attention lately. And when it takes about tuning packages we have seen a lot. Today we add another one: it comes from the German specialist Arden and includes a few exterior updates plus an extra 30 HP under the hood.

The tuner is offering the car a more sporty and elegant appearance thanks to a new handmade stainless steel mesh grills with an exclusive Arden mesh structure. The car’s ride has been lowered by 30 mm thanks to the addition of new custom springs and new wheel spacers. Of course that the usual illuminated side pipes couldn’t miss. At the rear the car has received a specially developed stainless steel exhaust system.

All these exterior changes can be combined with a few changes made under the hood. Arden has focused on the 2.2 liter diesel engines, which has received an additional ECU for up to 30 hp and 50 Nm.

Kahn Design’s love for the Range Rover is still plowing full steam ahead in the new year, illustrated by the British tuning firm’s very cool special edition based on the Land Rover Range Rover . The new package is called the Dorchester Edition and, as usual, includes some exterior and interior updates with no changes in performance. The new Dorchester edition is available in petrol and diesel models and in right hand or left hand drive, but prices haven’t been announced just yet.

Kahn Design started their work on the exterior of the Range Rover by putting in a new front bumper, a new rear bumper, and new side skirts. The SUV now rides on a new set of 22" Kahn RS alloy wheels in a matte pearl grey finish and combined with brake calipers finished in a heat resistant red paint and a Kahn stainless steel quad exhaust system. In typical Kahn Design fashion, the interior can be customized in any color and material combination the customer so chooses, but the tuner is also offering a billet steering wheel, machined aluminum pedals, bespoke door handles, Kahn mats, front and rear park assist, heated front seats, a rear entertainment system, and a welcome ambient illumination package.
