The Land Rover Discovery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and as is the case with vehicles hitting that mark, Land Rover->ke46 has released a commemorative model to mark the occasion.

Low and behold, the company has dubbed it the Land Rover Discovery->ke511 XXV Special Edition. Props to the genius who thought of that name.

On a more serious note, it really is a landmark occasion for the Discovery. After all, it's been around since 1989; a time when nobody had heard of the Internet yet. More importantly, Land Rover has sold over one million models of this rugged beauty.

So with that in mind, the Discovery XXV Special Edition->ke2041 is as special as its name suggests. It has a choice of four exterior colors - Causeway Grey, Santorini Black, Fuji White and - to mark the jubilee - Indus Silver - each matched with a premium cabin that features Windsor leather on the door tops, instrument binnacle and fascia.

A set of 20-inch, split-five-spoke alloy wheels is also a welcome plus, as are the special "XXV" badging on the tailgate and front doors, and a newly configured interior that now boasts of a twist pile carpet and a leather-covered wooden steering wheel.

The Land Rover Discovery XXV Special Edition is set to hit dealerships later this year at a price of £63,000, which is about $105,400 based on current exchange rates.

2012 Land Rover LR4

Unfortunately, for buyers within the United States, the Discovery 4 is not available. Stateside, this Land Rover is called the LR4, and it comes with a 5.0-liter V-8. Besides the location of the steering wheel, the LR4 doesn’t differ greatly from its overseas counterpart.

The LR4 comes with Land Rover’s famous Terrain Response system with its five different terrain settings including general, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand, and rocks. Stadium-style seating mean all seven passengers get a good view forward. Hovering above is a panoramic sunroof with a moonroof for the the driver and front passenger.

The LR4 starts at $49,995 and climbs quickly to over $60,000 for a loaded HSE LUX model.
