Land Rover only recently unveiled the official details on the new-generation Range Rover , but that doesn’t mean their work with the Range Rover is done. As these spy shots reveal, the company is also working on a LWB (long wheel-base) version of the luxury SUV that will be unveiled sometime in 2013.
The Range Rover LWB was specially developed for markets like Russia and China where they associate extra leg room with extreme luxury. For this reason, the upcoming Range Rover LWB will offer more space in the backseat - a perfect addition for those looking for extra space for the kids or for those who just like to relax in the backseat while the driver takes them to the opera.
As for the engine lineup, we expect to see the same choices as in the standard model: a choice of two diesel engines and one gasoline engine. The diesel lineup will include a 3.0-liter TDV6 delivering 258 horsepower and 4.4-liter SDV8 with 339 horsepower. The gas engine will be a supercharged LR-V8 with 510 horsepower.

To no surprise, the LWB version will look nearly identical to the standard Range Rover. Up front, we will see the usual grille and headlights, plus the large air intakes on the front grille.
The LWB model does differentiate itself from the base model from the side view, as you can easily notice that the rear doors are significantly longer and the wheelbase is extended about 150 mm (5.90 inches) to allow more space for the backseat riders.
At the rear it will once again be similar to the standard version and will get the new taillights unveiled in the fourth-generation Range Rover and a powerful bumper.
Audi is currently working on a new-generation Q7. If the initial rumors hold true, the model will also offer a XXL version. The next Q7 will be built using a new construction process that will include intense use of aluminum, which will make the Q7 about 650 pounds lighter than the current generation. The next Q7 will also be smaller than the model it replaces and rumors suggest it will offer a hybrid version for the first time.

While it’s not an LWB version, the new BMW X5 is already offered with a seven-seat variant for customers with larger families. The third-generation BMW X5 will be offered with a choice of three engines: a base 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine with a total output of 300 horsepower, a 4.4-liter V-8 engine (N63) that delivers a total of 445 horsepower and a 3.0-liter diesel engine that delivers a total of 255 horsepower.

Land Rover has sold the Range Rover SUV since 1970. The model was previewed in 1967 when the first prototype was unveiled, but the final design form wasn’t unveiled until 1969.
The first generation was sold between 1970 and 1996 and was the longest-running generation. The model was initially offered with a 135-horsepower V-8 engine, but in 1984 the output was increased to 155 horsepower. In 1992 the model received its first diesel engine: a 200TDi with an output of 111 horsepower.
The second generation arrived in 1994 and was produced until 2002. The model was offered with an updated version of the usual Rover V-8 engine, plus a 2.5 liter BMW six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
In 2002 the company unveiled the third generation Range Rover. It shared many components and systems with the BMW 7-Series and was offered with V-8 engines. For the third-generation, Land Rover decided to drop the manual gearbox and only offered an automatic one.
In 2005 the lineup was expanded with the addition of a Sport version .
The fourth generation arrived at the end of 2012. It comes with an updated exterior and interior look and a choice of two diesel engines and a petrol option. The diesel line-up will include a 3.0-liter TDV6 engine delivering 258 horsepower and a 4.4-liter SDV8 engine with 339 horsepower. Top version gets a LR-V8 Supercharged with 510 horsepower.
