2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport by Mansory

It’s been a while since we last heard from Swiss tuner Mansory . So we were admittedly caught by surprise when the tuner sent us details of its new aftermarket program. We’ve gotten used to Mansory building insane-looking kits for supercars we forgot that it’s equally adept in dressing up SUVs like the Range Rover Sport .

The tuner’s program for the Range Rover Sport is typical Mansory. It’s got a comprehensive mix of aerodynamic and performance upgrades for a wide range of Range Rover models, including the Sport and the Vogue.

You only need to look at the photos to see how different the Range looks. It didn’t satisfied our overwhelming seal of approval, but some of us do think that it’s an acquired taste, which really is what Mansory is all about.

But we can’t argue about the engine upgrade on the Range Rover Sport, which includes a pulley kit used in addition to the famed Mansory engine control unit. Mansory’s got the pulse of every mechanical program it does and this one for the Range is no different.

Kind of makes up for that over-the-top look of the British luxury SUV.

We like the whole program as a whole, but we would’ve liked it even more if Mansory had toned down on the aerodynamic components just a little bit. The lower bumper, in particular, looks too aggressive for a luxurious SUV like the Range Rover Sport. Maybe it can work on the Evoque to a lesser degree, just not too much on the Range.

The rear section looks a lot better because Mansory didn’t do too much to it other than slap on a roof spoiler, a tweaked bumper, and a more aggressive diffuser. These are subtle changes that make an impact as a whole.

The carbon fiber additions are a nice touch, even if they’re mostly relegated to parts of the car largely unseen by the public. Still, it adds a splash of luxury that fits right into the Range Rover Sport’s high-class status.

You might not see it from this photo, but this Range Rover Sport features Mansory’s Powerbox engine kit, which was used to improve the SUV’s power numbers.

The 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel trim gets an impressive 326 horsepower at 3,700 rpm and 516 pound-feet of torque at 1,800 rpm. Meanwhile, the turbocharged TDV6 diesel gets an increased output of 285 horsepower at 3,700 rpm and 516 pound-feet of torque at 1,800 rpm.

Moving up the engine ladder is the 4.4-liter SDV8 diesel that now produces 374 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 590 pound-feet of torque at 1,300 to 3,500 rpm. Finally, the biggest Range Rover engine, the 5.0-liter V-8, gets a sizable boost to 612 horsepower at 5,800 to 6,500 rpm and 590 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 to 5,500 rpm.

MANSORY Design & Holding GmbH, the renowned sports- and luxury car modification specialists, present their latest developments for the current V6 and V8 range of engines for the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Vogue.

The MANSORY specialists have tapped into the British SUV’s reserves of power, and unlocked an impressive increase in performance from the diesel engines by integrating an additional engine control unit. To increase the power of the supercharged petrol engines, a pulley kit is used in addition to the additional engine control unit. This increases the manifold pressure in the standard supercharger due to a change in transmission, which forces a greater amount of compressed oxygen into the combustion chamber.

Once the MANSORY-Powerbox is fitted in a simple Plug & Play process, the 3.0l SDV6 diesel engine has 243kW/330PS at 3,700 rpm at its disposal. At the same time, torque increases to an impressive 700Nm at 1,800 rpm (production model: 215kW/292PS at 4,000 rpm and 600Nm at 2,000 rpm). The turbocharged 3.0l TDV6 diesel engine becomes 214kW/290PS at 3,700 rpm. The torque increases to 700Nm at 1,800 rpm (production model: 190kW/258PS at 4,000 rpm and 600Nm at 2,000 rpm).

The performance of the 4.4l SDV8 diesel engine, goes up to 279kW/380PS at 3,500 rpm. Torque increases to 800Nm at 1,300 – 3,500 rpm (Production model: 250kW/339PS at 3,500 rpm and 700Nm at 1,750 – 3,500 rpm). The power of the 5.0l V8 petrol engine goes up to a mighty 81kW/110 PS at 456kW/620PS at 5,800 – 6,500 rpm and torque increases to a veritable mountain-moving 800Nm at 2,000 – 5,500 rpm.
