For the most part, the 2013 Range Rover Sport doesn’t really need too many updates, since it is already quite the looker and rather powerful straight off of the showroom floor. Also going against it is the fact that the 2014 model is all-new. Despite that, tuners seem to be flocking to this model in recent weeks

The Range Rover Sport received a new upgrade kit from the German tuner, CDC International GmbH. It focused most of its work on updating the exterior and the interior look of the car, but CDC also managed to squeeze a few extra horsepower from the 5.0-liter, V-8 supercharged engine.

To milk the extra power, CDC adjusted the supercharger system via a gear change and an updated control unit. As a result, the Range Rover Sport now delivers a total of 580 horsepower and 695 Nm (512 pound-feet) — up from the standard 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque.

The tuner also installed a new stainless-steel exhaust system equipped with a valve system that helps further improve the incredible sound delivered by the V-8 engine.

AS each week closes out, Mo and the folks at KAhn design roll out another fine example of the designer’s customization skills. This time, Kahn based its upgrade on the Land Rover Defender , and Kahn describes it as "a unique interpretation of an iconic vehicle." We couldn’t agree more.

As per usual with Kahn, the new Chelsea Wide Track package includes only exterior and interior updates, and the Defender is a good canvas for this, since it has never been about speed or power. Kahn took to task updating the look of the rugged Defender , and to enhancing its notorious off-road capabilities.

For this, Kahn added in a new aerodynamic kit with new front and rear wings, hood and side vents with mesh stainless steel, stainless-steel mesh for the front grilles,military-style headlights, and Kahn badges on the wing and tailgate.IT’s subtle, but it manages to give the rugged defender a refined look; kind of like putting an unshaven Clint Eastwood in a Armani suit.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR

The first rumors about a more powerful Range Rover Sport started to surface at the beginning of 2013 when the British magazine AutoCar reported that confirmation came from a Land Rover insider. Since then, we’ve caught it testing a few times, and today we have images from its latest testing session on Nurbugring.

Compared to the previous times that we’ve caught it, this time the prototype is singing its favorite tune through a new quad-tailpipe exhaust system, and there is also a nice space between these pipes for a diffuser.

On the front bumper, there are massive air intakes and there are some new heat extractors on the hood to help keep that hulking V-8 good and cool. There are no official details on the type of engine that these intakes and vents are keeping cool, but rumors suggest that the new R-S version could get a supercharged V-8 putting down a healthy 550 horsepower.

Expect the new Range Rover Sport R-S to hit a dealers in 2014, shortly after the Range Rover Evoque R-S .

It looks like the British design firm, Kahn Design, is really in love with the new-generation Land Rover Range Rover , as it has announced quite a few new upgrades for it in the past few weeks. The latest one was announced at the end of August , and it featured a sweet satin-matte-black exterior paint.

Today the designer released the first details on a new, RS600 package. It will be unveiled at the end of 2013 and, as usual, it will all about updating the aesthetics of the luxury SUV. Kahn will also reveal a special-edition model called the "Black Label Edition" in early 2014.

The upgrades include a new aerodynamic kit, with new front and rear spoiler and vents, a specially prepared wheel arch kit, and a set of upgraded wheels. For the interior, the designer offers its customers the possibility to express themselves in any way they see fit.

The Range Rover Evoque has quickly become the hottest-selling model in Land Rover ’s lineup and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down for 2014, thanks to a new release from the automaker. While all of the specifics of the 2014 Evoque are still unknown, Land Rover UK has outlined some of the technological advancements the model will carry into 2014 — we assume these will be a part of the 2014 U.S.-spec Evoque too.

The U.S. market receives the same 2.0-liter engine as last year’s model, which puts out a respectable 240 horsepower. These engines all link up to an all-new nine-speed ZF-sourced transmission, which has unperceivable shifts and wide spread of gear ratios to make for smooth acceleration and excellent fuel economy.

Also new for 2014 is the Active Driveline, which according to Land Rover is an "on-demand" four-wheel drive system that enhances agility and improves fuel economy, thanks to it deactivating the rear wheels at speeds over 22 mph. However, should the Evoque need that extra grip over 22 mph, the system takes less than 300 milliseconds to activate the rear wheels. Additionally, an E-Diff on the rear delivers Torque Biasing between the rear wheels for optimal traction and control.

Safety features also take center stage in 2014, as the Evoque will feature Park Exit to help you pull out of parallel parking spots; Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection to warn the driver of traffic behind the vehicle; Lane Departure Warning; Traffic Sign Recognition; and Wade Sensing. Also included will be Land Rover InControl Remote to contact emergency services in the event of an accident or Land Rover Assist in the event of technical issues, and Land Rover InControl Secure to track the vehicle in the event of a theft.

And finally, there are a few aesthetic changes that include minor detail changes on the exterior, new colors for the interior, four new alloy wheels and revised :and Rover badges.

More details will come as we get closer to the model’s release in Europe in the third quarter of 2013.

Updated 9/12/2013: Land Rover has released all of the pricing details on the 2014 Range Rover Evoque. It starts at $41,995. See the full pricing details after the jump.

It’s hard to confuse the Land Rover defender for a modern-day all-road utility vehicle.

The aesthetics pretty much give it away off the bat. But even with the utilitarian façade, the Defender is still capable of getting a luxury treatment. German tuner, Startech, proved that with its latest program for the Defender , which is headed to the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show .

The official details have yet to be revealed, but judging by the photos we’re seeing, the Defender definitely looks like its ready to dance at Frankfurt, packed with aesthetic and aero modifications, including a redesigned grille, a new set of LED headlamps and plenty of aluminum accents.

The interior is where the Defender looks to have leveled-up to become a true wonder of luxury. The wooden floors on the rear are a nice touch, as are the premium trims that seem to have been appropriately placed inside the Defender’s cabin.

Plenty of leather and Alcantara were also used inside the Defender, highlighting the contrast in personality the exterior and the interior of this utility vehicle.

More details are set to arrive once the Frankfurt Auto Show opens its doors. But we gotta say, this Startech program really captures our imaginations.

The fourth-generation Land Rover Discovery — known as the LR4 in the U.S. — was launched in 2009 and since then, it’s remained relatively unchanged. That’s all about to change, as for the 2014 model year the SUV receives a revised exterior look and more importantly, the old gas-burning V-8 engine gets the old heave-ho in favor of the new, 3.0-liter V-6 engine that is more fuel-efficient and delivers nearly the same performance figures.

For the 2014 model year, the Discovery receives a new front fascia that includes new, headlights, "Discovery" badges and bumper. Land Rover continues to offer the Black Design Pack, which updates the exterior look even further and adds new 20-inch alloy wheels.

Land Rover is taking fuel economy concerns with a stiff upper lip and a cup of tea, relaxed as it starts taking UK orders for its 45 mpg 2015 Range Rover SDV6 Hybrid flagship starting in September 2013. The first customer deliveries are expected in early 2014, wearing far fewer off-road accessories and prepared for a life of luxury.

This pair of test prototypes is enduring the opposite of luxury: a 10,000-mile durability journey from Land Rover headquarters in England to Tata Group ’s home base in Mumbai. Called the Silk Trail 2013 experience, the plucky Brits seem to have forgotten their own maritime excellence, and the blue part of the map that has long been the best passage to India.

Calling it the Silk Trail is more accurate than its other description, the Silk Road. Mud up to the door mirrors cannot stop the Range Rover Hybrid’s mission.

Going over land is a bold undertaking, and also highlights the production 2015 Range Rover Hybrid’s fuel economy and off-road credentials along the way. Arriving in Mumbai around 55 days later, taking a brand new Range Rover into dozens of foreign countries along the way is certainly a vote of confidence in its reliability - long a sore spot for this advanced machine.

A 3.0-liter diesel engine is paired with a jumbo 35kWh Li-ion battery pack, which is fully production-ready and will also be rolled out on the seven-seat 2015 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Hybrid as well.

The diesel-electric power is not exactly peachy news for U.S. Range Rover devotees, but the technology package should work well with Land Rover ’s new 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 as well.

Updated 09/13/2013: When Land Rover launched the first details on the Range Rover Hybrid everyone believed it will be an European-only model. However, in a recent interview Andy Goss, the current CEO of Jaguar Land Rover USA confirmed that a North American version of the Range Rover hybrid "It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’" (LeftLaneNews)

Kahn Design is at it again with a blacked-out 2013 Range Rover Vogue available as a complete model in the U.K. for the equivalent of about $115,000. It takes a bold vision to strip away the Range Rover ’s iconic hood letters in favor of your own design firm, so how does Kahn Design add value to what is already the Rolls-Royce Phantom of SUVs?

This is a look-good design pack consisting of gorgeous alloy wheels, liquid gold-painted brake calipers and satin-matte-black exterior accents all around. Inside, things are much more conservative, with perforated leather in thatched bulges over piano black trim.

Compared with the hideous previous monochrome packages that celebs have driven over the years, this version is pretty conservative and quite stylish. The Kahn Design plan is far more popular on off-roaders versus the other celeb and ’footballer’ ride of choice: the Bentley Continental GT.

Among these ‘super smart’ individuals, value is much more about being unique and of the moment. If buying a brand new car to their exact modified spec is faster but a bit more expensive, Kahn is only savvy to oblige their whims.
