2009 Land Rover Defender Fire and Ice

As we’ve mentioned before, the Defender will be available in two variations, Fire and Ice. While they don’t exactly boast of the latest state of the art navigation systems, both the Fire and Ice still come equipped with a few features that will make anyone take notice. From the Recaro bucket seats, to the yards of leather and Alcantara trim all the way up to the oversized glass sunroof panel; the Defender is a well optioned vehicle.

The hot edition is covered in Vesuvius Orange metallic paint and features Santorini black accents on the exterior, while the cooler edition comes with an Alaska white paint job and the same black accents on the outside.

These special edition Defenders will go on sale for around €68,400 ($95,000) and before you complain about the rather exorbitant asking price for something so basic, we have to ask you to consider that Land Rover will only make 850 of these limited edition Defenders. So when you see one of these bad boys roaming the urban jungle, it is advised not to scoff at the vehicle’s rather bland appearance, because more often than not, these stripped down Defenders just might be more expensive than what you’re driving.

Land Rover is introducing two exciting new limited edition models of the iconic Defender 4x4 – the Defender Fire and Defender Ice.

Inspired by the world’s most challenging landscapes – where Defenders have earned their reputation for rugged dependability – the Fire & Ice models blend classic Land Rover functionality with a stunning new style.

The limited editions feature striking two-tone colour schemes. Defender Fire combines a scorching metallic ‘Vesuvius’ orange with metallic ‘Santorini’ black roof, bonnet, centre grille and wheel arches. Defender Ice contrasts the cooler shade of ‘Alaska’ white with the same bold black panels.

The exteriors are finished off with some eye-catching details including ‘diamond turned’ five spoke alloy wheels, black side runners, LED rear lamps with clear lenses, and a unique front light treatment.

Inside the Fire & Ice models, the cabins feature superior materials and special interior treatments to complement the style and functionality of the exterior. The seats combine black leather borders with attractive grey Alcantara centre panels, and head restraints with an embossed Land Rover logo.

Splashes of bold colour bring added life to the interior design. The centre switch panels use the same orange or white paint finish as the exterior, while contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, centre cubby box and carpet mats is coordinated to match.

For that extra degree of personalisation, a range of tough optional accessories is available including an A-frame protection bar, a raised air intake, a ribbed aluminium undershield, aluminium wing top protectors and a chequer plate protection kit in black, a luggage rack or a roof sports bar system.

The Fire & Ice limited editions are available with the 90 or 110 Station Wagon bodystyles. Prices start at [S$168,888].

Just [6] Defender Fire and Defender Ice models will be offered in [Singapore], with a total of 850 vehicles planned to be sold worldwide. Production is due to start in early summer 2009, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin later in the summer.
