The European tuner Unichip has unveiled a new tuning package for the Land Rover Discovery Series 2. Called the "Sport Conversion," the new package increases the engine’s power to 176 bhp (49 bhp over the standard model) at 4000 rpm and 279 lb.ft of torque at 2957 rpm (an increase of 63 lb.ft). For this power increase, Unichip added a new ‘U-Connect’ plug and play Unichip ECU, designed and developed specifically for the TD5. This unit comes pre-mapped by Unichip Europe with adjustments to fueling and turbo boost levels to maximize performance throughout the rev range. Fitted in minutes, courtesy of its specially developed wiring loom, the Unichip’s ECU map is the end result of months of dyno and road testing, towing and off road assessment to ensure optimized settings and reliability. The price for the Unichip Europe Sport conversion is £1396.00 and the price for the Unichip U-Connect ECU package separately is £630.09. Press release after the jump. Press release It’s long been the farmer’s favourite, but the venerable Land Rover Discovery Series 2 TD5’s rugged nature and off road capabilities have ensured the model’s enduring popularity with the motoring public. However, even in acclaimed TD5 format, few could ever label the 135 bhp, Series 2 model as ‘potent,’ especially when overtaking or towing with heavy loads. 13 comments: Land Rover Discovery TD5 Sport by Unichip I definitely agree with you but may I ask if there are chances to see this kind of stunt. If you have videos on Youtube, please share it here. This was a longoverdue request.
Personally, I do love the Land Rover, I guess they are the best option when it comes to off-road activities.
Oh no! I don’t like the aesthetic of this model of Land Rover! It’s so hideous and outdated. I think the team creative needs to focus in modifying the body package.
You’re taking quite a leap placing an A8 and a Range Rover both as 4x4 vehicles. The modern Range Rover you speak of has a low-range transfer case. The A8 does not.
This latest Land Rover was designed as a like for like swap with the original TD5 turbocharger. No wonder why the engine is so powerful and it’s completely reliable and the interior styling of the Land Rover was well appointed even if its not that stylish.
Wow, with an additional 49hp I bet this thing will be so not as slow. "perfect for towing or off road use." What do you tow with 279lb-ft? I’d like to see this thing merge onto the freeway with traffic going 80mph safely while towing a bike rack.
Handling performance is a definite step up from other Land Rover models. The Range Rover Sport is the first Land Rover to offer the company’s Dynamic Response suspension system, which is standard on the Supercharged model and optional on the HSE.
