2012 Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition by Kahn Design

range rover sport capital city edition by kahn design picture

Ever the expert in tuning programs for the Range Rover, Kahn Design still manages to build some unique packages, further illustrating just how good these guys are when it comes to working on the British SUV brand.

For their latest program, Kahn Design turned their attention towards the Range Rover Sport which they’re calling the Capital City Edition. To keep with their fresh approach in tuning Range Rovers, Kahn Design fitted the Capital City Edition with an RS600 body kit that includes a new front lip, a new rear diffuser, a unique two-tone, tinted windows, smoked lights, and a white-and-red finish with a predominantly white color on the car. This is matched with a red bonnet or a striped red bonnet, and plenty of other red details on the car. In addition, Kahn Design also fitted the Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition with a new set of 22" RS600 wheels finished in matte grey with a red outer lip.

For the interior, Kahn Design will provide a black leather treatment with red accents. Add that to new components like a Kahn instrument binnacle, a new steering wheel, a quilted leather upholstery and aluminum accents and pedals, and you have an overall program that not only speaks to the awesomeness of the Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition, but to the level of expertise Kahn Design continues to exhibit.

Range Rover Evoque wraps up World Car Design of the Year 2012 award

Let’s face it, the vast majority of production cars don’t look like the concept cars they’re based upon. Sure, various features may be carried over, but concept cars allow designers to go crazy and that’s exactly what they did when designing the original Land Rover LRX Concept.

It was so new and innovative that most people believed it would never reach production and if it did, it would undergo massive changes. To the world’s surprise, when it went into production in July 2011 as the Range Rover Evoque it looked almost identical to the stunning concept car. As a result of the car’s incredible styling and its on-road and off-road capabilities, the Evoque has received 103 awards to date from websites, magazines, and newspapers all across the globe.

But arguably the most prestigious award the Evoque has received so far was awarded at the 2012 New York Auto Show where the Evoque was crowned World Car Design of the Year for 2012. No less than 46 nominations were given for the award and the Evoque was shortlisted by five world renowned design experts along with the Citroen DS5 and Volkswagen Up!

Final deliberations were handed over to a panel of 66 automotive journalists from 25 different countries, before the Evoque was crowned the winner. And we can’t say we’re surprised, as it’s an immaculate bit of design and also created a completely new segment in the market.

Land Rover Design Director Gerry McGovern had the following to say, "We are honored that the Range Rover Evoque has been named 2012 World Design Car of the Year. This prestigious accolade recognizes the overwhelmingly positive response that we have received to the Evoque’s bold and dramatic design. It is a car that truly resonates on an emotional level."

2012 Range Rover "Red Ranger" by Kahn Design

Before anybody gets their mighty morphins’ on, we’d like to qualify that this tuned up Range Rover isn’t an ode to the once fearless leader of the Power Rangers. No, it doesn’t have anything to do with the 90’s kiddie show. What it actually is is the latest program from the always busy tuning company, Kahn Design.

Always one to put forth the best product for its loyal customers, Kahn Design has come out with a new program for the Range Rover that they have christened the "Red Ranger." As you can expect from the use of the name, this Range Rover comes dressed with a deep red finish that offers a nice contrast to the black accents fitted into the car. Kahn Design also added an extensive aerodynamic body kit that comprises of a new carbon fiber front grille, side air vents, new front and rear bumper trims, extended front and rear lip spoilers, front LED strips, side skirts, wheel arch extensions, quad exhaust tailpipes, and last but certainly not least, a new set of 22" Kahn RS600 wheels.

As far as the interior is concerned, Kahn Design opted to reverse the color scheme, using black leather and carbon fiber trims as the main ingredient with red touches on the door panels and the leather stitching.

A lot of Kahn’s programs are impressive, but we like the Range Rover "Red Ranger" for its simplistic - yet classy - appeal. Either way, it’s another tremendous program from the folks that have made a living impressing us all.

2013 Land Rover DC100 Expedition Concept

Land Rover is continuing its series of DC100 concepts with a new Expedition version. The new concept was built to celebrate Land Rover’s 25 year presence on the North American market and is equipped for expedition use. The concept also explores possible design directions for the future of the iconic Land Rover Defender.

The new DC100 Expedition features an air-intake snorkel for wading and a roof mounted equipment rack. The list of design cues that will be used for the upcoming Defender include extreme approach and departure angles, vertical panels, an upright windscreen, and strong shoulder line for visibility and ease of positioning. The honest Defender ’face’ with its signature round lamps and prominent grille is featured, and a winch is incorporated to the fascia.

The DC100 Expedition Concept will also be equipped with a new Terrain Response system which will optimize the car for various conditions without driver pre-selection. A new Terrain-i system creates an intelligent map of the topography in front of the car and displays it as a 3D visualization. The concept also comes with a new Wade Aid system that utilizes sonar sensors mounted in the bumpers and side mirrors to measure water depth.

2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition

Anytime they attend a major auto show, the fine chaps over at Land Rover are always looking to make a splash. Look no further for all the evidence than the 2012 New York Auto Show where, to the surprise of no one, the British automaker has revealed a pair of special edition models.

Joining the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition in waving to the New York crowd is the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition. While it doesn’t carry all the luxury bells and whistles of its co-debutante, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition is still cool enough to justify its limited edition billing.

For starters, the model will only come in a choice of two exterior paint finishes - Fuji White and Santorini Black - while also receiving a slew decorative trim pieces tacked in various parts of the SUV. Inside, there’s not as much leather, but there is plenty of bespoke carbon fiber trim to go with contrast leather in red and black with contrast stitching.

As far as power goes, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition will make use of a supercharged V8 that delivers a tidy 510 horsepower. And just in case you’re wondering how "limited" this limited edition Range Rover is, Land Rover will only be building 500 units of this bad boy, exclusively for the US market.

UPDATE 05/18/2012: Landrover has just revealed that the US market will get 500 units of the new Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition, only 300 units in Santorini Black and 200 units in Fuji White.

2012 Land Rover LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition

There’s no shortage of auto debuts going on at the 2012 New York Auto Show and Land Rover is joining in on the fun with the premier of two special edition models that are set to be made available later in 2012.

One of these models is based on the Land Rover LR4 and it’s called the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition. As its name will obviously tell you, the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition has been touched up with plenty of high-class accessories.

On the outside, the SUV was finished in an exclusive Santorini Black paint finish to go with silver touches on the front grille surround, the full-length roof rails, the mirror housing, the bonnet script, and the tailgate badge. In addition, Land Rover decided to give the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition’s wheels some spunk, courtesy of a new set of 20" 10-spoke alloy rims.

Moving to the interior, you’ll find a leather explosion, courtesy of an expanded leather treatment dressed in an Arabica color. The SUV’s door tops, door pulls, arm rests, and dashboard fascia all carry the same leather material that’s complemented by a contrast stitched detailing and a Dark Zebrano wood veener. And if all that leather isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition also has plenty of the standard features, including an 825 watt, 17-speaker Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 Premium Audio System, 8" screens, wireless headphones, and last but certainly not least, a Center Console Cooler Box.

The LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition will be made available worldwide with the UK understandably getting first dibs at the car. The price tag for the limited edition SUV on the other side of the pond starts at £56,995, which is around $90,500 based on current exchange rates.

2012 Range Rover Evoque Champagne Bollinger Edition

The annual Vinitaly event in Italy is considered one of the most prestigious and most important exhibition of wines and spirits in the world. And as we all know in the industry, events like this are the perfect opportunity for collaborative projects.

This year, that opportunity was seized by Land Rover when they struck a partnership with the Aznom for a special and exclusive take on the popular Range Rover Evoque SUV that was dedicated to Champagne Bollinger.

The model, called the Evoque Bollinger, was dressed in a two-tone red-gold color scheme with a matching black roof that carries the famous "bubbles" logo of Bollinger. In addition, the front seat headrests inside the SUV were imprinted with "Evoque Bollinger" while the trunk was fitted with two specially-designed air-conditioned rooms that can carry a total of 12 bottles of - what else? - Champagne Bollinger.

The Evoque Bollinger Edition doesn’t appear to be an SUV for sale so those interested will have to hold on to their wallets. Chances are, though, the special edition SUV will be headed to an auction so we’ll be on the look-out for that.

2012 Range Rover Sport Vesuvius edition by A Kahn Design

Another week, another very cool tuning package coming from Kahn Design. Based on a Land Rover model, of course, their new Range Rover Sport Vesuvius Edition is as impressive as any other tuning kit we have seen coming from them. As you probably are used by now the package includes a series of modifications made to both the exterior and the interior, but nothing has been modified under the hood.

For the exterior Kahn is offering a wide track aerodynamic styling package with vented wide wheel arches and integrated LED daytime running lights, quad stainless steel exhaust system, liquid gold calipers, RS front grille with 3d mesh, grille insert in carbon fiber, exhaust side vents and Kahn branding. The car will be offered with matte pearl grey door handles, Vesuvius orange side vents and a grille surround.

The interior comes with bespoke RS front and rear seats in diamond quilted perforated black leather with Vesuvius orange inserts, matching centre arm rest and door tops, carbon fibre interior facia trim, speedo & rev counter in red, diamond gear selector, Churchill time clock with Swarovski diamond bezel, Kahn illuminated sill plates and machined foot pedals.

Under the hood the engine remains untouched: the 3.0 liter SDV6 diesel engine produces 256hp at 4,000rpm with a maximum torque of 442 lbs-ft at 2,000rpm.

2012 Range Rover Evoque Convertible by Startech

It’s a little odd to see a vehicle model make its debut at the same show where a tuning company will unveil a tuning program that highlights the very same thing the model is featuring. But such is what’s going to happen when Land Rover premieres the Range Rover Evoque Convertible at the same time as noted tuning company Startech is introducing their Evoque Convertible program.

A little confused now?

The latter’s program isn’t actually based on the Evoque Convertible that Land Rover will be presenting. What they did is develop their own open-top version of the Evoque independent from what Land Rover did on their new model.

Details behind Startech’s Evoque Convertible program have yet to be divulged, but it’s becoming apparent that we might have two Evoque Convertible models in attendance at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Check out the teaser photo Startech released of their Evoque Convertible program leading up to its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

2012 Range Rover Evoque by Hamann

Hamann Motorsport is getting ready to troop to Geneva for one of the biggest auto shows in the world and one of the vehicles that they’ll be proudly showing off is the new Range Rover Evoque. Their rendition of the luxury SUV has been decked from head to rear with the kind of comprehensive tuning program that Hamann is known for.

On the outside, the German tuning company fitted the British SUV with a bold aerodynamic package that includes a two-part front spoiler, side wing extensions, side sill sets that have widened the Evoque’s body by 70mm at the front and 80mm at the rear, and a new set of 22" wheels to go with a one-piece 22" wheel that is currently being offered in either the Anniversary Evo and Anniversary Evo Black line.

Inside, Hamann is offering customers an opportunity to customize the interior of their Range Rover Evoque, complete with a full-leather upholstery, personalized floor mats, and customized trim options.

The other highlight of Hamann’s program for the Range Rover Evoque is the engine modification. Thanks to a comprehensive program that includes a new exhaust system, a new sports air filter, and a remapped ECU unit, Hamann was able to achieve significant output improvements on all three engine options of the Evoque. The first one is the 2.2-liter TD4 engine, which saw its output increase from 148 horsepower to 179 horsepower. The second engine - the 2.2-liter ED4 engine - saw its output jump from 187 horsepower to 218 horsepower. Finally, the most powerful of the three Evoque engines - the 2.2 Si4 - increased its output from 240 horsepower to 278 horsepower.
