Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus , has made no bones about their aggressive approach in trying to compete against the big boys from Europe. Some might think that it’s a case of these guys biting off more than they could chew, but if you believe in them, then the Lexus IS-F just may be the car that will get the brand the kind of respect it deserves.

Since 2010, the IS-F has offered plenty of impressive technical elements with complementary aesthetic improvements, the new model of the IS-F will definitely get you to notice it. The powertrain - a 5.0-liter V8 engine - remains the same, but that shouldn’t hinder the car from being something that customers take a real good look at. After all, it still comes with 417 horsepower and is capable of hitting a top speed of 167 mph.

In a market dominated by cars like the BMW M3 , the 2012 Lexus IS-F is going to need about as much ammo as it can carry to be able to stand up against the big boys. For the 2012 model, Lexus did enough to convince us that they just might have something on their hands.

Toyota ’s premium brand, Lexus , has officially introduced their new IS Convertible with the hope that it could enter a market long dominated by its European counterparts, including BMW and Audi . Characterized as a stylish convertible with luxurious amenities, the 2012 IS Convertible offers plenty of that and so much more.

The sophisticated machine capably blends the stylishness and sportiness of a convertible with the more tuned-down approach of a coupe in one package. There’s plenty to like about the car, from the easy transformation of coupe to convertible and vice versa in just 21 seconds all the way to the new Nebula Gray Pear exterior finish.

The choice of trim for the IS Convertible, whether its the 250C or the 350C, also offers a choice of powertrain, from the more fuel efficient 2.5-liter V6 for the former and the more powerful 3.5-liter V6 for the latter.

For the 2012 IS-C, versatility is the name of the game. And whatever trim option you choose, you’ll be certain to get a car that gives you exactly what you’re looking for.

This year has been a little lackluster for Lexus in terms of beating our their competition, but the luxury end of Toyota is getting back on track for what it says will be a couple of exciting years. With all its latest innovations, Lexus is planning a few big things to battle it out against the likes of BMW and Mercedes. This includes a full refresh of its luxury sedans, as well as a kick-the-competition-in-the-ass LF-A Roadster.

The passenger-car lineup will be made over by the spring of 2013, as the GS , ES , IS , and LS sedans will all be either redesigned or re-engineered. However, the biggest gun in the arsenal will be the LF-A supercar . The 500 units for the current LF-A coupe will be finished by 2013, then a roadster version will be unveiled in 2014. This model was actually previewed by the LF-A Roadster concept unveiled in 2008, but the production version will feature the company’s latest design language. Lexus hasn’t said anything about the more powerful version of their LF-A supercar rumored a while ago, but we hope that will be their secret weapon somewhere down the line.

In addition to the sedan redo and the drop top LF-A, Lexus also has plans for the future GS-F performance edition and the LS . The company has said that the high-performance version will not feature a conventional V8 engine, but a hybrid drivetrain. The LS will also be redesigned in 2013 - it will get weight-saving technology using premium materials and a new, more economical engine.

Lexus is offering its British customers a limited edition IS 250C for this summer. It will be limited to only 50 units and is now on sale at a price of £39,990 on the road (around $64,000 at the current exchange rates).

The new IS 250C Limited Edition will be distinguished by black and red semi-aniline fine leather interior, perfect for cutting a dash when driving with the top down. Each unit will get a numbered badge fixed inside the glovebox in order to denote its special status. The model is equipped with a quick and quiet deploying electric folding roof that goes up and down in just a few seconds after the touch of a button.

The list of standard equipments will include 18" alloy wheels, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats with built-in ventilation and heating, cruise control, electric one-touch easy access to the rear seats, climate control that automatically adjusts temperature settings when the roof is down, and cruise control.

Lexus UK took two of the company’s most powerful models, theLF-A supercar and the IS-F sports sedan and put them to race at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground track. Of course is needless to say who the winner was, but the video is a really amazing, especially the first part where it shows the LFA’s speedometer. It makes you feel like you are driving in a car game.

Of course you know Lexus will build only 500 LF-A supercars and the one featured in this video is the car number 16.

By the numbers: the LF-A is powered by a 4.8 liter V10 that delivers a maximum output of 560 HP at 9,000 RPM and a peak torque of 354 lb-ft at 6,800 RPM, and it can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds. On the other hand, the IS-F sports sedan gets a 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 416 HP at 6,600 rpm and 371 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 5,200 rpm and can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Of course the LF-A has an enormous advantage, but watching the two cars together is a real show!

When we got our turn with the new Lexus F-Sports Edition , we weren’t all that impressed with the suped up IS 350C. Lexus had basically taken their boring sedan and juiced it up just for the sheer sport of it and, as it turns out, a geek on steroids still isn’t all that cool. Now it seems as if Lexus is bringing it back for the 2011MY, but with a few changes in its price and number of units.

Either people agreed with us and Lexus is lowering the price with the hopes that more units will sell and even out their bottom line, or the company thinks more people should get the chance to drive around in their pseudo-sports car. Something tells us that the jump from 100 units to 175 and the $55,120 (down from last year’s $57,500) price tag is more of a bargaining chip than it is a gesture of sincerity. Either way, the Lexus IS 350C F Sport Special Edition will go on sale at the end of February 2011.

Lexus didn’t concern themselves with upgrading the engine of the vehicle, which is probably a good thing because the car couldn’t handle the power it was given to begin with, but they did add a few new F Sport Performance accessories to make it worth our while - not that it is. They also changed the exterior colors from Tungsten Pearl and Obsidian to Starfire Pearl and Obsidian.

Just when you thought Toyota had gotten over their 2010 recall catastrophe, their sister brand, Lexus , is starting the year of by catching the proverbial ‘bug’.

There really is no rest for the weary, is there?

The Japanese automaker is issuing a voluntary safety recall involving 245,000 vehicles of the GS and IS models over what appears to be a potential defect that could cause fuel leakage.

According to Lexus, the problem is caused by a problem with the connection between the vehicle’s fuel pressure sensor and a fuel line that could loosen over time. This, in turn, could lead to a possible fuel leak.

Affected Lexus models include 2006-2007MY GS300 and GS350 models, 2006-2009MY IS250s, and 2006-2008MY IS350s.

While no accidents have been reported yet, Lexus is doing its due diligence in ensuring that it doesn’t end up there. That’s why the company has already issued an order to its dealers to inspect all the affected models and take the necessary precautionary steps to fix the problem for any affected models. In the event a fuel leak is found, dealerships are prepared to replace the gasket found between the fuel sensor and the delivery at no cost to the car owner.

The second customized Lexus IS-F coming out of the Tokyo Auto Salon comes from TRD (Toyota Racing Department). Called the IS-F Club Performance Accessory, this new package gives the most powerful member of the IS family an even bolder appearance.

For the exterior, TRD added a carbon hood, front and rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. TRD then went inside the car and gave it a carbon switch panel base, paddle shift, sports seats covered in orange leather, and a carbon engine cover.

Finally, to deliver an even more impressive driving experience, the Club Performance Accessory gets sports suspension and brakes, a titanium exhaust, magnesium forged wheels, and a mechanical LSD. There were no modifications done under the hood, but the IS-F is already powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 416 HP at 6,600 rpm and 371 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 5,200 rpm so who needs more than that, right?

One of the most impressive vehicles displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon was the Lexus IS F Circuit Club Sports Racer (CCS-R), and if anyone thinks it looks a bit familiar then they would be right. Seen as a concept at last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, the CCS-R is making its comeback in a more production ready form.

The Lexus IS-F Circuit Club Sports Racer upgrades the standard sports car by changing all of its major components like the exterior, interior, and engine. It has been given the full on carbon fiber treatment and has also received a power boost to boot! Since no racer is complete without an additional racing overhaul, Lexus has made sure that the IS-F received all of the necessary components to keep the vehicle safely on the track, including a unique frame-less construction roll cage.

All in all, this version of the Lexus IS-F Circuit Club Sports Racer hasn’t changed all that much from the concept that was shown last year, but we still can’t help but ogle it just as we did last year.

Some customers haven’t even had the chance to fully break in their new Lexus IS 350 sedan and already the company is offering them the chance to spice up their vehicle with some F Sport Performance accessories. Only some of the most important attributes can be updated, such as forged alloy wheels, brake upgrades, suspension systems, air intake, and a sports exhaust system.

The F Sport accessories can take your everyday IS 350 and push it in the right direction towards becoming more like the IS-F sports sedan. They will get the Lexus to look like one, but getting the same power as the IS-F Sport will need a completely different trip to a willing and able tuner. Without that trip, the IS 350 with F Sport accessories will get a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing a total of 306 HP at 6,400 RPM and 277 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm.

The IS 350 is priced at $38,570 in the RWD version, or at $41,030 in AWD version, but the F-Sport package will tack much more depending on the options chosen.
