The ES soars, thanks to a powerful 3.3-liter, four-cam, 24-valve V6 engine that churns out 218 magnificent horses . The throttle body consists of an advanced drive-by-wire Electronic Throttle Control System with intelligence (ETCS-i), which connects the gas pedal directly to the engine's computer, giving you a more immediate engine response and a more thrilling ride.

The ES owes its smooth, elegant ride in part to its revised five-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) that gives you smoother shifting and effortless acceleration. Improved grade logic holds the transmission in lower gear when going downhill, decreasing the amount of braking necessary so there's less brake wear.

Disc brakes dissipate heat and perform better than drum brakes. The ES features ventilated front disc brakes that have special ducts inside the discs to help reduce the heat that can accelerate brake fade.

With its four-wheel independent, MacPherson strut suspension, every wheel of the ES can react to bumps in the road independently and absorb the shock more gracefully.

Yet another way the ES can adapt to its driver: The available four-wheel Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) customizes the suspension to the terrain and your driving style. A console switch allows you to choose among four settings, ranging from Comfort to Sport.

Different situations require different steering boosts. With the engine-speed-sensing, progressive power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering of the ES, the steering boost automatically adjusts to your situation, whether you need more help for parking or less for highway driving.
