Somebody once told us that inspiration comes in many forms and once it hits, it can turn even the most mundane of things into masterpieces. Who knew that in the mind of designer Jiyun Seo, he could turn the principles of origami into an actual design study.

Strange as it sounds, that's what Seo was able to accomplish by penning the Project Lexus->ke47 Aileron. Seo based the car's overall look on an accordion-like surface featuring sheets of paper that serve the purpose of an aileron, hence the name.

In the glossary of aeronautic terms, an aileron is actually hinged flight control devices that's attached to the trailing edge of the wing to help the aircraft maintain control and stability. Seo wanted to take this principle and utilize it on his study, turning the body of the car into something that allows air to pass through thus achieving less weight while also increasing both its speed and fuel efficiency.

Combining this unorthodox system with a design that features an aggressive body made out of a bio-steel construction and layers and layers of swooping cars and you have a car that certainly has a place in the annals of awesome futuristic vehicles that we'll probably never see in our lifetime.

Such a shame considering that all things considered, the whole principle of the Lexus Aileron Project, including the shape-shifting and the prevalent use of paper origami - we hope its waterproof paper, by the way - is something that would be most welcome in the future of the industry.
