The Lincoln LS is a four-door luxury sports sedan with power, ride and handling performance that establish it as a unique driver's car that sacrifices nothing in terms of luxury and comfort.

This year, Lincoln LS models will be available only with the V-8 engine in Sport trim. Two new option packages - Elite and Premium - combine popular equipment choices, while two new 17-inch wheel styles, two new paint colors and sleek new front and rear details freshen the design.

Design and Equipment

Updates to the classic Lincoln LS exterior for 2006 include the clean front and rear treatments from the 2005 LSE Appearance Package, including a one-piece front bumper cover with round fog lamps, chrome grille with body-color surround and body-color rear license plate trim.

Five-spoke machined aluminum wheels are standard equipment, while high-intensity discharge headlamps are available. One-piece rocker moldings and window trim, hidden windshield washer jets and chrome exhaust tips are some of the details that give LS its refined appearance.

Inside, LS has aluminum accents or available real American walnut burl on the door trim, instrument panel, steering wheel and shifter. It also features standard leather seating surfaces, power front seats and a dual-zone automatic climate control system with air filtration. A premium audio system with CD and cassette capability is standard equipment.

Heated and cooled front seats are available for extra comfort year-round, while an available navigation system with Lincoln Soundmark® THX Certified Audio System provides phenomenally accurate sound reproduction.

Storage space inside the LS includes center and overhead consoles and in-door map pockets. An electric parking brake frees up space for a large center console with adjustable arm rest.

Powertrain and Chassis

For 2006, the Lincoln LS is powered by an all-aluminum 32-valve, DOHC 3.9-liter V-8 engine. It produces 280 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque.

The five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission has a SelectShift™ feature that allows drivers to manually comm and gear changes.

Enthusiasts have known LS for its athletic performance since its introduction in 1999. From its near 50-50 front-rear weight distribution to its precise steering, excellent grip and minimal body roll, LS strikes a sporty balance between performance and luxury.

Safety and Security

The sophisticated chassis of the LS provides the first measure of safety: controllability. In emergency situations, electronic systems such as the standard anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution and available AdvanceTrac® system help maintain control.

Comprehensive safety equipment includes an optional side-curtain air bag system in addition to the standard dual front and side-impact air bags.

In 2004, LS was named a “Best Pick” by the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, based on offset frontal crash testing. In U.S. government testing, LS earned five-star driver and four-star passenger ratings in frontal impact testing, five stars for rear impact and a five-star rollover rating.
