  Los Angeles Auto Show

Audi has just confirmed that a hybrid version of the Q5 SUV will be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November. The new version will be offered to both Europe and America.

We already know that the Q5 will carry the same hybrid powertrain found in the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg , but we are curious to see what else Audi has planned for the SUV.

The Cayenne Hybrid is powered by a 47 hp electric motor combined to a 333 hp compressor engine. The two drive units deliver a total of 380 HP and peak torque of 427 lb-ft at just 1,000 rpm. However, for the Q5 Hybrid, we expect a 211 HP four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine combined with a 45 hp electric motor which would make it the first compact SUV on the market to utilize a hybrid powertrain.

We’ll get back with more details after the official debut!

UPDATE 10/12/2010: AutoEvolution has just received an email from Audi denying the rumors that the Q5 would be making an appearance at the LA Auto Show. Could this be true or are they just not ready to let the cat out of the bag? You be the judge!

Volkswagen has unveiled today the first images and official details on the new generation Eos that will make its world debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Sales in Europe will begin in mid January 2011.

And like all the latest models in the line-up, the new Eos is characterized by the new Volkswagen design DNA. This includes: redesigned headlights incorporating LED daytime running lights, new grille, two-piece LED taillights and the redesigned bumper with a new diffuser.

The list of technologies that comes with the new Eos includes: multi-function display "Premium" with color display, remote light control Light Assist, and the second generation of Park Assist, Keyless locking, Keyless Access and remote light control.

Under the hood Volkswagen will place two turbocharged direct-injection units delivering 122 HP and 210 HP respectively, but also a new 2.0-TDI engine producing 140 HP with regenerative braking and Start Stop technology. This will help the new Eos to offer a fuel consumption of only 4.8-liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

The Saab 9-4X is coming at us in November during the Los Angeles Auto Show , but since no one in the auto industry can keep a secret for long, the first undisguised image of the future crossover has already surfaced on the internet. Good for us, probably even better for Saab since the buzz will only pick up with each leaked photo or spy shot.

The 9-4X will be built on an all new platform called the Theta Premium that mixes components from GM’s Theta and Epsilon 2 platforms. It will find itself with its own exterior and interior styling, but will have a dashboard design that will be similar to the new 9-5. The 9-4X will be offered with a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine as the sole engine, but Saab is working on a diesel option for the future.

The 9-4X BioPower concept was powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter BioPower turbo engine that delivered 300 HP and strong torque of 295 lb.-ft. With this engine, Saab wanted to demonstrate its commitment to “rightsizing” – achieving sufficient levels of performance with a smaller, more efficient engine.

The time is ticking by and, sooner rather than later, we should have a good list compiled as to who will be showcasing what at the Paris Auto Show. And while we finish up that list, we have already begun compiling the Los Angeles Auto Show as well. Nissan has announced their lineup for the Los Angeles Auto Show plenty of time before the November show. Under the new logo "Innovation for all," Nissan will be unveiling three new models: the Nissan Ellure concept, which adds a new dimension to traditional sedan design, the Murano CrossCabriolet, and the new Quest. The new Quest and Murano CrossCabriolet are set to go on sale in early 2011.

The Nissan Ellure is a four-door sedan, which according to Nissan, was "designed to bring a higher level of progressive and distinctive expression to the segment."

TheMurano CrossCabriolet is aimed at people who want to feel the wind in their hair and still drive an SUV. It will be the first all-wheel drive crossover convertible and will feature a soft top and two doors. Nissan states that the topless Murano will have room for four adults while still providing appropriate storage space for your luggage, shopping bags, or golf clubs.

Press release after the jump.

In 2008, there was a little concept by the name of the Saab 9-4X BioPower that was introduced at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Two years later, Saab has finished polishing off the production version and will be revealing the second all-new model to be launched under the Spyker ownership at the Los Angeles Motor Show in mid-November.

The 9-4X will be built on an all new platform called the Theta Premium that mixes components from GM’s Theta and Epsilon 2 platforms. It will find itself with its own exterior and interior stylings, but will have a dashboard design that will be similar to the new 9-5. The 9-4X will be offered with a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine as the sole engine, but Saab is working on a diesel option for the future. The concept was powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter BioPower turbo engine that delivered 300 HP and strong torque of 295 lb.-ft. With this engine, Saab wanted to demonstrate its commitment to “rightsizing” – achieving sufficient levels of performance with a smaller, more efficient engine.

Sales in the USA will begin in late 2011.

TheM35 Hybrid is not the only hybrid model Infiniti will offer to its customers. Automotive News reports that three months before unveiling its first hybrid vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show , Infiniti is already contemplating other models that could use the hybrid powertrain.

This hybrid powertrain is actually the first system made by Nissan themselves. Before anything can be said, there are hybrid Altimas in the States, but those powertrains are created by Toyota. Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti promises that this new hybrid system will deliver "V-6 power at four-cylinder fuel economy levels" and Larry Dominque, Nissan North America’s vice president of product planning, claims that the new hybrid system was designed to fit all of Infiniti’s rear-wheel-drive models.

The M35 Hybrid is powered by a gas/electric power train system that combines a naturally aspirated 3.5 Liter V6 and an efficient electric motor. The electric motor acts as both a propulsion unit, boosting the V6 with a “power assist” mode when the pedal is pushed to the metal and also as a generator to power the vehicle’s accessories and improve the engine’s efficiency. It should be arriving in showrooms in the second quarter of 2011.

At first we thought it was a massive joke because we sure laughed like it was one, but apparently Nissan was serious. The company has already shown it has massive cojones with the crazy styling of the Juke, but this new Murano convertible is one level up.

We expect to see the Murano convertible at theLos Angeles Auto Show , sporting a soft top and two doors. We had originally thought that a four-door might be hard to pull off, so a two-door configuration makes sense. This leaves us to think that the production model will look a little like a Japanese PT Cruiser convertible , which isn’t a good look for anything. Hopefully Nissan’s design team can think of something to make this thing a bit more stylish.

The workers over at Nissan are smart people and they understand the unusual aspect of this new car. "It’s not going to be a volume car," said Brian Carolin, Nissan North America Inc.’s senior vice president for sales and marketing to Automotive News. "But there’s a degree of bravery for us to bring out a car like that right now. It will surprise a lot of people."

The normal Murano is a strong seller, with 34,141 examples sold through July.

So it looks like the Saab 9-4X Crossover – yep, that very same vehicle that we’ve been waiting a long time for – is finally ready to for its time in the spotlight. And, according to event organizers of the 2010 LA Auto Show, that time will take place later this year at their event.

If you’re having a little difficulty placing where you last saw this vehicle, it was actually a little over two years ago at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show where it was presented in a slightly different tag as the 9-4X BioPower Concept .

At that time, Saab was still owned by General Motors and the concept that was shown in 2008 carried the same powertrain with that of the Cadillac SRX . Now that Saab is under the Spyker brand, there’s no telling what kind of powertrain will be available for the production version of the 9-4X Crossover. The good news is that we won’t have to wait past the LA Auto Show to get the scoop on Saab’s new crossover.

If you thought the now dearly departed Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible was bad, wait till you see this. Many thought it to be just a hoax, but apparently Nissan is bringing a Murano two-door convertible to the Los Angeles Auto Show. That’s right, the crossover SUV is getting its roof chopped off.

Inside Line is reporting that the Murano Convertible will go on sale in the spring of 2011, just in time for warm weather and top down driving in your new convertible crossover.

Nissan is having a weird month. They hit it big with the Juke and now they are trying everything in the book of oddness. Vitamin C air vents, sofas for seats, , and now this, a Murano convertible aimed at people who want to feel the wind in their hair and still drive an SUV. This is a major risk and we aren’t too sure it’s going to work for them. Give them credit for thinking outside of the box though.
