Only a few hours ago we told you about the Japanese premium automaker’s plans to release a razor sharp Special Edition Subaru WRX STI complete with a host of suspension parts from the track tuned Spec C model. Well now the all wheel drive automaker is telling us that they are also bringing a more luxurious Limited Edition of the slightly less powerful WRX to the L.A. Auto Show.

Subaru Impreza WRX Limited Edition

Although it’s not an STI with its more mundane 265 HP 2.5 Liter turbocharged flat four, however with its symmetrical all wheel drive system and refined interior this is much like the leather wrapped Limited model that Subaru sold back in 2007. Based on the 2010 Impreza WRX, the Limited Edition adds a leather interior, moonroof and SIRIUS Satellite Radio over the already well equipped WRX Premium. Wow, it looks like Subaru is finally giving their customers what they want, if scandinavian flicks and embarrassing cars more than three times as expensive at the track then you can have your all out Special Edition STI and if you just want to have a smile on your face every time you get out of your Impreza and also relax in leather, then this Limited Edition WRX is for you.

Updated 02/08/10: Subaru announced prices for the Impreza WRX Limited Edition: the 4-door WRX Limited will be priced at $28,495 while the 5-door model will be priced at $28,995.

For the past twelve years, the Boxster has been playing the chase-the-911 with its styling. Now the 2009 refreshed Boxster gets more of its own look, sorta. Instead of taking its styling cues from the 911, it looks a little more like the ultra-fast Carrera GT .

The new Boxster features a newly designed front and rear ends. The new halogen headlights with their integrated direction indicators are reminiscent of the lights on the Carrera GT, the new LED rear lights tapering out to the outside and integrated elegantly in the modified rear end of the car.

Under the hood, Porsche placed a 2.9-liter engine that delivers 255 bhp (an increase of 10 hp). The S version gets a 3.4-liter power unit that delivers 310 hp (up 15hp). Mated to a the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the new Boxter makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 5.9 seconds. Equipped with the PDK double-clutch gearbox, the sprint will be made 0.1 seconds faster.

As it turns out the increase in power will not mean worse fuel economy. The Boxster equipped with PDK averages 26.3 mpg, and 25.5 mpg for the Boxster S. That’s about a 4 mpg improvement from the Tiptronic automatic transmission cars.

The blue oval has revamped their pony car lineup for 2011 Mustang and the big news is what is going on under the hood. Not only does the new car get a slight bump in output, but the 21st century pony car does it in a more efficient manner. The new Mustang will be powered by an all new, high performance, aluminum Duratec V6 complete with modern technologies like DOHC and Ti-VCT that delivers over 300 HP as well as benefiting from a new performance package.

Ford Mustang V6

The all new aluminum 3.7 Liter six cylinder engine puts out a total of 305 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque combined with a fuel efficient six speed automatic transmission, the 2011 V6 powered Mustang will have an estimated fuel economy of 30 MPG, and even better is that shifting yourself will only cost you 1 more MPG.

Ford’s new performance package sends the V6’s output through a shorter geared 3:31 rear axle as well as suspension and braking components based on the units from the V8 powered Mustang GT model. However making the base Mustang handle as well as possible, the boys from Dearborn have added a set of 19 inch wheels wrapped with sticky Pirelli performance tires and a Sport mode setting aimed at performance driving enthusiasts from the electronic stability control system when the 2011 Mustang goes on sale late next summer starting at $20,114 for a base model V6 powered pony car.

Unveiled back in 2009 with an even sharper Z shape, Nissan is already making minor improvements to the second year 370Z. Upgrading items like the Navigation Package contents, heated mirrors and in cabin micro filter to improve air quality as well as one new tantalizing color, Black Cherry, all starting at just $29,990.

Nissan 370Z Coupe

Compared to the old Z33 350Z’s four trim lineup (regular, Enthusiast, Touring and Grand Touring), the current generation Z34 will only be sold in base and Touring trims. Allowing owners a bit more creature comfort, the Japanese automaker will then allow new car buyers two option packages, Sport and Navigation. Powered by a VQ37VHR 3.7 Liter V6 with VVEL rated at 332 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed automatic with auto blipping Downshift Rev Matching and Adaptive Shift Contro. The combination is good for an estimated 18 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.

Nissan 370Z Coupe

The exterior design revisions include sharpened boomerang HID light clusters as well as a revised front end and wider arches. Meanwhile the interior benefits from a few new upgraded materials while maintaining the classic trio of gauges on the dash. It would appear that Nissan only improved upon what we thought was pretty perfect.

If you made a poll on what concept car that was revealed in 2009 would stick to the minds of pistonheads all over the world, one that would sit on top of the list is BMW ’s revolutionary Vision EfficientDynamics concept.

Ever since it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, the Vision EfficientDynamics has been the talk of the automotive world, and rightfully so. We’ve gone over all the specifications, photos and videos of the car and it seems like all of it still isn’t enough to satiate our appetites for this concept car.

So before the year ends, we have a new video of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics courtesy from the folks over at Edmunds Car Pool. This video was taken during the recently-concluded LA Auto Show where it takes us on an up-close tour of the car while it was prominently displayed during the event.

Enjoy.

Although he didn’t expand on the subject, Chevrolet’s former Vice President Brent Dewar showed audiences this slide as part of the electrically propelled Volt ’s unveiling at the L.A. Auto Show last week. General Motors has touched on the topic of producing user friendly applications for both the Blackberry and iPhone for their new battery operated production car by the time it arrives in showrooms across the country, but they still aren’t saying exactly what the program will do. Our best guess is that the smartphone applications will be based around recharging the Volt’ s batteries, we have heard that Chevy’s BEV will come from the factory with features like programable recharging. A penny pinching move that allows owners to wit until rates go down after midnight to start charging their Volt.

What could the Chevy Volt do with a smartphone app?

So what could GM do with the world’s greatest key fob? Using a smartphone with an LCD screen as opposed to a palm full of plastic that is limited to only a few fixed buttons will allow the software engineers to go as far as their imaginations can take them. If you thought that the new Prius ’s remote activated ventilation system was cool, the Volt app should put the tiny gas sipping Toyota to shame. Although it probably won’t let you operate the car like James Bond drove the BMW 750 in Tomorrow Never Dies it will most certainly bring a bit of fun to owning a Volt. The ball is in your court GM.
