Lotus Evora is now enjoying the success Lotus->ke49 was hopping for, so the company is looking for solutions to improve its sales. The latest solution found was the addition of a new "Sports Racer" package that was inspired by the Evora GTC that enjoyed a huge success in the MSA British Endurance Championship.

The model is further improving the mid-engined 3.5 liter V6 sports car and will be offered in both naturally-aspirated or supercharged versions. According to the official announcement the new Evora Sports Racer delivers "phenomenal performance, exclusive style, incredible excitement and genuine affordability." The model will be offered with an exclusive exterior color scheme and comes comes fully loaded with all the technologies currently offered by Lotus.

On the British market the new Evora->ke3240 Sports Racer is priced at £57,900 - round $94,300 at the current exchange rates for the naturally aspired version and at £65,900 - $107,300 - for the supercharged one.

Exterior and interior

Customers will have the possibility to order the new Evora Sports Racer in four exterior colors: Aspen White, Carbon Grey, Nightfall Blue and Ardent Red. These four colors will be combined with gloss black contrasting accents on the roof, front splitter, rear diffuser and side sills. Black is also being used for the rear badging, door mirror pods and forged wheels. For the wheels Lotus is offering a choice of either red or black brake calipers.

This very cool exterior paint scheme is being continued on the interior. In here the new Sports Racer package adds black leather "Premium Sports" seats trimmed with red contrast piping and stitching. As an option customers can also ask for a Venom Red leather "Premium Sports" seats with black contrast piping and stitching. Other updates includes Slate Grey SuedeTexTM dash, doors and center console with red contrasting stitching. All models will be offered with gunmetal dashboard panels.

The new Evora Sports Racer can be ordered in both naturally-aspired and supercharged versions. In naturally-aspired version the 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine delivers a total of 276 HP, while in supercharged version it goes up to 345 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm.

Prices

On the British market the new Evora Sports Racer is priced at £57,900 - round $94,300 at the current exchange rates for the naturally aspired version and at £65,900 - $107,300 - for the supercharged one. This represents a cost benefits of £6,450 ($10,500) and £7,150 ($11,650) respectively.

Competition

With the new Sports Racer package the new Evora gets even closer to its biggest competitor: the Porsche 911 Carrera->ke282. The German sports car is powered by a 3.4-liter flat-6 engine that pumps out 350 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 287 pound-feet of torque.

However, despite all its updates, the new Evora Sports Racer can't become as impressive as the Audi TT-RS->ke3038 is. It is powered by a 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder engine that pumps out 360 ponies at 5,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet of torque.
