2014 Lotus Elite

Lotus ’ plan of reinventing its brand after years of mediocrity is looking less and less like wishful thinking after the company officially released initial details of their future hybrid supercar, the 2014 Elite.

It’s been widely known that the British sports car maker is aggressively pushing to remake their entire portfolio to cater to a more upper echelon consumer base and if everything goes according to plan, the 2014 Elite should be the first of many aggressively designed sports cars the company is looking to introduce to the market.

Word has it that the Elite will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces around 500-plus horsepower with a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds and a top speed of just under 200 mph at 196 mph. If these numbers are anywhere close to what the production version of the Elite will be capable of, then you can expect the supercar, with the aggressive backing of the company, to be a player in a market long dominated by the likes of Aston Martin , Audi and Porsche . Even the car’s expected price tag - £115,000 – is right up there with the Porsches of the world.

As for the new – and aggressive – design of the car, the man behind it, designer Donato Coco, left no stones unturned in giving the Elite a more aggressive approach by adding some depth to the car’s front fascia. As somebody who noted the two-dimensional looks of prior Lotus vehicles, Coco’s design of the Elite is about as good as it can get for a brand looking to be edgier and more upscale that what its previous reputation suggests.

Ten days ahead of the official unveil at the Paris Motor Show the sun starts to rise for the dawn of Lotus’ new era - the Elite will redefine “modern classic”.

So here it is, the Lotus Elite, the first taste of what’s to come from Lotus in the future. Look up elegant in the dictionary and you’ll find variations on the following 1. dignified grace in appearance, movement, or behaviour, 2. superb taste in design, style and 3. something elegant; the ultimate refinement.

The ground-breaking new Elite is exactly that. It’s compact yet chic body is elegance incarnate. It’s not only exquisitely elegant, in keeping with Lotus’ core values, it’s a car of substance incorporating some of the very latest technological innovations Lotus has to offer. The slick retractable hard top version and the optional use of hybrid technology with KERS are typical examples of Lotus tailoring technology to deliver perfect performance.

Set for release in spring 2014, this is an innovative, exciting GT that will set a new benchmark in design, performance and emissions. And it’s not all about sleek lines and stunning bodywork with this particular 2+2, what hides beneath this shark like exterior perfectly does the aesthetics justice. A front-mid positioned 5.0l V8 engine delivering up to 620 PS meaning drivers can expect to go from 0-100 km/h in approximately 3.5 to 3.7 seconds.


Unique indeed! but sorry to say that I’m not really impressed with this Elite but surely it can caught lots of attention and it will stand out among the rest.

This kind of car is really an eye catcher. To be honest, I barely see platform design like on Elite. I love also the metallic paint that they use.

The platform of their project eagle and this elite is I think almost the same, especially with the front and the wheels but still it is quite impressive for me.

I really love the elegance of this car and every detailing is perfect! However, I would like to see them used a more modern technology like v10 or v12.

I wonder why does the Lotus haven’t make an elegant interior for the Evora. Elite look so stunning on its detailing and its really far from a Honda Civic. BTW, its speed performance is great as well. I wonder on what will be the performance of this car when modified.

Wow! Just like the 2015 model this car definitely has an amazing design, and performance is absolutely great! For sure the competition in the market would be so tough. 

talking about the hard top convertible, I rather choose coupe over this one. I have drove this car and I would confess that when the roof top is up, its kind of springy but when its down its kind of controlled.

It is a very attractive concept, just still not getting use to this is a Lotus yet. However it is exciting to see the company can finally starches it wings.

I think it may be right in saying that the Elite could take the beauty award away from Aston Martin. But i am going off of the green Concept pictured on some other sites. it looks like pure Automotive ecstasy in BR Green with yellow calipers.

I wonder if Lotus will be using this car as a technological and engineering showcase-let’s not forget that a good chunk of Lotus’ (as a name) business is engineering work.

3600lbs is less than most fixed-roof coupes with any amount of luxury amenities, like G37, A5, and CTS, let alone hard-top convertibles with all of those machine parts.

but dont give it to those lazy americans ! ok, maybe, but only with gasoline and automatic. no diesel and manual for them !

I’m surprised to see Lotus make something like this. At 3600lbs, and with that kind of power output, it is basically a "green" version of a Dodge Viper. I thought they were more interested in making light, high revving machines.

4 seats and its fast! Cheap price compared to others. But in 2014 we’ll find out.

Finally a Lotus that looks as well as it performs (well assuming it continues to perform as good as current rides)
