  Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

Just the other day, we caught the 2015 Cayenne having a Marilynn Monroe moment, as a gust of wind blew the cover off of its front end. That was the first really good look that we got at the front end of the Cayenne , but now we get a nice sneak peek at the Turbo model’s front end, as our spy shooters caught it out and about.

With the exception of the whistle from the engine, the only other ways to tell this is a Turbo model and not the standard Cayenne are the rims, the extensions on the bumpers and the fog lights up front.

just like the standard Cayenne that we caught recently, the Turbo model’s front end is in full view, but the back end still has its lights hidden by covers. These covers, which are the shape of the taillights on the current Cayenne, hide slimmer taillights that are similar to those we’ve seen on the Macan , Panamera and 911 .

Under its hood, we expect the Cayenne Turbo to feature the same 520 horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 as the Panamera Turbo.

The wintery winds of change are blowing the covers off the newly restyled 2015 Porsche Cayenne as our spy photographers captured this unmasked example of Porsche’s latest redesign. From the looks of things, the changes are minor with the majority of updates relegated to the front turn signals, fog lights, and center grille.

For starters, the center grille is more rectangular than last year’s gaping mouth, and the side air inlets decrease in size to match the grille. The turn signals within those air inlets have been pushed upward into the bodywork, removing their free-floating appearance from 2013. The cruise control radar is also repositioned to the grille’s center, down from the 12 o’clock position in last year’s grille. Perched just above the radar looks to be a front view camera. The fog lights now stick out further with less bodywork around them.

Interestingly, the headlights almost look like stickers off a NASCAR Sprint Cup car. Perhaps the HIDs weren’t ready for real-world testing yet. Speaking of lights, turn signal repeaters now reside on the side mirrors, doubling the ones on the front fender. Besides the reshaped mirror, the side profile of the SUV — the doors and rear quarter panels — appears unchanged. Though not in these photos, we expect the taillights to get a similar 3D-like appearance resembling the Macan .

At this point, not much is know about potential powertrains for the 2015 Cayenne. Rumors swirl about Porsche offering a plug-in hybrid version, but nothing solid has been nailed down. Expect the diesel and gas variants to return with some possible tweaks to increase fuel efficiency and power outputs.

Jaguar XE

Well what do we have here? Just a few days after Jaguar officially announced its upcoming 3 Series competitor, the Jaguar XE, we have photos of its blasting around in the snow. With an aluminum-intensive construction, we expect the XE to be very quick and agile.

There are very few confirmed details, but we do know that the car will debut as a sedan with a wagon version coming later. There are also rumors of coupe and convertible versions in the works. If Jaguar hopes to truly compete with BMW , Audi and Mercedes , it makes sense it would expand the XE’s body styles.

Engine choices will start with four-cylinder mills, but it should expand to include high-performance models later. The supercharged V-6 from the F-Type is a likely choice for a performance model that will have about 380 horsepower. That is not quite enough power to really compete with the M3 or C63 AMG , so it’s not a stretch to imagine Jaguar would try to stuff its 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood as well.

Styling is also a bit of a mystery, but considering Ian Callum’s past, we expect the XE to be the prettiest car in the segment. Don’t worry about the odd hunchback shape in these photos, its a disguise. If you look carefully at the head-on shot, you can see a small shelf on the roof. This would be where the huge rear buttress pieces are mounted to the car. This is used to hide the true shape of the rear end. Expect a low, swooping rear window that is closer to the larger XF’s design.

The teaser that Land Rover showed at the Geneva Motor Show was billed as "a sign of things to come" for the new Discovery . And while no announcements have been made on what kind of look the new Discovery will sport, this new batch of spy shots of the Baby Discovery could be what all that teasing was alluding to.

The recent demise of the Freelander name opened the door for the Discovery to have a more prominent role in the Land Rover lineup, and it appears that these new spy photos indicate what could be that long-rumored Baby Discovery, albeit one that’s sportier-looking than those Baby Discovery spy shots we showed back in January.

Before we jump to any conclusions, it’s important to note that the heavy camo makes it rather difficult to make out some elements of the SUV. But there is some noticeable styling, particularly the massive air intakes on the front, the Evoque-like headlights and that massive front grille, which could also point to a more performance-oriented version of the Baby Discovery that carries the R-S badge.

Something tells us there’s still more than what meets the eye with this Baby Discovery, and judging by how much Land Rover is slow-playing this, it wouldn’t shock us to see more spy photos of this vehicle ahead of its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show later this year.

Update 3/12/2014 @ 5:25 p.m.: Our spy photographer just informed us that this may also be a mule for the upcoming Jaguar SUV . According to his source, the license plate matched up to a Jaguar plate, but he could not officially confirm it.

Bentley Flying Spur V8

Bentley has always ranked among the upper echelon of luxury automakers with cars the epitomize wealth, success, and even perhaps over indulgence in excess. The same still holds true today, though Bentley may be looking into expanding its customer base with its latest introduction of the 2015 Flying Spur fitted with a V-8 where the massive W-12 normally lives and a rumored baby Bentley.

The V-8 Flying Spur is practically unchanged from its W-12 big brother , save for a handful of cosmetic bits that differentiates the two. Both versions will be on sale together, but prices for the V-8 will likely be considerably less. Why then is Bentley Bentley offering a less exclusive Flying Spur and pandering to a lesser wealthy crowd? Two reasons stick out: making the CAFÉ cut with improved fuel economy and attracting new customers. Granted, the V-8 Flying Spur will be no bargain at roughly $180 - $195,000, but the $20,000 savings over the W-12 does open up the Flying Spur to a few more folks. But will this be good for Bentley’s prestigious image?

Add to that the news that Bentley may be looking at releasing a £100,000 ($166,320) smaller car, and things are starting to get a little odd. Enthusiasts lost their minds when Porsche started releasing other models that fit different niches, though they still remained exclusive on the upper end. Never — save for the Boxster and Cayman — did Porsche cheapen its image, but this baby Bentley is a clear attempt to lower the price of admission to the Bentley brand to attract top-level Mercedes and BMW buyers.

Sure, driving a new S-Class is great, but driving a Bentley is a whole new ballgame that few ever experience.

2014 Geneva Motor Show Preview

This year’s Geneva Motor Show sure provided a lot of new metal to be covered with automakers from around the world choosing to debut their latest vehicles on the world’s stage. The level of excitement about the show had been building for quite some time and to be honest, many of the vehicles were rather polarizing.

Even designs that were generally liked garnered a few nay-sayers regarding their lack of originality, while other designs only attracted drool and positive feedback. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in this article, the TopSpeed editorial staff cover their top five best cars of the show along with the bottom five bombs.

Infiniti’s new Q60 Convertible is set to receive a special one-off design that pays homage to the great Bobby Unser. That’s the news coming out of the Nissan sub-brand when it announced the arrival of the special edition Q60 Convertible at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance .

This is the fourth consecutive year that Infiniti has had a presence at the gathering and this time, the company is making its attendance a memorable one. Dressed in the same livery as the car Unser drove to win the 1968 Indy 500, the one-off Q60 Convertible looks deliriously stunning dressed in that red, yellow, black and white special wrap that honors the Rislone livery found on Unser’s Offenhauser-powered Eagle race car .

Oh, and don’t forget the huge No.3 decals on the hood and the doors of the Q60 Convertible, which serves as another hat tip to the legendary race car driver.

Not much else is known about the one-off Q60 Convertible Bobby Unser Edition other than Infiniti’s plan to showcase the model at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance this weekend at the Infiniti Pavilion Display where it will sit next to the same car where it draws inspiration from: Bobby Unser’s 1968 Indy 500-winning Eagle race car.

Bentley Falcon

After getting so much flak when the first design of its SUV came out, who knew that Bentley would eventually have more than 2,000 pre-orders for the vehicle.

But somehow, probably through sheer will and determination, interest in the soon-to-arrive Falcon SUV has picked up significantly as we head toward its launch at the start of 2016. This development should be music to the ears of Bentley execs who had to deal with the backlash the EXP 9 F Concept received when it first came out in 2012.

The negative publicity forced Bentley to quickly return to the drawing board to come up with a new design, or at least something that didn’t remind people of a design that the folks at Lego could’ve built.

With a new exterior and interior look that, according to Autocar, is more "Bentley-like," the Volkswagen Group board is hoping that this new design is going to catch on well with the public that the EXP 9 F just couldn’t do.

Interest appears to be strong with so many pre-orders of the Falcon, and if those numbers hold true, it could aid significantly in the company’s target of selling 15,000 units per year by 2018. It’s still has a ways to go, seeing as 2013 sales amounted to "just" 10,120 units, so you can imagine how much is riding on the Falcon SUV being a sales hit.

Maserati Alfieri

Anybody who got hyped for the Maserati Alfieri Concept — the car we named the sexiest at Geneva during out first-ever podcast — at Geneva this week has more reason to be excited now, as the sports car could hit production sooner than later. Although it seemed more like a formality than anything else, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne’s comments to Reuters pretty much cemented what everyone who salivated over the Alfieri Concept has been hoping to hear. In the event that Maserati green lights production of the Alfieri, as we expect it to do, Marchionne already has a production timeline in mind.

"The platforms and motors are there," Marchionne said. "Technically, production could start in 24-28 months."

That’s two years from now, giving a lot of us enough time to fill up those piggy banks in anticipation for that time. But for those who can’t wait the two years, Maserati has an alternative and equally attractive model with a shorter timeline: the Levante SUV.

According to Marchionne, production of the Levante is set to commence next year at the company’s Mirafiori plant in northern Italy, meaning that it’s likely that the Levante will arrive in dealerships sooner than the production version of the Alfieri Concept.

It does stand to reason that Maserati’s aggressive lineup expansion is more than just lip service. The company is shoving all its chips on the table and for all of us, that’s a beautiful thing.

Mercedes is rolling out an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission slotted for fitment within the brand’s sedans and wagons, starting with the E 350 BlueTEC . Mercedes says the transmission will not only help conserve fuel, but will decrease in-car NVH levels and reduce exterior noise pollution, while providing smoother shifts at faster intervals than the outgoing seven-speed 7G-TRONIC transmission it replaces.

While its just now becoming available in the E 350 BlueTEC, the 9G-TRONIC will become common across the Mercedes lineup. Expect to see the unit find a home within the S-Class next, followed by C-Class , and possibly the CLA-Class . Engineers designed the transmission to be compatible with rear- and all-wheel-drive application, and even mild and full-hybrid systems. Basically, the 9G-TRONIC will be Mercedes’ bread-n-butter ‘box.

To meet the wide range of demands, engineers built the transmission to shift quickly and smoothly without any overly-perceivable shift points in its normal mode and sharp, direct shifts when placed in manual — and even more so in S mode. The gearbox is also able to shift over multiple gears for fast acceleration and deceleration. For example, the 9G-TRONIC can shift from 9th gear to 5th gear if the driver floors the accelerator. Conversely, the transmission can seamlessly shift from 3rd gear to 9th gear after a hard acceleration run up an interstate on-ramp.

What this means for performance, both on the track and in between gas stations, is simple: more gears equals lower revs when cruising and therefore increased fuel efficiency while faster shifts mean quicker overall performance numbers.
