luxury cars

Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

It’s easy to see why brands like Rolls-Royce have a deep interest in the Middle Eastern market. It’s one of the biggest sales markets for the company and as a sign of its commitment to building an even bigger presence in the market, the British company is preparing to launch its new 1,001 Nights Collection.

In case the name escapes you, the 1,001 Nights Collection is exclusive to the Middle East, further casting little doubt just how match Rolls wants to be loved in that region.

In this video, Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke division is giving everyone a peek at the exclusive collection, which we will see manifest themselves in the Rolls-Royce Ghost in the future. Incidentally, Rolls-Royce already unveiled the Ghost One Thousand and One Nights Edition late last year.

But it’s only now that we’re seeing just how intricate and meticulous the level of detailing was in putting together what could very well be one of the most exclusive Rolls-Royce models we’ve seen in a while. From the unique motifs to the veneer and wood inlays with arabesque symbols, the Rolls-Royce 1,001 Nights collection is going to be all sorts of exclusive for arguably one of the most exclusive-starved markets in the world.

At this point, we don’t expect anything less from the region and the brand that wants a bigger piece of that said region.

Jaguar XJ

In November of last year, our spy photographers managed to catch the revised Jaguar XJ prototype testing in the wild. Now, the car was caught testing again, but this time out in the cold.

As you can see, the prototype is camouflaged only on the front and rear, meaning that these are the areas that will receive the updates. We expect to see new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and taillights, and likely a new grille. Jaguar will also offer an updated interior, some new technology and some new exterior colors.

There are no details on the engine lineup just yet, but we expect to see the same engines found in the current model. We do expect to see improvements in the output and fuel economy of the entire lineup.

We expect the revised Jaguar XJ to be revealed by the end of 2014.

With due respect to some of the best interior tuners in the industry, Russia’s TopCar can make its own claim as one of the best.

It’s got a long history, not to mention an inventory, of some pretty impressive programs and while it may be cause for it sit on its laurels, TopCar isn’t doing any of that. Instead, it built another version of its universally lauded Stingray GTR program for the Porsche Panamera .

We’ve seen this before, only this time, TopCar is taking the interior treatment to a whole new level with a new dress-up for the cabin. Brace yourselves, this is one for the record books.

Traditional two-color treatments are normal for this kind of business. But a combination of purple leather and gold inserts? That’s definitely a new one, and something TopCar worked effortlessly into the cabin of the Panamera .

The purple theme of the interior is actually made from genuine crocodile leather with matching diamond stitching. That’s the kind of leather you don’t want to stand away from. And the purple is really subtle, not some eggplant-looking eyesore that will drive rats away. Very classy and very elegant, kind of like what you’d expect royalty would wear.

And here’s the coup de grâce: those gold inserts on the pedals, cup holder, gear lever area, and door handles provide a nice clash to the subtlety of the purple leather. The luster is pretty sweet to look at, and might we add, fun to be around with when driving this Stingray GTR Panamera.

Speaking of which, the sports sedan also received a new body kit as part of TopCar’s renowned program, including new bumpers, a redesigned hood, updated wings and doors, and a new set of lightweight forged ADV.1 Wheels.

All that, and we still can’t get our eyes off of that interior.

Audi A7

After about four years of production, the Audi A7 is about to receive its first revision. This news is no surprise, considering that in the past few months Aud has revised nearly its entire lineup. Our spy photographers manged to spy the new A7 out doing some test runs in the cold of Sweden.

As you can see in these spy shots this A7 prototype wears lots of camouflage, but we basically know what to expect from Audi. We expect to see the same treatment that we saw applied to the recently launched A8 , including the new Matrix LED headlights, a modified front and rear bumper, and new graphics on the LED taillights.

Under the hood, the A7 will get more powerful and efficient engines combined with new assistance systems that will make the revised A7 even more attractive.

Expect to see the revised Audi A7 revealed by the end of the year, with sales to begin right in time for the 2015 model year.

Hyundai Genesis

The new-generation Hyundai Genesis was unveiled earlier this month at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, and it came with a few surprises, including an updated look, a new platform and the availability of an advanced HTRAC AWD system. What’s strange is that this new system will only be offered with the 3.8-liter V-6 version, not in the more powerful V-8 version.

At a first glance, this may seem like a strange move, but in a recent interview with Autoguide, Hyundai ’s spokesman Miles Johnson revealed that this move was made because Hyundai is considering a performance-focused Genesis that will feature the Tau 5.0-liter V-8 and the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. This performance model is still being discussed and is not yet given the green light, but if it gets the "go," it should arrive a few months after the base version.

Hyundai’s spokesman did not reveal if this new model will be offered with more power than the standard V-8, but he did confirm there will be improvements to the chassis and lateral grip.

A while back it was rumored that Land Rover’s lineup wilould undergo some some important changes, as 16 new models divided into three different categories — luxury (Range Rover ), leisure (Discovery/Freelander ) and utility (Defender ) — would make their way into dealers. One of these new models will be a replacement for the existing Land Rover Freelander , which is nicknamed the "baby Discovery."

Rumors suggest that the new model will most likely drop the "Freelander" name and will take some design cues from the current Evoque to help improve sales and give the SUV a modern look.

The new baby Discovery — internally known as the L550 — will be based on a modified Evoque platform; it will be larger when compared to the current Freelander; and it will be part of the future Discovery family. Judging by its placement and Land Rover’s naming system, this could carry the Discovery Sport name.

The new model is expected to be unveiled in 2016 in both five-seat and seven-seat versions.

Chris Harris started the year with a series of models specially developed to deliver great fuel economy. This time around, Harris got behind the wheel of the 2014 BMW 535d .

We’re not very sure what happened and why Harris went from extreme drifting to these obedient reviews, but it looks like someone paid him to treat this car as nicely as he possibly could. Then again, when you’re whipping around a diesel-powered BMW 5 Series , there’s not too much desire to really hammer on it. Rather, this is an elegant and class car that tuned more for mpg than drifting.

Under the hood of the BMW 535d is a 3.0-liter, straight-six diesel engine that delivers a total of 255 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and a stump-ripping 413 pound-feet from 1,500 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is complete in just 5.8 seconds and top speed is limited to 130 mph.

Since its official launch, the Audi Q5 has had its fair share of success, and for some very good reasons: it’s about $10k cheaper than its bigger brother — the Q7 — it’s compact size make it perfect for today’s crowded cities, and, as any other Audi model it looks great and delivers lots of luxury feature.

This successful recipe also makes the Q5 a hit among tuners and design firms. Kahn Design, for example, has developed quite an impressive amount of kits for it, and just like with every other one, this latest kit focuses on updating the look of the SUV.

For this, Kahn started by painting the car in a very cool brilliant black and installed a new aerodynamic kit complements its sleek lines. The kit includes a new front bumper, front and rear wheel arches, rear hatch blend, stainless-steel door-sill plates, and a new rear diffuser. The designer also installed a new quad exhaust system in stainless steel.
