Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

There’s a reason why Rolls-Royce is rolling out all these special edition models in China . The market is fast becoming the largest one for luxury automakers and what better way to stake a significant chunk of it than to entice customers with vehicles no other country in the world will carry.

Sounds like a smart plan, right?

Rolls-Royce seems to think so, and that’s why its been busy the past couple of months launching special-edition Ghost models , including its latest creation, the Ghost Cantor Glory Edition.

Recently introduced at Auto Guangzhou, the Ghost Cantor Glory Edition pays homage to Guangzhou with a number of design elements attributed to the south Chinese city, including drawing inspiration from the iconic Canton Tower, while also adding touches of Guangzhou, no more distinct than the addition of the city’s Five Rams emblem in the coachline, veneer panels, headrests and dashboard.

A two-tone color scheme also points to the uniqueness of the Ghost Cantor Glory Edition with RR opting to use a Madeira Red for a glorious regal history and Cassiopeia Silver or Carrera White for the bright and modern present. The contrasting colors offer a touch of balance between the colors of the night sky with the metallic body of the aforementioned Canton Tower.

The finer details, including customer options to give this special-edition ride more distinct styling, can be accomplished through its Bespoke Atelier program, which is coming to China for the first time, and offering a range of customization options for all those deep-pocketed Chinese buyers.

When Gemballa unveiled the GTP 700 tuning kit for the Porsche Panamera we didn’t payed much attention to it, as we saw it as just another kit for the luxury German sedan . After all, other than the 700 horsepower on tap, the kit did offer much else.

Well, it looks like Gemballa decided to prove us wrong in thinking this was "just another kit, as the new GTP 700 just became the fastest sedan in the world to weight over two metric tonnes (4,400 pounds).

After making its world debut at the 2013 Essen Motor Show , the new GTP700 was taken to the Nardo high-speed track for a test drive. Gemballa said that the record was an accident, because the car was not prepared in advanced for this achievement. It was just a customer-ready GTP 700, equipped with 22-inch wheels and checking in at 2,045 kg (4.508 pounds) — 2,225 kg (4,905 pounds) with the driver and the fuel included.

With this "equipment," the Panamera GTP 700 hit a top speed of 338.8 km/h (210.5 mph). Additionally. the GTP 700 can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, from 0 to 124 mph in 9.6 seconds and from 0 to 186 mph in 26.5 seconds.

After a pretty cool tuning kit prepared for the BMW M5 , Vorsteiner turned its attention to another German luxury car, this time a Mercedes CLS63 AMG . As with pretty much all the other kits prepared by the tuner, the only updates offered for the CLS are limited to the exterior look.

To be completely honest with you, the CLS 63 AMG really doesn’t need any updates, as it comes fully loaded from the factory, including a 5.5-liter, V-8 engine that delivers a total of 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. With the optional AMG Performance Pack, the power jumps to 550 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

The updates that Vorsteiner made to the exterior are limited to just three elements that give the CLS63 AMG a sportier look and to further improve the aerodynamic features of the four-door coupe .

To be perfectly honest with you, the 2014 Bentley Flying Spur and the 2014 Rolls-Royce Ghost are not necessarily our favorite cars. We’re more interested in nimble sports car, as opposed to massive luxury cars that go fast in a straight line. But if we had to choose between one to have handed to us, we would definitely opt for the Bentley limousine, just because it looks a bit sportier that the Rolls .

This is just our opinions, and we’re sire that plenty of you would take the Ghost. Let’s have a look to see that the folks at Motor Trend think on the two models, and which one would they prefer, as they put the two models against one another in the latest episode of "Head 2 Head."

Be prepared for a slightly unconventional test, as the Motor Trend folks wanted to see if the two models could do a little painting, on top of the typical testing. Check out the video to see which model did best!

Starting 2010, Michael Schumacher is the brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz , and a development partner for Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive. This is the collective name the company has given to the networked assistance systems that relieve driver workload and improve traffic safety.

Today, Mercedes unveiled a cool video with Michael Schumacher testing the safety systems on the 2015 C-Class . While it does not show much about the car, the video confirms the model will get a variety of safety systems, including Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Pre-Safe Brake, Brake Assist Plus, Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.

Thanks to the new safety systems, the ride in the next C-Class will be more comfortable and considerably safer. All these new systems share the same sensory system that includes a new stereo camera and multi-stage radar sensors.

Of course, all these new system deliver optimal response when the car is driven to speed up to 50 - 70 km/h (30-43 mph), but the Collision Prevention Assist Plus is even active at speeds up to 200 km/h (124 mph) when it can help avoiding crashes by automatic, autonomous partial braking.

We are pretty sure that all these new systems will make the C-Class one of the safest luxury sedans on the market, so we can’t wait testing it!

We admit that a teaser photo of a wheel, albeit a pretty sick-looking one at that, isn’t much to go by. But Citroen doesn’t believe so, which is why it sounds so excited promoting the upcoming debut of the model they’ve christened the DS 5LS.

There’s not much to go by with the teaser apart from the slick alloys and the fact that Citroen has described the model as a "new premium class sedan".

So, it’s a luxury car that will likely have all the bells and whistles typically found in vehicles of its segment. We admit that the curiosity of seeing this model when it makes its debut is making us believe that the DS 5LS sedan will be one that will be talked about by a lot of people in the days leading up to the debut and even well after that.

It’s also worth pointing out that this model could be another vehicle for the Chinese market, the only place in the world where Citroen’s DS line is marketed as a stand-alone brand. Maybe there’s more to it that we still don’t know about.

The good thing is we won’t have to wait too long to find out if these fancy alloys are the highlight of the entire vehicle, or a part of something really, really awesome.

We’re hitching our wagons on the latter and crossing our fingers that we won’t be disappointed.

As you probably know, the way you present a product oftentimes leads to better sales than the quality if the product itself. So, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that Mercedes picked model Georgia May Jagger to be the face for its new Mercedes GLA crossover.

Yes, you guessed it: Georgia is the daughter of Mick Jagger — the lead vocalist and the founding member of The Rolling Stones. Georgia stars in Mercedes’ latest commercial named "Always Restless," where she appears lounging on the GLA ’s sunroof in a dark, neon-lit cityscape.

We’re not sure what’s her connection with the Panda riding in the driver’s seat, but anyway, commercials aren’t supposed to be understood every time, they just need to entertain you and make you buy the product.

Of course, we are not sure if Georgia or her stunning palm-print mini skirt will help Mercedes boost sales for the upcoming GLA, but the company will found out if it worth paying for this commercial when the GLA hits the market in the spring of 2014.

Remember when Porsche released the Cayenne ? Remember all the people in their Porsche owners club shirts sitting around and telling you about how this new SUV was a disgrace to the Porsche logo and that all the company should design and produce are 911 variants? Well, the Cayenne turned out to be a real success, so the company decided to further expand its SUV lineup with the addition of a new model placed under the Cayenne.

After being tested for a very long time, the new Macan finally made its world debut today at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Initially the model was rumored to be called "Cajun," but Porsche opted for "Macan" - a name coming from the Indonesian word for tiger. This means that the new model will be "powerful and ready to pounce at any time, yet light-footed and tenacious on off-road terrain."

On the U.S. market Porsche will only offer the Macan S and the Macan Turbo versions, with prices starting from $49,900, but Europeans will also enjoy a diesel version.

Updated 12/13/2013: Today, Porsche released a new video showing how the new Macan is developed at the company’s plant in Leipzig, Germany. You will see how the small crossover evolves from the first components to the finished product. Enjoy!

Mercedes S-Class Coupe

Its been a while since we last saw the Mercedes S-Class Coupe out for a testing session, but once the snow started falling in Europe, the company wanted to see how the car behaves in these conditions. Our spy photographers managed to shoot the next S-Class Coupe somewhere in Northern Sweden and as you can see, the prototype wears lighter camouflage than ever before.

The S-Class Coupe will be offered with a more aggressive design language than the S-Class sedan , but the engine lineup should be identical.

The coupe version will be offered with a 3.0-liter, V-6 engine in the base version and with a twin-turbocharged, 4.7-liter, V-8 powerplant in the more powerful S500 version. Mercedes is also developing an AMG version , which will be powered by a 5.5-liter, V-8 biturbo engine with an output of 577 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.

The S-Class Coupe will be unveiled next year at the Geneva Motor Show .

Mercedes unveiled a revision for the GLK at the 2012 New Your Auto Show , but it looks like some tuners though they could do a little better.

Today, Carlsson did just that with the announcement of a sleek kit for the GLK that includes upgrades for the exterior and interior, plus some engine upgrades. Unfortunately, the engine upgrades are limited to just the GLK 220 CDI.

This version receives a C-Tronic module that increases the power output of the 2.1-liter diesel engine from the stock 168 horsepower to a slightly wilder 204 ponies and the peak torque from 295 pound-feet to an impressive 368 pound-feet.

As for the GLK300 and GLK350 models, Carlsson has yet to develop a performance upgrade for them. For now, the tuner offers uprated springs and dampers that will lower the SUV ’s ride by about 1.18 inches and will significantly improve the SUV’s handling on winding roads.

On top of these performance and handling upgrades, Carlsson also offers a selection of aesthetic modifications.
