luxury cars

Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

Volvo is one of those automakers that rarely makes a splash in the auto scene. Unless it comes out with a concept - a feat in itself - it’s usually content with just sitting out of the spotlight and producing cars that are known for their fuel efficiency and safety.

That being said, we still have to give due attention to the automaker, especially when it decided to roll out a bevy of new models for nearly its entire product line.

One of these models is the new S80 , the Swedish automaker’s luxury sedan. Previous versions didn’t really inspire a whole lot of interest from the market, but that doesn’t mean that the new S80 doesn’t come with some interesting new features about it that could make it a safe choice for a luxury model.

We certainly see some merits on the new S80. Sure, there are some things we don’t like about it too, but with a brand like Volvo, the case is always the customer taking what he can get.

Updated 08/02/2013: Volvo announced today that the 2014 S80 luxury sedan starts at $39,900. Click past the jump to see all of the pricing details.

Porsche Macan

Its been more than half a year since our spy photographers caught the upcoming Porsche Macan out testing, but it looks like all Macan chasing has been worth, as today Porsche decided to take the Turbo version out for a test drive.

Also, as you can see from these spy shots, the test models have dropped the common black paint and are now painted a glossy gray, which is a clear sign that we are looking at the pre-production models — no more mules and prototypes. Porsche also removed almost all of the camouflage, leaving stickers only on the headlights and taillights.

In these spy shots you can see the standard Macan and the Turbo version. We can easily distinguish the Turbo model from the standard on, thanks to its more aggressive front end and a different exhaust system with quad tailpipes.

When it comes to the line of powerplants, rumors suggest that the base version will get a four-cylinder engine with 220 horsepower, while the Turbo version will get a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 370 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

As promised, 2014 will bring two new models to the Audi RS lineup: RS 7 and a production version of the RS Q3 Concept . The first model - the RS 7 - was unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and we saw the 2014 Q3 RS in Geneva.

The Audi A7 has a very short history in the automotive industry. Previewed by the Sportback Concept at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the production version of the A7 Sportback is already on sale, albeit not on all markets. This vehicle may be great in its own right, but of course the new RS 7 is far, far more impressive.

The new RS 7 does not only feature a much more aggressive look when compared to the standard A7, but it also delivers an extra 140 horsepower more that the S7. So, do you see why we find the standard A7 a little bit mediocre in comparison to the RS 7?

BMW is preparing to recreate its entire X family and the new-generation X5 is only part of the job. The BMW X5 was first launched in 1999, and 13 years later, it’s getting ready to enter its third generation to help keep up with the changing times. As no surprise the third generation X5 features an evolutionary design language, closely related to the model it replaces, but with some elements borrowed from the recently announced X3 and X1 models.

These updates will include a more prominent grille, an aerodynamic front bumper and optional LED adaptive headlights. The new X5 was also slightly increased in dimensions so it offers more interior room and a more accommodating boot. For the interior BMW also focused on improving the comfort level and added higher quality materials.

The new X5 will be put on sale on the U.S. market in the fourth quarter of this year. At launch it will be offered with three gasoline engines with a diesel one to follow in early 2014.

Updated 5/30/2013: This review has been updated with the official details, images and specs.

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is still about two months away, but Audi decided it’s never to early to make us start wondering what automotive fruit this show will bear. Today, Audi released the first teaser video that gives us a glimpse of a new model that will be revealed to the world at the end of September in Frankfurt.

Until then however, the model will make its online debut on August 21st, 2013. While no other details have been offered, the video clearly shows a sleek sedan hiding under that silk sheet.

The only Audi sedan that we know is set for a revision is the A8 , so we are leaning toward this being that revised model. Our spy photographers have caught the revised A8 testing several times in the past few weeks, and the few details we have on it reveal that it will be offered with Matrix LED headlights that use 25 individual diodes.

Then again, that phrase "new model" may mean an all-new model to the lineup. We’re not too sure where in Audi’s lineup it could stuff a new sedan, but the German luxury automaker always seems to dig up a new segment.

Stay tuned to see what Audi has up its sleeve.

In 2013, BMW unveiled the 6 Series Gran Coupe and for 2014, Bimmer added all-wheel drive to the 640i, and improved the iDrive controls and 3D navigation across the model line. Despite its relative youth on the market, German tuner, Kelleners Sport, decided to tweak the four-door coupe.

Kelleners Sport started by updating the output level in the 640i and 640d , so both models now deliver 20-percent more power. For the 640d version the power was increased by 53 horsepower to a total of 366 horsepower, while the peak torque goes from 464 to 543 pound-feet. For the 640i, the tuner offers a power increase from 320 to 374 horsepower and the from 331 to 388 pound-feet of torque.

Alongside the power increase, Kelleners also offers a new exhaust system with four end pipes that considerable improve the acoustics of the engine.

Lexus GS F

The other day we brought you the first spy shots of the Lexus IS F Coupe or RC F, which will be Lexus ’ response to models like BMW M4 . Today we get a our first look at the GS F sports sedan , which is Lexus’ answer for the 2014 BMW M5 and 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG .

Unfortunately, the GS F has yet to leave the garage, but our spy photographers were able to shoot some parts of the car to help us see this very hot version of the GS sedan. As you can see, Lexus engineers weren’t very happy this and tried to block our spy photographer’s view each time the garage door was opened.

Under the hood, rumors suggested that the model will retain the same engine as the IS F. This means that we will likely see a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine with power reaching nearly 450 horsepower.

It didn’t take too long for someone to decide that the new Mercedes S-Class can do much better than the standard version, did it? And who better to do such a tune than Mercedes specialist Brabus? The tuner announced a pretty cool upgrade kit for the S-Class today that increases the sedan’s output to as high as 720 horsepower.

The package can be applied to the S500 and S63 AMG versions, but we are pretty sure more goodies are in the works. For the S500 , Brabus offers the Brabus B50-520 PowerXtra CGI performance kit that adds an extra 65 horsepower. As a result, the S500 now delivers a total of 512 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque. With the extra power in tow, the S500 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and up to a top speed of 186 mph.

For the S63 AMG things get even better. Brabus offers a B63-650 PowerXtra CGI kit that adds another 145 horsepower and increases the total output up to 641 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque.

The most powerful version is the Brabus B63S. It gets two special Brabus turbos, a low-temperature water radiator for the intercooling system, a free-flow exhaust system with metal catalysts and 3-inch-thick downpipes. With all these upgrades, the B63S delivers a total of 720 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and a peak torque of 785 pound-feet available consistently between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm. For the B63S top speed is limited to 202 mph.

We have caught the next-generation C-Class many of times, but today our friend Toldi managed to catch it on video.

The prototype caught testing is still camouflaged, but it is no surprise that the new C-Class will combine design elements seen on the F800 Concept Car displayed in Geneva three years ago with elements revealed by the recently launched S-Class and E-Class models.

The interior will also be revised with higher-quality materials and new features. Under the hood, we will definitely see gasoline and diesel engines, but rumors are also circulating that the new C-Class will come with a hybrid powertrain too.

Expect to see the new generation C-Class sedan to be unveiled in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show . A station wagon version will arrive six months later, and we expect coupe and convertible versions to arrive at the end of 2014.
