luxury cars

Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

You can always count on Mansory to have more than just one aftermarket program offering whenever a major auto show rolls around.

It’s no different this time at Frankfurt , as the Swiss tuner has some pretty impressive programs on the show floor, one of which includes this completely customized Mercedes CLS 63 AMG .

While not as, shall we say, grandiose, as the other projects it has at Frankfurt, the luxury sports sedan still receives the benefit of being worked on by Mansory, which is regarded as one of the best in the business.

Aesthetic, aerodynamic and performance upgrades are being offered, beginning with the use of autoclave-prepreg carbon fiber on a variety of components on the body. The hood of the CLS 63 AMG is especially new, providing both a visual and aerodynamic improvement to the overall profile of the car. New side-sill sets and cladding allows the sedan to gain some width — around 50 mm on the front axle and 80 mm on the rear.

Speaking of the back, Mansory installed a new diffuser under the equally new rear apron, allowing for a harmonious working relationship with the rear spoiler to increase the sports coupe’s down-thrust.

Rounding out the mod list for the exterior is a new set of 20-inch ultralight forged wheels

The usual interior digs are offered for this program, including aluminum pedals and footrests, a redesigned sports steering wheel, carbon-fiber components on the dash and console, and of course, full-leather upholstery.

As always, Mansory went to town working on the CLS 63 AMG’s 5.5-liter V-8 engine. In this instance, the modifications involved setting up a newly programmed control unit and adding a new sports air filter for increased oxygen supply to the engine. All told, the CLS 63 AMG is now capable of pumping out 631 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque — a boost of 81 horsepower and 132 pound-feet over the stock model. We estimate these improvements to give the CLS 63 AMG a 0-to-60 mph sprint time of 3.6 seconds with a top speed in the neighborhood of 190 mph.

On the exterior the most obvious change includes the replacements of the old headlamps with new, one-piece assembly with LED DRL. When Mercedes works on a new generation for one of its models, you can rest assured that the AMG version to match will follow right behind it. As the new-generation S-Class made its world debut a few months ago, we all expected to see the AMG version dropped on the market too.

After many months of testing and a few teases, Mercedes released the first details on the new S63 AMG today. At first look, the new model seems better than ever: it gets a sweet AMG aerodynamic package, it is more powerful, it’s lighter and, for the first time, Mercedes will offer it with a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

The new S63 AMG will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be put on sale on the U.S. market in November.

Updated 07/17/2013: This review has been updated with the official details, images and specs.

Updated 9/9/2013: Mercedes-Benz has just released the pricing details on the S63 AMG 4MATIC. It starts at $139,500.

Brabus started work on the new-generation Mercedes S-Class shortly after it hit the market. The first upgrade kit that Brabus offered could by applied to the entire lineup, but at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show , we will see the Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo iBusiness edition, which is based on the S63 AMG and developed for buyers looking for a high-end luxury limousine with huge power numbers.

Brabus uses this 850 6.0 Biturbo iBusiness upgrade to trick the S63 AMG to an extra 250 horsepower, and upgrade the interior with great technology features — mostly from Apple, including the iPad, Mac mini, iPod touch and Apple TV.

Porsche Macan

Porsche is busy testing the upcoming Macan , and it looks like with every test the crossover starts losing more and more camouflage. The latest test took place on the Nurburgring race track, and,as you can easily see, the prototype caught here is almost completely uncovered.

The only camouflage we can see is on the headlights — they are hidden under stickers in an attempt to make them bigger — on the small side windows and on the thinner taillights. Everything else is revealed in all its glory and it is now obvious that the Macan will look like its big brother, the Cayenne .

When it comes to the engine lineup though, the Macan will be a little bit different than the Cayenne. The base version will get a four-cylinder engine with 220 horsepower, while the Turbo version will get a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 370 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

Expect to see the Porsche Macan at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show .

Bugatti 16 C Galibier

The "on-again, off-again" state of the Bugatti Galibier has changed more times in recent years than Taylor Swift’s relationship status on Facebook.

It’s a pity because the Galibier was actually a pretty tantalizing super sedan that complemented the more performance-oriented Veyron supercar nicely.

But after years of waffling on its future, Bugatti’s current CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer may have finally put the final nail on the Galibier’s coffin.

Speaking to Motor Trend, Dürheimer bared his thoughts on the future of the Galibier and apparently, the super sedan doesn’t have much of a future anymore, at least as far as a production model is concerned. The new Bugatti CEO, who was actually the engineering brains behind the Veyron, expressed concern regarding the company’s capability in supporting two expensive models. The business case to handle two expensive models doesn’t add up given Bugatti’s current setup, and with the Veyron expected to receive a long-overdue replacement, something had to be sacrificed.

And that something appears to be the Galibier.

We don’t like it any more than a lot of people do, but you know what they say, "business is business".

Under the hood, the CLA 250 Sport gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 211 horsepower — a 3-horsepower jump over the CLA 250 — and 258 pound-feet of torque between 1,200 and 4,000 rpm. BMW 4 Series Gran Coupè

While most of the world is waiting for the official unveiling of the production version BMW i8 , BMW engineers are busy testing cars that we are not going to see just yet; like this 4 Series GranCoupe caught in less camo then ever before.

When compared to the 3 Series GT, the new 4 Series GranCoupe rides much lower and has a more elegant body that is sleek and sexy.

The exterior of the new 4 Series GranCoupe will combine design elements recently unveiled by the 4 Series Coupe with a four-door coupe-like look. The engine lineup will also be shared with the recently launched 4 Series Coupe and, depending on the market, will include both gasoline and diesel engines.

Expect the BMW 4 Series GranCoupe to arrive in 2014 as a 2015 model.
