Luxury cars are expensive and come in all shapes: sedan, coupe or convertible. They offer all the comfort, luxury and performance but you will have to pay premium price. German cars like BMW or Mercedes are the first brand that come to our mind but nowadays nearly all car makers offer nice and comfortable models that enter in the luxury car category.

When it comes to beefed-up Mercedes-Benz vehicles, very few companies can match the the brilliance of Brabus or Lorinser . Their offerings are always unique and hit the streets with enough horsepower to put more than a few sports cars to shame and make them crawl back to their fancy garages.

However, both companies tend to overdo some of their projects, with several results looking like pimped out cars that wear more chutzpah than we can handle. Just have a look at Lorinser’s take on the 2014 S-Class or its Easybrid package for the Smart ForTwo and you’ll understand what we mean.

Unlike those tuning houses, Carlsson uses a slightly milder and more attractive approach. Aside from the exaggerated bumper seen on the 2014 CLA , its creations are usually balanced and come with a healthy dose of seriousness attached to them. Actually, a few Carlssons can be labeled as sleepers waiting to unleash enormous amounts of horsepower over an unsuspecting victim.

The same can be said about the tuner’s most recent creation, the CE30. Based on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class , the Carlsson-badged sedan is only a tad more aggressive than its standard kin in terms of visual updates, but it can churn out more than 500 horsepower.

It’s been about three months since the 2015 Porsche Cayenne revealed its facelifted front end, and we are finally able to have a closer, all-around look at the updated SUV , as our skilled spy photographers caught a pair of test vehicles wandering about somewhere in Germany.

As we’ve previously noted, the Cayenne ’s new face is distinguished by a more rectangular grille and slightly smaller side air inlets. The turn signals are now placed upward into the bumper, being mounted right above the air intakes, while the fog lamps gained reshaped surrounds. The headlamps have also been subjected to a redesign, but the new units aren’t too different when compared to the old ones.

Around back, the only noticeable novelties are the reworked bumper, the enlarged exhaust pipes and a new pair of taillights. The latter are still hidden behind semitransparent plastic wraps, but it appears that they are slightly slimmer as far as shape goes.

Our paparazzi weren’t able to zoom their lenses into the cabin, but it’s not like they missed anything. We don’t expect major improvements in the facelifted Cayenne aside from a reconfigured steering wheel and additional trimming options.

More important changes are likely to occur under the hood of the Cayenne S, where a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6 engine rated around 420 horsepower is set to replace the current 4.8-liter V-8. Naturally, both the entry-level diesel and the range-topping Turbo models are in for power output updates, while the hybrid version will borrow the gasoline-electric drivetrain available in the Panamera S E-Hybrid .

The Range Rover Evoque may not be as imposing as the Sport or the Discovery in its bone-stock form, but take the small SUV over to Kahn Design and you’ll be driving completely new vehicle once it leaves the shop. Just take a look at the Black Label Edition the Brits launched for the 2013 model year to have a better taste of their craftsmanship.

Sure, the Black Label Edition and its triple-black suit is a tad sober for the Evoque’s shape and purpose, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat in Kahn’s workshop. For instance, the company’s most recent attempt at enhancing the Evoque showcases a sportier approach that brings together weight reducing strategies and a flamboyant look.

Cutting weight is achieved with help from a new set of carbon composite bumpers that shave a few pounds off the compact crossover that now carries a Volcanic Grey wrap. Complementing the new exterior color are a number of matte black body parts, including a trunk spoiler lip, a sump guard, a rear diffuser, and the side vents mounted on the front fenders.

As with most Kahn-badged Range Rovers, the Evoque RS Sport also benefits from a 3D mesh front grille, LED daytime running lights, an extended upper roof wing, and a stainless steel exhaust system.

Did the 2015 A8 just eat something sour, or is the A8 pouting while the Panamera soaks up all the praise within the hyper-competitive VW Group? Whatever the reason, all is not well with the new Audi flagship’s facial expression.

The 2015 Audi A8 made its public debut at Frankfurt Auto Show this week, where the new A8 range benefits from a facelift, and detail tech refinements for safety and efficiency.

The latest A8 range is larger than ever, with a much broader range of models coming to American Audi dealers in spring 2014. The U.S.-market A8 range will add a Hybrid front-wheel-drive option for the 2015 model year, as well as the current V-6, V-8 and W-12 engine choices.

Audi ’s potent 3.0-liter TDI also joined the A8 line for the 2014 model year, and is available now. The engines for 2015 all feature mild output and performance tweaks, which are aimed at improved acceleration stats as well as fuel economy.

The bulk of the A8 volume in America is expected to still be the firm’s advanced 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter gasoline V-8 engines, each paired with quattro AWD as standard equipment. Short and long wheelbase choices are available, with prices that are expected to range from $76,000 to $88,000, before options.

The A8’s facelift brings an even more serious and technical appearance to the nose, with scowling LED running lights that look meaner than a junkyard dog. Part of the advanced debut of the A8 is to allow time for NHTSA approval of the all-new Matrix LED forward lighting system. Bundled with the A8’s new active safety technology, the LED style statement can actually be a key selling point for some buyers.

This facelift for the A8 leaves a number of issues from the previous model unresolved, which is not great, considering the strength of the latest Jaguar XJ and the brand-new S-Class .

Updated 06/04/2014: Audi today announced prices for the newly redesigned 2015 A8 model line which will arrive at dealerships this month. Prices will range from $77,400 for the base version to $137,900 for the A8 L W12 version.

As we all know, the Acura MDX model that we saw in Detroit was only a prototype that gave prospective buyers "a strong indication of the styling and design direction for the third generation." Well, now that the 2013 New York Auto Show is upon us, the 2014 MDX has officially been unveiled in full-production form.

In all honesty, the prototype and the production models are very similar, but Acura basically just toned down the extreme stuff. Things like the LED bars on the front and rear bumpers are nixed. Additionally, Acura gave the front skirt a more traditional look; as opposed to the futuristic treatment it received in the prototype. From the side, the prototype and the production models are nearly indistinguishable, as they both carry almost the identical profile and the rims are identical.

One thing that we’re sure every Acura fan has been waiting for is the revealing of the new model’s interior. And Acura delivered the goods today.

Updated 06/03/2014: Acura announced prices for the 2015 Acura MDX which went on sale today, June 3. Prices for the 2015 MDX will range from $42,565 for the base version and up to $56,780 for the MDX equipped with SH-AWD and Advance Package.

Miley Cyrus now knows what it feels like to get car jacked. The controversial 21-year old artist lost her 2014 Maserati Quattroporte after two burglars managed to infiltrate her North Hollywood home last Friday.

According to the LA Times, the burglars climbed the fence and then entered the home and garage, eventually getting away with the $100,000 Italian luxury performance sedan to go along with a handful of jewelry, the values of which have yet to be determined.

Fortunately, Miley wasn’t in her home when the burglary happened. Unfortunately, her 2014 Quattroporte was and by the time authorities were called in at around 4:00 pm local time, the merry pair of burglars had already escaped, jewelry and Maserati in tow.

If that Quattroporte is registered and has all the proper paperwork, it shouldn’t be too difficult to locate it. But it still sucks to be Miley Cyrus. Your home gets robbed twice in the span of eight months and they take your beloved Maserati Quattroporte.

Couldn’t they have taken those Hannah Montana posters instead?

The list of improvements customers can add to the powerful and stylish 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe just got bigger thanks to newly announced AMG Line kit. Just like the individual items and packages coming through the AMG Performance Studio , the AMG Line kit doesn’t meddle with the coupe’s engine, leaving the 5.5-liter V-8 and its 577 horsepower untouched.

However, the bundle comes with an array of exterior and interior upgrades that add to the S63 AMG Coupe’s aggressive personality. The vehicle’s front fascia changes dramatically thanks to a diamond grille that comes with white surrounds for the star emblem and with chrome pins covering the slats. Moving down the bumper, the slightly reshaped air intakes are joined by a chrome splitter that might come in handy at high speeds.

Alterations are less obvious around back, where a white diffuser replaces the black one found on the regular model, while the twin exhaust configuration leaves room for dual, rectangular pipes. A new set of side sills are also in place to make sure the coupe ditches its standard looks no matter how you look at it.

Every now and again, we get invites to quick test-drive events, and for the most part we simply ignore them. But when BMW invited us to test out the new 435i M Sport along with its nearest competitor, the 2014 Audi S5 , I would have been nuts to say "no." In one corner is the newest Bimmer with 300 horses coming from its TwinPower Turbo I-6 and all the cool little M Sport bits — brakes, wheels, suspension, etc. In the other corner is the tried-and-true Audi S5 with 333 horses and 325 pound-feet of torque.

This battle of German midsize coupes also includes a battle of power-generating philosophies. From Bimmer you have the new-age twin-scroll turbocharging system and from Audi you have the old, faithful supercharger. Many years ago there was no contest between the two, because the supercharger had no lag, while older turbos had serious lag issues, resulting in slower initial launches while the exhaust gases get the turbo spooling. The introduction of twin-scroll turbocharging and BMW’s perfection of the technology has rendered this a non-issue.

Both the 435i and the S5 are outstanding rigs and do the job of combining performance and luxury well without pushing the bounds of comfort like the wild RS5 and M4 . But which one is the victor in this quick, five-mile-long test in city traffic?

Mercedes has a history of enlisting famous celebrities to endorse its products. But none of them are anywhere close to awesome as the man the company tapped to promote the new GLA-Class . He may just be a plumber-by-trade, but this endorser is also a mushroom-stompin’, fireball-spewin’, Yoshi-ridin’, Princess Peach-savin’ bad-ass, the kind you wouldn’t want to mess with when he’s behind the wheel of a GLA-Class.

He is Mario, ladies and gentlemen and he’s coming for us all.

The new GLA-Class commercial featuring Mario is as different as it gets for an automaker. Last I played the game, I didn’t know that the Mercedes crossover could to run over mushrooms and jump over castles. Then again, last I remember, Mario was a tad bit pudgier than the overall-wearing dude that stepped out of the GLA. So we guess this is a bit of a dramatization...

But hey, Mario riding the GLA-Class. That’s how you tap into the child in all of us, Mercedes. And a 1-up for creativity...

Audi is adding to the number of A3 models that are available with the very efficient 1.4-liter, I-4, TFSI engine currently sipping gasoline in Europe. The impressive powertrain is now available in the four-door sedan, three-door hatch, five-door Sportback, and of course, the Cabriolet pictured above.

Audi is offering the engine with a choice of transmissions: standard six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch. The highly engineered mechanics inside the engine allow for outstanding fuel efficiency to the tune of nearly 50 mpg on the European combined cycle. The engine’s carbon footprint is equally impressive, emitting only 175.4 grams of C02 per mile.

Though the engine does well at sipping fuel, it lacks somewhat on power. Its horsepower rating is listed at 150 and it propels the car to 62 mph in an underwhelming 8.1 seconds. Then again, 50 mpg is a pretty solid trade off for losing nearly every light-to-light drag race.

If torque is what’s needed, Audi also offers the 1.6-liter, TDI engine in the A3 Ultra. Making 110 horsepower, the turbo diesel consumes fuel at the sparse rate of 71.3 mpg. Its clean-diesel technology also keeps it from cutting holes in the atmosphere, emitting only 141.6 grams per mile. The TDI is available in both the four-door sedan and three-door hatchback versions.

Sadly, it seems Audi will be keeping these fuel-efficient models away from these United States, likely due to regulations and red tape.
