Even if the Maserati Quattroporte has only six years of life it has already received fifty six awards from the most prestigious automotive and lifestyle publications. So, is no wonder why at the Geneva Motor Show we will see the special edition Quattroporte Sport GT S "Awards Edition".
This special edition is painted in an exclusive pearlescent metallic gray with golden nuanced color and features a burnished treatment used on the exterior chrome parts, as well as on the side air vents and radiator surround. It sits on 20"’ Multi Trident dark gray rims with satin finish.
The interior gets Poltrona Frau leather of the seats combined with perforated Alcantara with a new undulated pattern, and the headlining still in Alcantara. Completing the interior space are the special brushed aluminum door sills and Piano Black satin-finish wood moldings.
When you’re dead, you really don’t care as to what car brings you to your grave, right?
So why is it that we’re seeing an increasing number of high-end four-door sedans get turned into a hearse?
We’re guessing that despite being dead, these people would still prefer to ride in class and if taking a Maserati Quattroporte and turning it into a hearse is their idea of class, then hey, who are we to judge.
As far as Quattroporte’s are concerned, we don’t know what it is about this particular car, but it seems that it’s been subjected to a lot of modifications over the years – and not the kind where they soup it up. From being covered in shattered glass, to getting stretched out into a limo, to getting turned into a fire truck, the Maserati Quattporte has undergone more facelifts than Lady Jocelyn Wildenstein. Ok, that’s not true.
Nevertheless, this particular Maserati Quattroporte was modified by Intercar Modena and to be fair, it actually looks classy and elegant compared to other funeral hearses we’ve seen in the past. At least, it has that going for it.
There’s no excuse for crashing a car, let alone doing it while under the influence of alcohol so when we found out that a 21-year-old girl did all of the above – in a Maserati Quattroporte, no less – we kind of figured that she’s going to be in a heck of a lot of trouble.
After having one too many alcoholic beverages for her own good, Alex Ford decided to have an even better time behind the wheel of the borrowed Maserati. Initial reports indicated of a speeding Quattroporte to which, Officer Tracy Sheets was quick to respond to.
It didn’t take long for Ford and Sheets to meet though, after the Quattroporte crashed head-on into Sheets’ police cruiser, severely injuring the police officer and leaving Ford in a pretty bad mess of her own.
Both ladies were taken to a hospital and after some initial concerns about their status, both Ford and Sheets have since been upgraded to good and fair conditions, respectively.
As far as Ford is concerned, her good fortune was all too fleeting as after a blood draw determined her alcohol level, a warrant was issued for the reckless driver where she’s facing charges of intoxicated assault causing serious body injury to a peace officer.
We don’t mind sounding like a broken record in the interest of safety, but drinking under the influence has never – and will never be – a good idea.
No it’s not a horse-drawn carriage like the ones we’ve come to know in fairy tales, but we’re hedging our bets that these gorgeous debutantes had no problem being chauffer driven in a Maserati Quattroporte.
The young debutantes had the time of their lives, not just by getting a chance to ride a Quattroportes, but they were also decked from head to toe with some of the world’s most expensive jewelries. On top of that, the ladies were also greeted at the ball by no less than a few women who know a thing or two about royalty: HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia, HH Princess Olga Romanov and Their Graces The Duke and Duchess of Somerset. As far as the Maserattis were concerned, the luxury car brand was the official entourage vehicle of the Queen Charlotte’s Ball. Apart from its duties as entourage vehicle, Maseratti also took advantage of the occasion by auctioning off an all-new 2010 Maserati GranCabrio.
The event, which was founded over 250 years ago to raise fund for mothers and babies, was supported by Maserati GB together with its London distributor, HR Owen Sports Cars, in an attempt to raise donations to the Wolfston and Weston Research Centre for Family Health at the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital site of Imperial College London. The event was able to raise £60,000 for the hospital where the money would be put to use to help further develop research of premature birth, miscarriage, and infertility among mothers and all women alike. Here at TopSpeed, we appreciate a noble deed when we see one and Maserati’s involved at such a worthy cause will not go unnoticed. Good work, gentlemen.
The Italian sports car builder Maserati has just announced their UK pricing for the Quattroporte Sport GTS luxury sedan. The powerful four door is now on sale and can be yours starting at £89,865.
The Quattroporte Sport GTS is powered by a 4.7 Liter V8 that delivers 440 HP at 7,000 RPM. All that power sends the saloon sprinting from 0 to 60 MPH in just 5.1 seconds, and the car won’t stop until it reaches a top speed of 177 MPH.
The GranTurismo MC won’t be the only Maserati hitting the track soon. The Quattroporte is getting a makeover for the touring car Superstars Series. To help it along the track, the sedan gets a bump to 450 hp and loses a gut-busting 1200 lbs.

The interior of the vehicle is exquisite; the car features sumptuous Bianco Polare (polar white) Poltrona Frau Leather upholstery. There are embossed Centurion logos on the headrests. A numbered plaque ensures authenticity and exclusivity. While the exterior is finished with titanium colored trim and rolls around on 20” ball polished rims.
The Centurion 4.2 is powered by a remarkable 4.2 liter V8 engine that produces 400 HP. The engine lets the vehicle sprint to 60 MPH in only 5.6 seconds and powers the Maserati to a top speed of 167 MPH. Ensuring a smooth and responsive ride the fully automatic gearbox was prepared by ZF, the highest possible quality when it comes to gearing.
The 4.7 liter version represents the ultimate synthesis of the luxury saloon with Maserati’s renowned sporting prowess. The extra 30 horse power are good for shaving two tenths off the cars 0 to 60 MPH (100 km/h) time and raise the top speed to 174 MPH.
We don’t really have the details why Taťána Kuchařová, Miss World 2006, is posing with a Maserati Quattroporte S, but then again some great things in life don’t need explanation. Just sit back and enjoy two very beautiful things. There’s a few more pics after the jump.
Although most Italians may age gracefully, they still age. The Maserati Quattroporte has been around since 2004, and has even gotten a refreshening this year. But it still needs some extra pizzaz to keep it young. So Detroit is going to be the new fountain of youth, as the Quattroporte Sport GTS will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in January.
It is powered by a V8 4.7-liter engine, with power increased to 433 hp (3 more than the Quattroporte S that shares the engine.) The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS also features a new shift pattern for the transmission, new black grille with concave vertical fins & Trident logo with red accents, new headlights, and a revised exhaust system that guaranteed to keep the women swooning.
