2011 Maserati GranCabrio Fendi

  Review

We love Fiat’s partnership with Gucci and the resulting 500 by Gucci born from it. However, with all due respect to those two, the latest collaboration between Italian automaker and Italian fashion house is making us drool. The car is a Maserati GranCabrio. The fashion house is Fendi. The result is the GranCabrio Fendi, a car that has been described as "a masterpiece of technology and craftsmanship."

And that just might be an understatement.

To begin with, the GranCabrio has been finished with a special dark grey, three-layer body color with an iridescent golden finish on the surface. Then there are wood trims across the dashboard, doors, and gear lever, complemented by yellow painted brake calipers. The seats have been dressed with Fendi’s iconic ’double F’ logo with the headrests embroidered with yellow stitching featuring Maserati’s famous trident logo.

In addition, the special edition GranCabrio also features a silver oval plaque on the dashboard, displaying the Maserati trident, the Fendi logo, and the five-digit series number. There’s also a special black car cover and to top everything off, there’s also a Limited Edition Travel Set of Fendi luggage and accessories.

For all the changes done on the car’s looks, the powertrain and corresponding output remains the same. What this means is that you’ll still get the 4.7-liter V8 engine with 433 horsepower and 362 lb/ft of torque with a top speed 180 mph.

Maserati has yet to release the financial damage this car will have on our accounts, but to be honest, we’d probably fork over whatever figure it sells for just because we’re completely smitten with it. The paint finish alone already caused our jaws to drop to the floor.

UPDATE 09/22/2011: Maserati has just released a video that provides a look behind the scenes of the GranCabrio Fendi. It’s a slow starter, complete with elevator music and a slow sketch of the Maserati, but it shows everything from the work on the body down to the stitching of the seats.

I agree that the speed performance of the car is not that impressive. Anyway, with the luxurious and elegance of the vehicle, I bet it would be an awesome car!

As expected from the Maserati it has an impressive styling on their vehicle. However, its kind of disappointing that the figure performance of the vehicle is that powerful.

I think it is better if they use a light body paint on this vehicle even on its interior. Anyway, it’s a good thing that this convertible has an efficient and an awesome engine.

I don’t know why they say that it is the masterpiece of technologies with the fact that I didn’t see any one of it. Anyway, the appearance looks so perfect for me, and I’m impressed with its powerful engine.

Yeah! I have to agree with that. It didn’t really look good on its body paint even though its platform is somehow impressive. Even its interior is seemed boring. I hope that it would also be available in other colors.

Well, I think that they should need a lighter body paint with this vehicle because it didn’t really look great with its current color. However, I still find it so fun to drive with.

433 horsepower on its V8 engine is I think quite dangerous for a convertible car, but I still find it so fun to drive. smiley Anyway, I have to be against on what the other commentator saying, because it doesn’t look lousy with me on its body paint.

The V8 engine that can deliver 433 horsepower of this convertible car is really quite dangerous, but I’m still impressed with it. With that engine, I found it so fun to drive, but I have to agree that it didn’t look so great on its body paint.

I must say that the partnership with Fiat and Gucci is really great! And with this Fendi car of them, I can see how successful the partnerships are. One thing I just don’t like about it, is its wheels. I found it lousy.

I’m really impressed with every details and parts made and changes it done. Honestly speaking very unbelievable process of developments. Very powerful power-train, I like how technology and craftsmanship combine. Can’t imagine how this people create this masterpiece. Thumbs up!
