2014 Maserati Quattroporte Spied Near The Nurburgring
Maserati has been furiously working on a facelifted version of the Quattroporte for many months now, and finally the first genuine driving footage has been released when the car was recently snapped cruising the streets near and around the Nurburgring. As the 2014 Quattroporte isn’t set for a release until 2013, very little details have been released about the car. However, enough have been rumored to the point where they’re beginning to sound very convincing. First off, reports suggest that the Quattroporte will ride on a brand new platform predominantly implemented to save a few pounds, while also enhancing comfort, control, and rigidity. Furthermore, the new Quattroporte is rumored to be offered with both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive layouts, and the latter has left us scratching our heads a bit. Sure, Quattroporte may mean ‘four doors’ rather than ‘four-wheel drive’, but we’re very surprised a front-wheel drive version will be offered rather than a rear-wheel drive layout. After all, the Quattroporte’s biggest competitor the BMW M5 is RWD, and there’s no questioning the success of that car. Furthermore, the Porsche Panamera is also offered in RWD and AWD. Nevertheless, the 2014 Quattroporte is shaping up to be a suitable facelift for the dated car, and with the car set to retain a big 4.7-liter V8 engine, 470HP is on the cards and this could easily be increased for sport variants further down the track. The aforementioned video does depict a very nice engine and exhaust note, but don’t expect any rapid changes in the styling department, as Maserati will likely only add or remove a handful of exterior and interior components.
Maserati collaborates with Bulgari to create the Octo Maserati timepiece
Two heavyweights from their respective industries are collaborating on a special edition time piece that should have auto enthusiasts and watch collectors stand up and take notice. Italian automaker Maserati and Italian luxury goods retailer Bulgari have joined forces to build the rather flashy and extravagant Octo Maserati timepiece. The Octo name of the timepiece lends itself to its octagonal shape, which has been enclosed in a steel case that measures 45mm in diameter. Among the striking features of the watch include a scratchproof sapphire crystal, a transparent caseback with the famous Maserati Trident logo, a brushed steel feel with a tachometric scale, a hand-applied octagonal inner bezel ring, a blue-lacquered dial, and a mechanical Calibre GG780 Haute Horlogerie movement. There’s no word yet on how much the Octo Maserati timepiece will cost, but you only need to look at the two companies - Maserati and Bulgari - that are responsible for this watch to determine that it’s going to cost you a lot more than just a pretty penny.   A couple of weeks ago, the next generation Maserati Quattroporte was making its rounds testing in the cold weather when it took a few turns on an icetrack in Northern Sweden. Now, it has graduated to taking some quick laps at the Nurburgring in Germany and our spy photographers were there to capture it in action. Maserati’s testing for the new Quattroporte is hard and intensive, so it should definitely be ready when it launches at the 2012 Paris Auto Show in September. As previously reported, the new generation Quattroporte will grow to make room for the "baby Quattroporte," will still be lighter than the current model due to the use of more lightweight materials. The Maserati will receive a completely new design, but the current grille treatment will remain the same. The interior will get improved technology and a more luxurious treatment. Under the hood, Maserati will place the same 4.7 liter V8 engine with some updates to improve the output to 475 HP. The power will go via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox to the rear wheels or optional to all four wheels.
Spy Shots: Maserati Quattroporte goes testing on an icetrack
 Maserati is getting prepared for its major debut later this year: the new generation Quattroporte has been caught testing on an icetrack used by the Fiat Group up in the cold parts of Sweden. As you can see, the car is completely hidden under camouflage, but as previously reported the car’s new design "will be more of an evolution than a revolution." The new Maserati Quattroporte will grow in dimensions to make room for the new baby Quattroporte, but it will still be lighter than the current model due to the use of more lightweight materials. Under the hood, Maserati will place a 4.7 liter V8 engine with some improvements made to increase the final output to 475 HP and to reduce fuel economy by about 15%. The power will go to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox or, as an option, to all four wheels. Only time will tell if these changes are enough to give the German power sedans a run for their money. Maserati chose the 2012 Geneva Motor Show to drop its new GranTurismo Sport, the model that is set to replace the current GranTurismo S. The Gran Turismo Sport adds increased performance and an elegant overall restyling that stresses its sporty nature. It will go on sale in Fall 2012. The current GranTurismo S was unveiled back at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show and uses a 4.7 liter V8 engine that delivers 440 hp. The location of Maserati’s debut, as well as the engine powering have not changed, but the V8 has been tweaked to deliver a total of 460 HP. As a result, the new Sport version will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.7 seconds. As for the exterior changes, the highlight of the new Granturismo Sport is a redesigned front bumper that optimizes the front air flow for both the engine and brakes. The headlights have received new DRL Led technology and the taillights were improved by an elegant, more aggressive, darker tone for the light clusters. The interior received completely redesigned front and rear seats, as well as a new steering wheel with a sportier and more muscular look.  Maserati has been preparing a new luxury sedan to be placed under the current Quattropotre for longer than we’re sure they’d care to admit, but a new ripple of news could be a sign that the planning is coming to an end. Up until now, we’ve all been referring to the future model as the "baby Quattropotre," but Maserati has now trademarked the "Levante" (Italian word for "East") name to be used for one of the three new models set to be unveiled in the upcoming years. The three models ready to be named are a new generation Quattroporte - that will retain its name for sure -, a new SUV for which Maserati has already trademarked the "Cinqueporte" name, and the new baby Quattroporte. Logically speaking, the new baby sedan seems to be the only option without a name to call it’s very own, so "Levante" may be the winner. The new baby Quattroporte - or Levante - is set to be unveiled sometime in 2013-2014. It will be powered by a choice of V6 and V8 engines, both mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. In the latest episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson got behind the wheel of one of the most impressive sports cars of the moment: a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. But he didn’t just test drive it; Clarkson put it up against Maserati’s GranTurismo MC Stradale to see how it would fair. The result was an impressive show. As a refresher: The C63 AMG Black Series is powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 510 HP and a peak torque of 457 lb-ft. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and can hit a top speed of 155 mph. 2007 Maserati 4200 Evo "Dynamic Trident" by G&S Exclusive
In 2001, Maserati replaced the 3200 GT with the 4200 GT/Coupe, which it then produced for six years. It’s been 11 years since the last Coupe rolled off the production line, and now is when German tuner, G&S Exclusive, has decided to grace us with a tuning package for it. Better late than never, we guess. Surprisingly, G&S Exclusive decided to make the old 4200 GT model look like an even older model, or more specifically, the 3200 GT. The changes needed for the transformation included new rear lights, a new boot lid, a new rear fender with a powerful diffuser, and new side skirts that suitably connect the front and rear spoilers. On right and left sides of the rear spoiler, the tuner put in polished 85 millimeter double-ended exhaust pipes from the Capristo exhaust system (EDS & MSD) with valve control back pressure control and remote control functionality. The car sits on a new set of 20" light alloy wheels combined with a KW Variant 3 sports suspension system with compression and rebound adjustment functionality. The revised Maserati 4200 GT/Coupe was then painted in a "Lamborghini Gallardo Orange" 3-coat glaze paint with matte black parts serving as bold statements to the bright color scheme. For the interior, the tuner is offering a very cool black paint finish with different carbon fiber elements. 2013 Maserati GranCabrio Sport
Maserati announced the launch of the new Granturismo Sport as a replacement for the current GranTurismo S and while no official confirmation has been made, we are pretty sure a convertible will follow shortly. The GranCabrio version will most likely arrive a year after the Granturismo Sport and will feature the same design language and engine as the coupe version. This means we will see the same new front bumper that optimizes the front air flow for both the engine and brake cooling, DRL Led headlights, and smoked tail lights. This aggressive appearance will be further enhanced by the new 4.7 liter V8 engine that has been tricked to deliver a total of 460 HP. The 0 to 60 mph sprint time will remain in the 4.8 seconds area, but the car will be a bit heavier because of its soft-top roof mechanism. It’s already known that Maserati plans on bringing a new baby Quattroporte in 2013, but German magazine, Autobild, has uncovered some more news on the future model. According to them, Maserati is also preparing a diesel version for the new model, internally known as the Maseratina. The diesel version will be powered by a new V6 diesel engine with more than 300 HP and 516 lb-ft torque. It is still unknown whether or not the new engine will also be used in the next generation Quattroporte. The new Quattroporte will be about 4.90 meters long, matching the lengths of the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes S-class. Recent spy shots have confirmed that it will feature a shorter wheelbase, smaller front brakes, an ill-fitting windscreen, and one exhaust pipe on each side of the rear. These elements will be combined with the latest advanced driver assistance systems. The baby Quattroporte isn’t the only new model on Maserati’s to do list this year, either. The list of debuts also includes the Kubang in Autumn at the 2012 Franfurt Motor Show and the new generation Quattroporte at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show.
