At the same time the extensive range of standard equipment leaves plenty of scope for individuality – another way in which the luxury brand is following the tradition of the legendary Maybach cars of earlier years:
Because the Maybach is made in the modern "Manufaktur" – a manufacturing facility in which craftsmanship plays a major part - and in very small numbers averaging five vehicles per day, it is possible to meet further individual customer requirements and thereby make each of these luxury cars unique in its own way. Engine: peak values for output and torqueThe newly developed engine reflects the long years of experience and great expertise of DaimlerChrysler in the development, design and production of twelve-cylinder power units. With a displacement of 5.5 litres, and with the help of twin turbocharging, the Maybach engine develops an output of 405 kW/550 hp, with a maximum torque of 900 Newton metres already available from 2300 rpm. This gives the "Type 12" power unit a higher output and more torque than any other standard-production saloon car engine in the world. Thanks to three-valve technology and highly efficient catalytic converters it already complies with the strict EU 4 exhaust emission limits which come into force in 2005. Safety: occupant protection with ten airbagsIn addition to a highly sophisticated body structure, the exemplary safety technology of this high-end luxury motor car includes a total of ten airbags - two adaptive airbags with two-stage gas generators for the front occupants, four sidebags and two large windowbags on each side of the interior. The automatic comfort-fit three-point seat belts, high-performance belt tensioners and belt force limiters are integrated into the seats and can therefore develop their full protective action in any position. By virtue of these sophisticated safety features the new Maybach passes the stringent crash tests prescribed by the European and American NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) with flying colours. The Maybach’s high level of active safety is assisted by the innovative Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) braking system developed by Mercedes-Benz, which features two central control units, two high-pressure reservoirs and two hydraulic units in the case of the Maybach. This means that these high-end cars are equipped with a total of eight braking circuits, while internally ventilated front disc brakes, each with two callipers, ensure deceleration drivers can really depend on.
9 comments: Maybach 62 I really love this luxury car brand. It perfectly combines the classic and contemporary styling. And it seems that their tons of high technology features offered on this car. BTW, its a good thing that they have worked on the safety of the passengers.
Daimler has spoiled the name of S class and steroids. Maybach is such a failure even from the start because of the uniqueness on the design.
Does it mean that this is the contrary of the 62S? Since it doesn’t have the S?hehe. Maybe not so special! No wonder!
Every visible hard surface is hand-rubbed to a deep luster, every soft surface is creamy leather, and everything that moves does so silently and precisely.
Once again Daimler’s over-the-top full-boat luxury ride is available in this relatively short-wheelbase version for owners who might want to do the driving themselves.
I am a professional driver / chauffeur. I have had the unique opportunity to test drive for a " hi end cilent " the Maybach " 57 " . Around the same time I also drove the " New " Rolls Royce " Phantom " and the ’ New " Bentley, " Flying Spur ".
I was very impressed with the Maybach, it is a sheer pleasure to drive or be driven in. What I was very pleased with, and my cilent was that the vehicle is a " sleeper ", meaning that unless you know the car and or you got a close look at it, you wouldn’t know the car, unlike the Phantom. When I drove the Phantom, I felt like a " movie star " almost everone who saw the car coming down the street, either yelled, screamed, pointed or looked, my cilent was not impressed with the publicity, at all. The only challenge the faced my cilent was that he couldn’t get his head around the 12 cylinder engine. The Bentley " Flying Spur " was also quite " spectacular " but once again I was faced with the 12 cylinder. At this time my cilent has settled for a 2007 LWD Jaguar, a far cry from the cars stated above, but he is pleased. We are currently looking at and test driving a couple of Bentley Arnages, years 2001 to 2004. This weekend I will be driving a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 111, which is always a great treat. www.rgcollection.ca
