platform, it is technically possible, because the Volvo
is available with a Haldex all-wheel-drive system. Should the MPS absolutely be front-driven, though, we’d imagine that the engine will be de-tuned too, to a level that the front wheels will more easily cope with.

Japan’s Mazda Motor Corp. said on Friday it has temporarily suspended production of its Mazda3 compact car model at a Chinese joint venture due to a flaw in the process to acquire government approval for the model’s production.
Production at the plant in Chongqing, southwestern China, has been voluntarily suspended since April 7 after a Feb. 27 start, a Mazda spokesman in Tokyo said, adding it was unclear when it would resume.

Already available elsewhere in the world as the Mazda3 MPS, the MazdaSpeed3 has officially made its North American debut today in New York. The attraction of the MS3 is pretty straightforward: 250-hp from a 2.3L direct-inject turbo four-cylinder, the same six-speed standard shift used in the MazdaSpeed6 and a universally praised chassis that’s both stiff and light. At a joint press conference held today, Mazda Motor Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Changan Automotive Group announced the commencement of Mazda3 production at the Changan Ford main plant in Chongqing.
