After almost eight years of production, the highly successful Mazda RX-8 will be reinvented in a completely new model. The original 2+2 doors coupe is expected to come with an all-new skin and refreshed “Zoom-Zoom” design in 2009. The dynamics are guaranteed to be better than ever for an RX model, featuring the latest generation of Mazda’s exotic Wankel rotary engine.
Zoom…Zoom…Zoom. I have often felt that the people behind that famous phrase were geniuses. After all, it perfectly sums up Mazda’s emphasis on sporty fun, which the company seems to build into every vehicle that they make. This is particularly true of their 2006 Mazda RX8.
Mazda Motor Corporation has upgraded its four-door, four-seat, rotary engine-equipped RX-8 sports car, which is to be sold at Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan. Mazda is commencing sales of the 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmission models and accepting orders for the new 6-speed automatic transmission (AT) version from today. The 6-speed AT RX-8 goes on sale in mid-October 2006.
The Mazda RX-8 redefined the sports car segment when it was launched in summer 2003, and it continues to shake up the automotive world’s definition of what a sports car can be. With an exterior suggesting athletic tension, a twin-rotor engine that continues to win accolades from the automotive press and an interior offering comfort and practicality, the 2005 Mazda RX-8 is a new breed of sports car.
