At the 2011 SEMA Show, Mazda arrived with a cool MX-5 Super20 Concept that lit up the stage in Las Vegas. Mazda claimed that the concept was loud, proud, and boisterous with its bursts of turbocharged energy, but that they have brought something even better to the 2012 SEMA Show: the Super25. Mazda claims this new version is better, meaner, and has been crafted with endurance racing in mind.

Such a great amount of attention has been placed on Mazda’s resident sports car because they say the MX-5 Miata "is the epitome of a light and limber sports car that won’t burn a hole through an enthusiast’s pocket." No arguments there, as the MX5 is small, light, and puts up the right kind of competition to other, more expensive sports car. That being said, is this enough to handle such long-distance, weary-heavy racing?

Hit the jump to find out whether the Mazda MX-5 Super25 has what it takes.

There’s something to be said about the Mazda CX-5 if its parent company decides to bring three customized vehicles of the model to the 2012 SEMA Auto Show. Apparently, it’s tune-worthy and, judging by the models that are being presented, we’re not about to disagree with that notion.

One of these models is the CX-5 180, a project vehicle that pays homage to the carefree lifestyle of Southern California. The look itself feels like a fresh of breath air, particularly the stylized topographical maps of the iconic SoCal destinations, Big Bear Lake and Point Dume. The front doors are likewise adorned by seasonal statistics for the snow and surf hot spots, including temperatures and even GPS coordinates. Can’t say we’ve seen that displayed on a body of a vehicle before.

The colors, all of which are shades of blue, add a kind of depth to the vehicle’s looks. Dark hues of Midnight and Denim mixes well with lighter shades of Tidal Blue and Bay Blue, creating a vivid look that certainly catches people’s attention. Add dashes of Luminous Red spread across the entire vehicle to indicate roads and it makes up the entire unique characteristic of the CX-5 180. Even the custom matte red finish on the five-point grille adds a touch of aggressiveness while the satin chrome dual exhaust by Racing Beat finishes off the exterior program. And don’t forget the set of 20" black chrome alloy wheels wrapped Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires.

Inside, the CX-5 180 was dressed with an Aqua interior leather fitted onto the front and rear seats, the steering wheel, door panels, armrests, and the brake boot. That is combined with contrasting Bright White leather inserts on the door panels, steering wheel, and seats. The steering wheel even has a customized trapezoidal stitching pattern for added flair while french seam accents in red and white stitching appear on the armrests and seats finish off an interior that looks as good as the SUV’s exterior detailing.

With seemingly every automaker outside of Europe getting into the groove at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show , Mazda isn’t going to be left in the sidelines on this one.

The Japanese automaker is on hand in Las Vegas with a steady diet of customized CX-5 SUV’s, beginning with the CX-5 Dempsey.

In case there’s any confusion with what the name is alluding to, it apparently points to one Patrick Dempsey, the hotshot Hollywood actor who also moonlights as a Mazda driver in the Grand-Am series.

In dressing up the CX-5 Dempsey, Mazda opted for a glossy Grey Anatomy paint base with matching strips of Brilliant Black. Adding to the appeal of the SUV are Luminous Red graphic lines with Bright White borders and Black Mica matte finish details on the tailgate that run across the lower portion of the SUV. The CX-5 also carries a Thule Atlantis rooftop cargo box and a bike rack that carries a pretty sick performance called the Specialized Bicycle S-Work Tarmac racing cycle. Yep, that’s the same one used by Russian Olympian Alexander Vinokourov when he raced to the gold medal at the London Summer Games in July 2012. In addition, the specialized CX-5 sits on a set of 20" Mazda Design-customized black chrome alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Latitude Sport all-season tires. Each wheel, in particular, displays a single double-spoke in glossy Luminous Red, a color that Mazda only uses in limited edition cars.

At the rear of the CX-5 Dempsey, you’ll find the S-Works Tarmac SL4 Red that comes with a Carbon Satin carbon fiber frame with Red Keyline highlights and secured by a Thule T2 carrier.

Inside, there’s plenty of modifications to go around, too. Black perforated leather inserts come with gray aniline leather bolsters and red accents. This three-way color scheme is an allusion to the SUV’s dynamic exterior body colors. The interior also received a leather overload with Luminous Red stitching while the full-length decorative panel was custom painted in glossy Brilliant Black with a matching single Luminous Red outline and a Bright White vehicle model imprint.

SUVs aren’t exactly the kind of cars that attract attention from tuners, but Mazda has shown up to the 2012 SEMA Show with a number of upgrade packages based on the CX-5 , just to highlight the amazing customization possibilities for this model. One of these packages is called the CX-5 Urban - a concept car inspired by styles found in fashion and architecture.

The Mazda CX-5 Urban features two shades of Black Mica exterior paint, with the darker shade showing off multi-dimensional shadows in a triangular-like design shape. The dark night appearance of the CX-5 Urban is highlighted by Ore thin pinstripes on the matte black wheels, in the headlamps, and in the five-point front grille. The SUV sits on a new set of 22" Ace Alloy Scorpio matte black wheels wrapped in sticky Nitto Tire NT420s 295/30R20 all-season tires. The last piece of the package is a new Racing Beat dual exhaust.

After releasing the new generation Mazda6 onto the market, the company has focused its attention on the development of the next generation Mazda3 . The first details suggest that the model will arrive in Summer 2013 and will be ready for the US market as a 2014 model year.

Today, British magazine AutoExpress is dropping what appears to be the first images of the next generation Mazda3. According to the site, these are digital renderings received from Mazda to confirm what everyone else already knew: the next Mazda3 will feature the company’s latest Kodo design language already unveiled in the design of the new Mazda6.

The next Mazda3 will be offered in the same 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback configurations as the current generation. It will benefit from Mazda’s fuel-saving SkyActiv tech making it both lighter and more fuel efficient. We also expect to see an MPS version, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for confirmation of that.

The Mazda Miata MX-5 has lived mostly by one trademark since its debut in 1989: offer superior handling with capable performance. From 1989 through 2003, the MX-5 did just that, but in 2004 and 2005, Mazda broke its mold by releasing the turbocharged Mazdaspeed MX-5 in limited numbers. Combined with the revised suspension, the Mazdaspeed MX-5 gave Miata enthusiasts a little extra power to go along with the precision handling of the compact roadster.

When Mazda revamped the MX-5 Miata in the 2006 model year, it gave the Miata a bold look that it had always missed, but it also took away the option to add the famed “Mazdaspeed” badge to the model. For those that want to have their cake and eat it too, BE-Cosworth Cosworth may have the solution for you, in the form of two stages of supercharger kits for your Mk3 and Mk3.5 (2006 through 2013) MX-x Miatas.

Mazda has already announced plans to unveil a new generation Mazda3, but until that new model arrives in 2014 , the British market can take advantage of two very cool editions based on the current Mazda3 MPS. The two new models, Tamura and Venture, are priced from £15,995 (about $25,700 at the current exchange rates) and £17,495 ($28,150 at the current rates), respectively.

The new Tamura Edition will be offered with an impressive list of standard equipment: 17" alloy wheels, Sports styling kit, front fog lights, electric windows, six-speaker audio system, dual zone climate control air-conditioning, front, side and curtain airbags, and a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm.

The Venture Edition will add light gunmetal alloys wheels, a unique rear spoiler, privacy glass, 5.8-inch Sanyo TomTom navigation, Bluetooth hands-free, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control, and heated front sports seats.

Both models are offered with either a 1.6-liter MZR petrol or diesel engine, both delivering improved fuel economy by 1.4%. Co2 emissions are also reduced by 2%.

Exterior The revised 2013 Mazda CX Mazda CX -9, from what the images are showing us, will boast a much more refined face than the previous generation and Mazda’s new “KODO – Soul of Motion” design. The grille is no longer split into an upper and lower segment, and is only underlined in chrome instead of surrounded by it, giving the face a more adult, yet sporty look. We also see the elimination of the oddly shaped fog lamps on the 2012 model and they are replaced by a much more elegant-looking pair of (...)

The SEMA Auto Show is a time for tuning companies to show what they are made of and this year’s event will be anything but boring. We’ve already seen a few of the vehicles that will be headed to Las Vegas this year, but we’ve gotten word of another vehicle scheduled to appear: the Catfish Speedster developed by Bauer Limited Production.

The Catfish is based on a Mazda MX-5 Miata , but shares none of its components. All of the Mazda’s original parts have been replaced by new ones, including a new hood, trunk, doors, bumpers, and a top and convertible frame. The interior was slightly modified to make it possible for the driver to put in stock Miata seats or racing seats of their choice.

The Catfish Speedster will be offered with a standard 1.6 engine or a 1.8 NB Rotrex with over 260hp, but for customers who want a little more push, Bauer will also be offering an LS2 V8 engine. With the Speedster coming in at only 1,500lbs, we can only imagine its performance figures.

The official debut of the new Catfish Speedster will be at the 2012 SEMA Show, with a racing version set to be unveiled in 2013.

Next to the sedan model, Mazda will also be unveiling the station wagon version of the 2013 Mazda 6 at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Both models displayed at the French show will be powered by Mazda ’s new SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine and are scheduled to go on sale later this year.

The future station wagon Mazda 6 will feature the same design language as the sedan, except of course for the specific estate rear that will add more cargo space. just like the sedan, the station wagon will incorporate both the full range of SKYACTIV technology and the new KODO Soul of Motion design theme.

At its official market launch, the new Mazda6 Wagon will be offered with a choice of two engines: a Skyactiv-G 2.0 delivering 148 HP and a Skyactiv-D 2.2 diesel. The new diesel engine will be offered in either Standard Power or High Power versions and will be combined with Mazda’s unique brake energy regeneration system, i-ELOOP.
