2013 McLaren MP4-12C by Evolution Motorsport

With the debut of the McLaren P1 at the Paris Motor Show , there’s a good chance that the MP4-12C could fade into the shadows. One German tuning company, though, is determined to keep the spirit of the MP4-12C alive with a couple of performance programs that’ll make you forget the P1 even exists.

That’s a little hard to do, but still, Evolution Motorsport has built a really sick 2-stage program that bumps the MP4-12C’s output all the way up to 724 horsepower. Considering that the MP4-12C carries a 3.8-liter V8 engine that hits 592 HP and 443 lb-ft of torque, that upgrade makes for a whale of difference.

The Stage 1 kit involves a simple ECU remapping, boosting the McLaren supercar’s output to an impressive 659 HP and 501 lb-ft of torque, but that’s just the start. The Stage 2 kit also comes with the aforementioned ECU upgrade that increases boost pressure by 0.27-0.30 bar (3.96-4.41 PSI) , but also features a new stainless steel high-flow catalyst to go with a new exhaust x-pipe. The result?

Yep. 724 HP and 552 lb-ft of torque.

For the opportunity to have the Stage 1 kit installed, customers will need to spend $5,295 with the Stage 2 kit costing twice as much at $11,995.

oh, and the name. it’s like the forgot changing the code-name for it and released it like that.

i meant the fact that, for instance, lambos are very exotic, zondas too, ferraris are very good to drive and so on. this one is not extremely exotic nor is it awesome to drive.

i think the evolution motorsport have done a good job. they should get a share of the money mclaren makes by selling new MP4-12C’s now.

midocar, i disagree with you there. it is a good car that does all things beautifully. have you driven all other super cars and found this one disappointing?

this car seems very well made and well put together. but the fact is that it’s not awesome in any way. i don’t think it does one particular thing better than other super cars.

i don’t know why, but i never really liked the MP4-12C. maybe because of it’s name.

yep, the up-grades are expensive, but it’s not like you are adding them to a 20.000$ car.

the up-grades alone cost as much as a good city car would!
