The MP4-12C GT3 scored some impressive results during the 2012 racing season: 19 victories and an additional 19 podium finishes from a total of 98 race events it competed in. So it’s no wonder why McLaren decided to offer an updated version of the GT3 for the 2013 racing season. For the first time ever, the 2013 MP4-12C GT3 will be available for global competition. Teams interested can have it for a total of £325,000 - about $520,000 at the current exchange rates. For the 2013 racing season, the Mp4-12C GT3 is updated to improve drivability, reliability and efficiency. Updates include a revised aerodynamics package, an upgraded ECU with a revised electrical system and alternative dampers. Customers interested can also order this package as an update for the 2012 racing version. Updated 01/17/2013: McLaren has just unveiled the full specifications on the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3. Hit the jump for full details. Exterior and interiorThe revised aerodynamic package includes a new front splitter, front and rear diffuser and a huge, fully adjustable rear wing. The body panels are made of carbon fiber and the McLaren carbon-fiber MonoCell includes aluminum insertions at the front and rear sub-frames. On the inside, the McLaren receives a unique McLaren GT steering wheel inspired by the one from MP4-24 Formula 1 race car and, of course, an FIA-approved safety roll cage. Engine and PerformanceUnder the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3’s hood, you will find a race-prepped 3.8-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine featuring McLaren Electronics ECU interfacing with Bosch ABS and Shiftec transmission control units. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential motorsport transmission pneumatically actuated via steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The car will be offered with a set of forged-aluminum wheels sized 18-by-12 inches up front and 18-by-13 inches on the rear. The MP4-12C GT3 is brought to a halt by Akebono monoblock calipers with ventilated discs featuring six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. The car also received a specially prepared suspension system with a double-wishbone setup. It also features an adjustable ride height, camber and toe, so you can dial it into almost any track. i think brad is right. that is one tough car! stiff suspension, almost no interior. and the list can go on!
