The 2014 Pirelli World Challenge season is set to open later this month, and at least one team (that's you, K-PAX Racing) is heading to the season with a supercar->ke177 contender in the form of the McLaren 12C GT3.

For a team that has established a reputation as one of the series' most accomplished outfits, K-PAX Racing couldn't have found a more suitable race car->ke148 to have in in its garage when the 16-race season begins with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 28th through 30th.

The blue-and-gold livery used on the 12C GT3s is all about identifying the cars to K-PAX Racing, and to be honest, they look really good in those colors.

More importantly, this year marks the return of McLaren->ke284 to North American sports car racing->ke506 -- the first time, the company has a car in a North American race in the past 30 years.

“Ever since our 2007 debut in the World Challenge, we’ve run K-PAX Racing like a business. We expect to go fast and we expect to look sharp — from our cars and pit crew to our tents and trailers,” K-PAX team owner Jim Haughey said.

Evidently, they have the race cars to be serious contenders this season. So get ready; K-PAX Racing's 12C GT3 is coming to take some names at the Pirelli World Challenge.

K-Pax Racing McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in Detail

When the McLaren 12C GT3 first arrived in time for the 2012 racing season, it had one heck of a debut, accounting for 19 wins and 19 more podium finishes from a total of 98 race events it competed in. So it’s no wonder why teams like K-PAX Racing are lining up to race in these British race cars.

K-PAX didn't announce any performance updates on the 12C GT3, but in its standard configuration, the racer comes with a race-prepped, 3.8-liter, V-8, twin-turbo engine featuring McLaren Electronics ECU interfacing with Bosch ABS and Shiftec transmission control units.

Teams like K-PAX Racing paid a premium for these race cars, too, shelling out close to $520,000 just for one of them.
