At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, McLaren unveiled the latest addition to its lineup: the new P1 supercar. Now, the company announced plans to unveil a new sports car each year. The first to arrive will be placed under the current MP4-12C . Codenamed "P13," this new sports car will be a little bit more practical than the 12C; "practical" meaning it will have a trunk, of course.
The new P13 will take aim at the Porsche 911 and models like it, and McLaren will price it a little under $200k. While no significant details have been revealed, it is rumored that the upcoming P13 will be powered by a de-tuned version of the twin-turbo V-8 engine used in the 12C. We expect an output somewhere in the 500-horsepower area. On the outside, the P13 will feature design elements seen on the recently unveiled P1.
The new P13 will arrive in 2014, and McLaren hopes to to sell around 2,000 to 2,500 units per year globally.

Updated 03/27/2014: According to CarAndDriver the next P13 should be powered by a 3.8-liter V-8 engine with an output of about 500 horsepower. This should be enough to sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in about 4 seconds and up to a top speed of 185 mph. Prices will start in the $180k area. The new P13 is expected to be unveiled sometime next year.

The above rendering was fairly straightforward to create, as all of the reports point to the P13 being essentially a downsized 12C with a few cues from the P1. Nearly all of the P1 cues are up front, including the nose and headlights. We’ll continue to update this rendering as more information comes forward.
The official sketch drawn up by McLaren design chief, Frank Stephenson, gives us a pretty clear look at the side profile of the P13. We don’t know if our eyes are deceiving us, but the first time we saw the sketch, our gaze went straight to those abnormally large wheels, at least relative to the P13’s body. But once we got our bearings right, we don’t think that the sketch is properly scaled so we just left it be.
Now, as far as the design of the P13 is concerned, we definitely see some similarities to the P1 hypercar, particularly the headlights setup. The P13 also looks to ride a little higher than the P1 and the noticeable absence of a rear wing clearly suggests that it doesn’t have all the goodies that come with its big brother. Still, the staple dome-like roof is present on the P13, as is the side ducts whose design resembles the McLaren logo.
All those rumors that the P13 would carry a de-tuned version of the 12C’s twin-turbo V-8 engine are apparently true. The P13 will carry a 3.8-liter, V-8 engine that has an output of 444 horsepower. No further details on performance numbers, but if we’re to base it on the numbers of the 12C, our guess is that the P13 will also be able to produce around 350 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in about four seconds to go with a top speed of about 190 mph.
Despite being slotted below the 12C, the P13 is still one to contend with, something McLaren Automotive European sales chief, David Brimson, said as much when he described the new model as "a true high-performance sports car with the same DNA as the 12C and P1".
Arguably the most important information about the P13 is its price tag. According to McLaren, the mini 12C will retail for ₤120,000, which is about $197,000 based on current exchange rates. Expect the model to go on sale sometime in 2015 with McLaren commencing production as soon as it’s done building the McLaren P1.
The 2014 911 Turbo S comes with a 3.8-liter, six-cylinder engine that pumps out 560 horsepower and launches the sports car to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds on its way to a 197 mph top speed. With the recent spy shots showing a 991.2 refresh for the 911 , we may well see a revision before the P13 hits dealers.

With a 5.2-liter, V-10 engine in tow, the 2014 R8 V10 Plus puts down 550 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, sprints to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and doesn’t stop accelerating until it hits 197 mph (S tronic model).
