Horacio Pagani has the kind of problem we can only dream of having. The founder of Pagani was recently spotted out and about in a McLaren P1 MSO , an incredibly exclusive supercar that I can’t possibly purchase unless I win the lottery. It must be tough having to make a choice between driving a P1 and his very own Huayra .

But such is the life of a man who is embedded deep in the industry’s supercar circle. We’re not going to make an issue out of that. Besides, he probably has a reason for doing so, not the least of which could be to test out the P1 and use it to help better his own lineup. That’s happened before in the business and it will likely happen again.

Who knows what his real intentions are. What we do know is that Horacio Pagani is an awesome man with an impeccable taste in supercars. The P1 MSO he’s driving also looks incredible, especially the exterior panels decked out in chrome to go with the orange trim on the hood and the red leather interior.

British sports car manufacturer McLaren is considering a comeback to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans race for the first time since 1998. The news comes via McLaren GT boss Andrew Kirkaldy, who says the company could return to the Circuit de la Sarthe as soon as 2016. McLaren’s vehicle of choice for the race will be the 650S , Kirkaldy revealed, meaning the Brits won’t tackle the top LMP1 tier, but the GTE category instead.

"I would be very surprised if you don’t see a 650S running at Le Mans at some point and we hope to be there from 2016," he told Autosport, adding that McLaren is still waiting for The Automobile Club de l’Ouest and the FIA to finalize the GTE class rulebook for 2016. "That’s what we want to do, but we still need a set of regulations to build the car to," he concluded.

McLaren hasn’t revealed any other details, but the Le Mans-ready 650S will be based on the recently unveiled 650S GT3, which will replace the 12C GT3 in the Blancplain Endurance Series starting 2015. We expect the Le Mans-spec sports car to carry the 650S GTE moniker and share many internals, including the 3.8-liter, V-8 engine, with the 650S GT3.

The brand-new McLaren 650S was introduced at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show as a replacement for the MP4-12C. The sports car debuted in Coupe and Roadster body styles with 640 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque on tap. Powered by the same twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-8 seen across the entire McLaren lineup, the 650S comes to the market as a competitor for the Ferrari 458 and the Lamborghini Huracan. Coming into 2015, the British sports car is also getting a track suit with a 650S GT3 label on it.

Developed as a successor to the highly acclaimed 12C GT3 , the 650S will replace its forerunner in the Blancplain Endurance Series starting next year. Additionally, the new race car will get to showcase its skills in various GT races around the world hoping to match the success of its predecessor. Although it is essentially an updated 12C GT3, the 650S GT3 carries an array of newly-developed racing parts, which are supposed to make it faster and more agile on the track. Only time will tell if the 650S is worthy of the GT3 moniker, but, until then, let’s have a look at the technology behind it.

For the second consecutive year, McLaren Automotive has been awarded engine of the year, as it joins Ferrari as one of the winners of a 2014 Engine of the Year award. Ferrari won its awards in the "Above 4-Liter" class and as the "Performance Engine of the Year," while McLaren’s masterful 3.8-liter, twin-turbo, V-8 engine took home the award in the "3-Liter to 4-Liter" category, proving yet again that when it comes to engine innovation, the British supercar builder takes a back seat to no one.

The engine, technically named the "M838T," was designed and developed in collaboration with engine builder Ricardo. A big part of the M838T’s appeal is the way McLaren was able to modify its capabilities to produce a class-leading output of 640 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. More importantly, the engine not only produces supercar-level output numbers, but it’s also a highly efficient engine, capable of returning 24.2 mpg on the EU combined cycle.

McLaren uses the M838T engine in the coupe and spider versions of the McLaren 650S , the company’s newest supercar. If you didn’t know by now, the 650S is a whole lot of awesome. A big reason for its awesomeness is this 3.8-liter, V-8 engine that is described as a "wonderful piece of powertrain engineering."

Winning engine of the year in the "3-Liter to 4-Liter" category at the 2014 Engine of the Year awards is living proof of that.

McLaren Automotive is quite the busy bee at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed , where the Brits will introduce two very fast, limited-edition cars — the track-exclusive McLaren P1 GTR and the MSO 650S . But vehicles aren’t the only things on the company’s mind, as the McLaren Boutique will feature a new line of merchandising consisting of clothes, accessories and many collectibles, most of which are inspired by the design of the 650S sports car and P1 supercar .

Among these products, McLaren enthusiasts will find a pair of McLaren P1 scale models. These come in 1:43 scale, measuring about 4.2 inches, and replicate two very important P1s. The first one is the Ametyst Black version that marked the supercar’s debut at Goodwood in 2013, while the second one is the Supernova Silver example that completed a sub-seven-minute lap on the Nurburgring track. Can’t afford a real P1 or you do but can’t buy one because the supercar is already sold out? Than these replicas are your best shot at owning a P1-shaped collectible.

After much speculation and teasing, McLaren released the all-new, P1 -inspired 650S in 2014. This model takes the place of the aging MP4, and delivers a mammoth 640 horsepower. Just a few months after its official debut, McLaren released a concept version of the 650S from its bespoke arm, McLaren Special Operations. This pitch-black concept obviously caught the attention of movers and shakers, as McLaren announced right before the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed that the MSO 650S would indeed be a limited-production vehicle.

This MSO 650S draws most of its styling cues from the concept that debuted in early 2014. Its carbon-fiber side wings and rear bumper center section, and rear diffuser are all taken directly from the concept. Even the sinister black color that the concept wore when it debuted is part of the production model. In fact, the only straying this concept-turned-production does on its way to driveways is the addition of new interior bits and some featherweight wheels.

Unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show , the McLaren 650S took the sports car market by storm as the replacement for the aging MP4-12C . Woking’s masterpiece blends styling cues from both the 12C and the P1 supercar and shares the proven 3.8-liter V-8 engine with the rest of the McLaren lineup.Although the 650S is still brand-new and has yet to hit the streets at full throttle as of June 2014, the British company is reportedly already working on its successor. According to Automobile, the upcoming sports car is codenamed P16 and set to arrive sometime in 2017. Also part of the company’s new plan to introduce one new model each year by 2019, the P16 is rumored to arrive in several body versions and configurations.

Naturally, the P16 will better the 650S in all aspects. It will be more powerful, faster, more agile, and emit less CO2. Expect the P16 to mark the debut of a number of new technologies.

There has been a lot of talk about McLaren ’s known plan to launch a new model each year by 2019, but very few details have oozed from Woking, England until now. We do know there’s a track-speed P1 GTR and a more affordable P13 in the pipeline, and that a new supercar is scheduled to hit the streets in 2016 . The rest of the McLaren lineup was still a mystery until today, as Automobile managed to dig up even more details surrounding the company’s upcoming expansion.

According to the magazine, McLaren’s drawing board is already full. Besides the P13 and P1 GTR set to arrive within the next couple of years, the Brits are developing a near-supercar, likely to slot between the 650S and the P1 , as well as a replacement for the 650S. The two are reportedly scheduled to break cover between 2017 and 2019, with a brand-new sports car with a 2+2 seating configuration to follow in 2020.

Sounds like the Brits are elbows deep into their new strategy to conquer the sports car and supercar markets.

The P1 debuted in the 2014 model year with its hulking 3.8-liter V-8 and electric motor that produced a mighty 903 horsepower and approximately 1,100 pound-feet of twist. McLaren has already made it clear that there will be plenty of special-edition P1s, and in 2015 the first of these arrives in the form of a track-exclusive P1 GTR.

This new P1 is starting to take shape, as the British manufacturer has released preliminary details on the race-spec supercar . In a nod to the McLaren F1 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1995, the track-prepped P1 will carry the same GTR moniker.

But the most important fact about the company’s monstrous race car is its output. Although McLaren is mum in regard to the upgrades destined to enhance the P1’s hybrid powertrain, the manufacturer did say the P1 GTR will benefit from 986 horsepower. That’s 83 ponies more than the road-legal supercar and way more than we initially expected. Needless to say, the P1 GTR will be a rocket.

Naturally, the race-ready P1 won’t be just about enormous amounts of horsepower and torque. British engineers will also enhance the P1’s aerodynamics and increase downforce by means of an aggressive body kit. Expect the supercar to receive an extreme front apron with a prominent lip spoiler and canard, wider wheel arches for the widened track, a brand-new diffuser, and a massive rear wing. To further increase the P1 GTR’s handling around the track, McLaren is also working on a stiffer, heavy-duty suspension system that will support a set of ultra-lightweight wheels wrapped in slick tires.

Not surprising, the P1 GTR won’t come cheap. McLaren will only sell it to customers who have already purchased the road-legal P1, and they will have to fork over £1.98 million ($3.36 million as of 06/13/2014) to buy one. The sticker makes the P1 GTR two time more expensive than its street-spec brother, but McLaren is offering a full racing program with the car. The program will include private consultations with the McLaren driver-fitness team and company design director Frank Stephenson, as well as access to one of McLaren’s dedicated racing simulators. What’s more, customers will also benefit from at least six drive events to be held on certain Formula One tracks. Sounds like McLaren is finally establishing a proper customer program.

As for the P1 GTR’s availability, McLaren says production will commence right after it completes the final example of the road-going P1. There’s no actual schedule, but the 375th P1 should roll out the assembly line in the first half of 2015. There’s no word as to how many P1 GTRs will be built, but McLaren says it "will be strictly limited."

Updated 6/19/2014: In a press release, McLaren said the "latest track-focused model from McLaren GT to make world debut at 11.00BST, Friday 27 June" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The model the British automaker is referring seems to be the P1 GTR. In addition to the announcement of its official unveiling, McLaren also released a new teaser image, which you can see above. From this image, we can make out the massive rear wing even better — it looks to be a fixed wing — the Pirelli racing rubber, and the Tag Heuer and Mobil 1 decals. No other details were released at this time, but we’ll update you as soon as the P1 GTR hits the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

It was only my second day of the Gumball 3000 festivities, but this was the first official day of the Rally. There is an entire collection of famous faces, blistering-fast cars and hundreds of miles for us to traverse.

As the morning started, we lined our car up on the starting grid with hundreds of other machines to get ready for the start of the Rally. Xzibit has been a large presence in the Gumball 3000 for many years now. He did not drivie in this year’s event, so he was asked to see every car off the line by waving the official Gumball flag to start the rally.

Other famous faces at the start line included Richard Rawlings from Gas Monkey Garage , and of course Deadmau5 is here in his “Purrari” 458 Spyder with Tori Belleci of the MythBusters as his co-driver.

When the Team AnastasiaDate Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder set off the line we all piled into our Mercedes Sprinter chase vehicle and our journey had begun. Time to head to Atlanta.
