Mercedes E-Class E-Guard

Mercedes E-Class E-Guard

Mercedes doesn’t want BMW’s 5-Series and X5 Security to be the only ones having fun in the next gunfight, so the new E-Class is getting tooled up World War III with E-Guard. The new E-Guard meets the stringent requirements for High-Protection according to protection class VR4 and more. This means that the vehicle is able to withstand handgun bullets of up to .44 Magnum in calibre — at random angles of fire, to provide the most realistic protection possible.

The suspension and brakes are adapted to suit the increased weight caused by the protection features. The E-Guard is equipped with a special Level II version of the AIRMATIC air suspension system as standard. The electronic control and restraint systems that assist the driver in critical situations. The car is fitted with 17-inch wheels and run-flat tires designed for a maximum speed of about 150 mph. With the tires deflated, the vehicle is still able to cover up to 30 miles at a speed of 50 mph to enable its occupants to escape from the danger area in the event of a corresponding attack.

Mercedes E-Class coupe - official images leaked

Mercedes E-Class coupe - official images leaked

Mercedes is having no shortage of E-Class news. This month we have been bombarded with official pics and spy shots of the sedan, wagon, and coupe. Last week we were even officially shown the AMG sports pack for the sedan. Now we have even one less variation to speculate about now that promotional pics for the coupe were leaked ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

When the production car arrives in 2010, we expect Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model. After the coupe version appears in Geneva, we expect to see a hardtop convertible version next.

Mercedes E-Class AMG sports package

Dust hasn’t even begun settling on the new Mercedes E-Class sedan, and there is already a body kit for it. This one comes straight from AMG, but don’t get too excited. If you want engine modifications, you’ll have to wait for the E63 AMG.

The package consistis of an AMG front apron with large cooling air intakes, AMG side skirts and AMG rear apron. The tailpipes are also altered into various ovals or rectangles, depending on the size of the car’s engine.

Performance upgrades incude 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with 245/40 tires in the front and 265/35 tires in the rear. Perforated brake discs and silver-painted callipers bearing the Mercedes-Benz logo at the front, plus the suspension is lowered by 15 millimetres, are also included in the AMG sports package as standard.

The AMG sports package costs between €2,915 and €4,046 (about $3800 to $5800) depending on engine displacement of the car. Availability in the U.S. is a little hazy at the moment because the press release comes from AMG’s home in Germany and the pics released were with Euro-spec cars.

Mercedes E-Class Coupe spied again

Now that the E-Class sedan was officially revealed, we’re turning our attention to the Geneva Motor Show and the premiere of the coupe version of the luxury car. The latest spy shot shows that there is small rear quarter window, somewhat like what was seen on the ConceptFASCINATION. Between the glass roof and (hopefully) deleted B-pillar, the coupe should give the feeling of an open-top car.

When the production car arrives in 2010, we expect Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model. After the coupe version appears in Geneva, we expect to see a hardtop convertible version next.

Mercedes E-Class - official brochure leaked

Mercedes E-Class - official brochure leaked

The new E-Class sedan will make its world debut in just a few days at the Detroit Auto Show, but the official brochure has already hit the internet. Although we got to see some leaked official pictures of the exterior last month, the catalog goes further by revealing the car’s interior and engine line-up.

Internationally, there will be six engines (gas and diesel) across the E-Class. The gasoline line-up includes: a 1.8-liter direct injection 4-cylinder with 184 and 204 hp; a 3.5-liter V6 (for the 4MATIC model) delivering 272 hp; a 3.5-liter direct injection V6 producing 292 hp and at the top of the range the E500 powered by a 388 hp 5.5-liter V8. The diesel line-up includes: a 2.1-liter 4-cylinder engine with 136 hp, 170 hp and 204 hp and a 3.0-liter V6 with 231 hp (BlueEFFICIENCY) and 211 hp (BLUETEC). This does not include the AMG model, which we expect will be powered by a 6.3-liter V8 making 525 hp.

Mercedes E-Class Coupe spied at the airport

The next generation E-Class coupe was caught again. This time at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Maybe the car is taking the backroads to its premiere at March’s Geneva Motor Show?

This latest shot continues to suggest that this coupe will use the CLK-inspired deleted B-pillar design to achieve a stylish hardtop convertible look. When the production car arrives in 2010, we expect Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model.

Mercedes E-Class AMG Coupe caught undisguised

We’ve already seen what the new E-Class sedan is going to look like, but the coupe is just so much cooler. In fact in the latest spy shots is downright frozen.

This is the latest footage of the coupe out performing winter testing. Although the testers have no intention of rolling down the windows, hopefully Mercedes will take a page from the CLK’s book and delete the B-pillar to get the stylish hardtop convertible look of its smaller sibling.

We expect Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model. Judging by the taped over AMG badging on the cars in the video, this is latter playing in the snow.

2010 Mercedes E-Class - official images leaked

2010 Mercedes E-Class - official images leaked

When it rains it pours. Earlier today we had an almost undisguised image of the 2010 E-Class sedan, now official images were leaked on the web. Now it’s official, the future E-Class sedan will take some cues from its S-Class big brother. This includes a sleeker body than the current model, with harder crease lines and a slightly rising rear-end.

A correction from the earlier post has the E-Class sedan premiering at the Detroit Auto Show in January, the coupe bowing at the Geneva Show in March, and expect the convertible and/or AMG version to make an appearance at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model.

2010 Mercedes E-Class caught almost undisguised

There have been a lot of spy shots and renderings of the future E-Class giving a pretty good idea of what the car should look like. Now we’ve got are hands on one that is absolutly clear about what the body is going to look like. This shot car the car almost completely uncovered. The only thing hidden is the front end which has been already almost revealed in the quad-headlight ConceptFASCINATION.

From this shot we can see that the future E-Class sedan will take some cues from its S-Class big brother. This includes a sleeker body than the current model, with harder crease lines and a slightly rising rear-end.

Expect Mercedes to offer a wide variety of V6 and V8 engines, including a 525 hp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model. Although the coupe version is expected to be shown in Geneva in March, don’t expect to see this E-Class sedan full uncovered until the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
