Mercedes E-Class

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a mid-sized luxury automobile sold by the Mercedes-Benz branch of DaimlerChrysler. The model line is available with various six and eight-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The E stood for Einspritzung, which is German for fuel injection, which was a very new feature at the time the "E" first appeared in the 1950s. The E-Class is the bestselling Mercedes-Benz model worldwide.

2010 Mercedes Benz E350

This metallic Palladium Silver 2010 E350 is the perfect example of what Mercedes Benz has to offer for their entry level mid size customer who doesn’t want to trade in all the fun stuff that comes with a luxury limousine for the shorter wheelbase. Starting at around $48,000 our E350 came equipped with a sensible power package along with every creature comfort and electronic safety amenity that the German engineers could pack in, this all new redesigned Mercedes E-Class features almost every luxury that Mercedes can offer for around $60,000. With options like KEYLESS GO and DISTRONIC PLUS with PRE-SAFE, Mercedes Benz is sure that new car owners will have more gadgets then they know what to do with and enough to never get bored.

The German automaker Mercedes Benz has given their full size luxury offering a complete makeover for the 2010 model year. Gone are the old E-Class’s round headlamps and oversized wraparound taillights, in their place the Mercedes Benz design team has come up with a set of stretched out illuminated elements both front and back that completely changes the visual appeal of the new car while remaining unmistakably an E-Class. At the same time Mercedes Benz’s marketing department has managed to slash almost $5,000 from the new car’s price tag compared to last year’s model.

Even though the E Class lineup has grown to include everything from coupes and convertibles all the way up to an AMG tuned powerhouse, this 2010 E350 with its 3.5 Liter V6 making 268 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque under the hood; all new light clusters, LED driving lights and stylish 17 inch split five spoke wheels on the outside as well as the supple Ash Leather wrapped massaging driver’s seat and Burl Walnut trim on the inside is the most well rounded of the bunch. Offering a practical four door five passenger layout with plenty of storage space in the trunk, our test car also benefits from being one of the most economical of the group consuming an estimated 18 MPG around town and as much as 26 MPG on the highway. While we might have asked Santa for an E63, this is the 2010 E Class that your mother will most likely be seen in.

2010 Mercedes E-Class by ATT

The German tuner ATT has added an extra amount of aggression to the all new redesigned 2010 Mercedes E-Class by adding a bit of carbon fiber, a few vents and then virtually stretched out the back end to create a very unique looking Benz and includes everything short of a show stopping wide body kit to make the new E-Class look even more planted. Starting off up front, ATT includes a debadged carbon fiber replacement for the grill, while if you look a little lower the factory bumper is replaced with a new unit made up of larger intakes on either side as well as a pair of very fashionable LED driving lights. The front fenders are replaced with a pair of vented items that lead into a new set of side skirts and trail into the well ventilated rear bumper.

The wide narrow strip of black trim that hovers just above the bottom edge of the new ATT back bumper along with the mental image extending plastic panels at each corner messes with the car’s proportions and makes the entire rear end appear to be shorter then it actually is. The effect accentuates what Mercedes did with the new horizontal taillights allowing the new imaginary line that runs across the bottom of the back bumper to add few inches to the new E’s track. The Modified Mercedes E-Class rides on a set of 20 inch alloys that emphasize the angular theme of the body kit with their split five spoke design. Not to mention that ATT is also ready with an assortment of performance, chassis and interior bits to accommodate their customer’s wishes.

2010 Mercedes E-Class 4Matic

Believe it or not there are luxury car owners who have to deal with inclement weather on a regular basis. For those new car buyers Mercedes has just unveiled a special E-Class that was designed specifically for winter driving conditions because the purpose built E-Class 4MATIC is equipped with a permanent all wheel drive system.

The basic design concept, with the engine installed longitudinally and the transmission and transfer case becoming one integral unit, makes for a compact, lightweight power train layout that minimizes frictional losses, providing a number of benefits compared to traditional transverse layouts as used by other automakers with a selectable 4x4 mode. Fuel consumption, for instance, is between a mere 0.2 and 0.6 liters more per hundred kilometers than a comparable model with the conventional drive, and because Mercedes prides themselves on providing occupants with a first class ride, vibration and acoustic comfort meet the high standards expected of the E-Class.

The air suspension system – optional for all 4MATIC models and standard on the E 500 4MATIC – is a continuously variable, electronically controlled damping system that processes a series of sensor signals and controls each corner individually. Not only will Mercedes Benz customers experience the best in ride comfort, but they will also be able to reap the benefits of excellent handling safety and sporty agility as well.

Wald International at the 2009 SEMA Show

Just yesterday we brought you the official details on the Japanese tuners Wald International and their latest member of the Black Bison lineup, the 2010 Mercedes Benz E Class. The unique body kit manufacturer was well represented at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas with one such modified Mercedes as well as a Black Bison Edition Nissan GT-R. The Black Bison kit is characterized by a large mouth front bumper complete with projector style driving lights underlined by a bold front lip and lots of carbon fiber. The fenders are always bulged out to accommodate additional rubber leading into bolder side skirts and finishing off with some aerodynamic aids out back. Although you may have never heard of the Japanese tuner before, once you see one in real life they are unforgettable.

Mercedes E-Class Black Bison Edition by Wald

Sometimes it takes the eye of a Japanese designer to turn a high end European luxury sedan into a memorable over the top tuner car, and that is exactly what Wald International did when they expanded their Black Bison line to include the all new Mercedes Benz E-Class. Like most of their Black Bison Edition creations, this modified Mercedes is a black on black work of automotive art and features bolder body lines and more slats than a super car can shake a stick at, giving the 2010 E-Class a very aggressive look.

The entire package is made up of a new front bumper with a protruding lower lip, four large projector style driving lights and vents on either side. The front fenders stick out wider than the factory pieces and add more air extracting cutouts to the new E with a set of vents that run almost the entire vertical length of fender. Tying the front of the car the rear are a pair of bold side skirts, that lead to a new rear apron complete with integrated diffuser and cutouts for the sport tuned quad tipped exhaust. Finishing off the Black Bison body kit are a pair of spoilers, one mounted at the trailing edge of the roof and the other on the deck lid. Rounding out Wald’s take on the new E-Class are a set of their signature MAHORA rims mounted at all four corners.

Brabus B63 S

The German tuners at Brabus have gotten their hands on the new Mercedes Benz E63 AMG and transformed the high end luxury sedan into a real fire breathing beast. Thanks Brabus’ B63 S performance package, both the 6.2 Liter sedan and station wagon models are now able to deliver a maximum output of over 550 HP and are now capable of reaching a super car like top speed of 200 MPH.

Brabus makes this possible by uncorking the performance machine and letting it breathe better with a pair of high flow air filters, free flowing exhaust complete with sport cats and a new ECU to bring the factory 518 HP 6.2 Liter hand built V8 up to a 555 HP rating. As a result of the increase in power the AMG tuned E Class can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.3 seconds and thanks to eliminating the car’s electronic speed limiter, top speed goes up to 200 MPH. On the outside Brabus upgrades the E63 with a more pronounced lip spoiler up front while out back there is a new downforce inducing diffuser and a trunk spoiler. Brabus also saw fit to include a set of blistered sport fenders complete with lateral air outlets to fit their wider variety of 18, 19 and 20 inches wheels underneath. The only thing that Brabus has left to do with this AMG is to pull the motor and drop in one of their twin turbocharged V12 setups.

Video: Mercedes builds 400-meter slot car track in and around the E-Class Estate

In promoting the 2010 Mercedes E-Class Estate’s apparently spacious interior, Mercedes decided to build a 400-meter slot car race track through the E-Class Estate. It must have been a long day in the land of the Silver Arrows.

The track, with all of its 1275 pieces remarkably fitting in the trunk of the E-Class Estate, stretched for a total of 500 square meters with some parts of the layout passing through the interior of the car. The whole ‘project’ took about a day to make and after its completion, the engineers decided to test out their new ‘track’ by racing 1:32 scale DTM-style slot cars around it, with the unofficial lap record clocking in at 4m and 45s.

Check out the video and see what Mercedes does when there’s not a lot of things to do in the office.
