The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is a crossover SUV which debuted at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. The SUV was designed to compete with the Audi Q7 and in India it was launched in 2010 with a 3-litre diesel and a 5.4-litre petrol engine
It looks like large SUVs have received lots of attention from tuners at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, as now the Mercedes GL63 has been transformed into the B63 by Brabus. The kit includes a very cool aerodynamic kit, plus an additional 63 horsepower under the hood.
The SUV’s 5.5-liter Bi-turbo V-8 engine received new mapping for its fuel injection and ignition, plus a moderate increase in boost pressure. As a result the V-8 engine now delivers a total of 620 horsepower and a peak torque of 604 pound-feet. The car will now sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 174 mph.
To handle all of this extra power, Brabus installed an upgraded control module for the AIRMATIC suspension system, which drops the overall ride height by 30 mm (1.18 inches). Also added in is a Brabus high-performance braking system that combines six-piston calipers on the front and four-piston calipers on the rear with 15.9-by-1.3-inch cross-drilled rotors up front and 15-by-1.3-inch rotors on the rear.
Along with the engine upgrades, the B63 kit features an aerodynamic package that adds striking fender flares front and back, larger air inlets on the front bumper and for the rear a new roof spoiler and a new diffuser. The car will sit on 23-inch forged wheels available in three designs: Monoblock E evo, F and R. These rims are wrapped up with 305/30ZR23 tires from Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama.
For the interior, the new B63 kit adds the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara, stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit Brabus logos, aluminum peripherals (pedals, door pins and shift paddles) and precision upholstery work.
Mercedes unveiled the second generation GL-Class at the 2012 New York Auto Show, and now they have also revealed the most powerful version in the line-up: the GL 63 AMG. This new model will go on sale in November 2012.
Next to a very impressive exterior look, the new GL 63 AMG also features an AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine that delivers an impressive 557 HP and 560 lbs-ft of torque. The model can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds and goes up to a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited).

All models will be equipped with a Brabus D6S Power Diesel engine that delivers a total of 509 pound-feet and, depending on the model, an output of up to 313 horsepower. The E350 CDI Power Diesel Coupe is priced at €58,534 (roughly $75,800 at the current exchange rates) and the CLS 350 CDI Power Diesel is priced at €68,879 ($89,100). Both models deliver an output of 313 horsepower and will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. Along with the power increase, the two models will each receive a stainless-steel sport exhaust system and a set of 19-inch Monoblock F wheels combined with a set of sport springs. The CLS also gets a ride-height-lowering module and an elegant exterior design developed in cooperation with Bottrop.
The ML 350 CDI Power Diesel is priced at €71,121 ($92,000) and the GL 350 CDI Power Diesel comes in at €81,810 ($105,900), and both models pump 310 ponies from their engines. The tuner is also tossing in a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with two tailpipes, and a set of Monoblock wheels sized 20 inches and 22 inches for the two SUVs. For an extra €3,448 ($4,400) Brabus is also offering an exterior upgrade kit.

It’s been about two years since the buzz surrounding a possible Mercedes baby-SUV began and it’s taken that long for Mercedes to begin testing for their future model. The debut should now be close - we should see it sometime in 2014 - and hopefully, we’ll be getting a better idea as to what this SUV will look like.
The next GLA will be built on the company’s new MFA (Mercedes Front-Wheel Drive Architecture) platform revealed with the new A-Class and B-Class models. It will be offered in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions.
At first glance, the body of the GLA looks a lot like the A-Class, but further inspection allowed us to see the much beefier and muscular front end, a coupe-like profile, and a higher ride.
The next Mercedes GLA will be offered with the same engines and transmissions as offered in the A-Class, meaning customers will have to choose between four-cylinder petrol and diesel options.
Hennessey has just released an engine upgrade package specifically for the Mercedes AMG 5.5 liter biturbo V8 engine that will that will take your vehicle from hot to nuclear with just a few additions. The package is called the HPE700 and it increases the engine’s output from the standard 550 HP to an impressive 700 HP - hence the name.
As of right now, this engine powers the CLS63 , E63 , S63 , G63 , GL63 , ML63 , and SL63 AMG . In order to obtain this impressive upgrade, the tuner performed an HPE air induction system modification, HPE engine management calibration, and Dyno tuning. The update will get a 3 Year / 36,000 mile limited warranty. After all these updates, the V8 engine delivers a total of 700 HP at 5200 rpm and a peak torque 800 lbs-ft at 3,800 rpm.
Next to these engine updates, the tuner is also offering carbon fiber trim accessories and a new set of wheels combined with updated suspensions.
The Mercedes GL-Class entered production in 2006 and six years later, is still rolling around in its first generation. However, for 2013, Mercedes is launching a new generation of the SUV, with an improved exterior look and new, more fuel efficient engines. The new GL-Class made its world debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show and will go on sale in the U.S. in September 2012.
The new GL-Class has a more powerful and sporty appearance, thanks to its new upright radiator grille with a central star and new headlamps with LED technology. The daytime running lamps also feature LED technology and are integrated in a chrome insert in the bumper, while chrome insertions have been placed under the radiator grille.
The new GL-Class will be offered in three models: GL350 BlueTEC, GL450, and GL550. The base version is powered by a 240 HP V6, while the other two models are powered by V8 engines, with 362 HP and 429 HP.

The Mercedes GL-Class is getting ready to enter its second generation and the closer we get to the official launch date, the more camouflage is stripped away from the SUV’s body. These latest spy shots reveal a new front end with more angular headlights, a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, redesigned taillamps, and a new roof spoiler.
As for the engine line-up, the future GL-Class will get both a fuel-efficient 210 HP 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine and a 300 HP V6 for the European market, while the US will probably only get a V8 engine. The future GL550 will most likely use a twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 engine that will deliver somewhere between 400 and 450 HP. It has also been rumored that Mercedes has plans for a hybrid version as well. An optional AMG package will further increase the SUV’s performance.
Expect the new model to be launched at a major show in 2012 with sales on the US market beginning in 2013.
This, of course, is the new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Grand Edition, an intimidating special edition SUV that has been given plenty of new exterior and interior features that emphatically promotes its exclusivity or, in Merc parlance, it’s "Grand Edition-ness".
Similar to the ML-Class Grand Edition, the GL-Class version packs plenty of wonderful new features on both its exterior and interior. All these additions should make up for the fact that despite its designation, the German automaker still opted to keep the powertrains untouched.
That’s a bit of a bummer, if you ask us. But if you’re prepared to let that slide, then all the aesthetic improvements given to the SUV should prove to be enough for this particular special edition GL-Class to warrant some serious attention.
Mercedes GL-Class is a car that looks amazing in its standard version, but with a few modifications it just became incredible. The work has been made by the German tuner Kicherer who called their package GL 42 Sport Black. The package is based on the GL 420 CDI model and includes a significant power increase, but also impressive exterior and interior package.
The 4,2 liter V8 engine has been tuned to deliver an impressive 380 HP (up from 306 HP) and 663 NM of torque. In order to obtain this power increase the tuner is offering a special PowerConverter that sharpens the electronic gas pedal characteristic curve, causing the heavy vehicle to react even more spontaneously to acceleration commands and enabling powerful acceleration from the very bottom. The two end pipes of the two-pipe sports exhaust system give off a deeply evil roar.
The car is completely covered in matte black exclusive foil, and it sits on a new set of 22" wheels.
We haven’t heard from Piecha Design in quite awhile - 2009 to be exact - since they made over the Mercedes SLK , but it seems they have moved on to the bigger side of Mercedes with a new tuning package for the Mercedes M-Class and GL-Class . Their package is called the Evorian RS and includes impressive exterior and interior updates.
The exterior package of the Evorian RS is defined by impressive LED day headlights integrated into the front spoiler corners, LEDs embedded in the side sills (4 per side), high-gloss chrome aerowings, and a Quadro-4-tube exhaust conversion that includes two chrome-plated double-tube end pieces. The package is finished by 22" dp1-CC Silver light metal wheel rims in three-part style with their high-gloss polished stainless steel bases.
The tuner is also offering a lowering module produced by the H&R undercarriage specialists for vehicles with coil springs to lower the Mercedes Benz brothers by 35 mm at the front and by as much as 50 mm at the rear. This addition adds a little more aggression and sporty appeal to a set of already powerful vehicles.
