The exterior of the vehicle has been transformed with the company’s signature Widestar body kit. All this power and style allow the five door to reach 172 MPH (275 km/h).
At Los Angeles Auto Show, Mercedes announced the 2010 GLK350 will go on sale in early 2009 at a price of $34,750. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 4Matic model will start at $36,750, including shipping. Smaller and lighter than its well-known SUV siblings, the GLK features a fuel-sipping 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 268 hp, a sophisticated seven-speed automatic transmission and available 4MATIC full-time four-wheel-drive. All of these components combine to give the GLK350 an impressive 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds while achieving an 23 mpg on the highway.
Both the GLK350 and GLK350 4MATIC are matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Here is a closer look at another one of the four Mercedes GLKs that will appear at SEMA . The RENNtech GLK is inspired by the winged, unlimited-class rally cars of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The GLK Pikes Peak Rally Racer is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine combined with an electric motor.
RENNtech is using components from the latest Mercedes-Benz high-performance 3.5-liter V6 Sport engine. These include a special intake manifold, cams and cylinder heads, to which RENNtech has added its own long-tube headers, composite air intake and RENNtech ECU software. Engine output is up to approximately 350 hp (up from 268 hp). The total output is even higher when combined with the power from the electric hybrid drive.
RoBrady Design removed the roof, shorted the windshield, and lowered the ride height by 64mm. As usual with a SEMA car, there is special attention paid to wheels and tires. The Urban Whip featuresl 26” Asanti AF 150 chrome wheels with custom black accents and wrapped in 295/25 ZR26 Pirelli Scorpion rubber for a perfect ride.
What better way to launch a new car in the U.S. than by first showing the country outlandishly customized (and sometimes hideously butchered) versions of the car first? Four customized Mercedes GLK will make their way to the 2008 SEMA Show: Widestar, Urban Whip, Pikes Peak Rally Racer and Rock Crawler. This presentation also represents the GLK premiere on the North American market, where sales are scheduled to begin in January 2009.
The GLK Pikes Peak Rally Racer created by Renntech is inspired by the legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado. The car comes with hybrid module that seems to be more geared for acceleration than green.
GLK Urban Whip was created by Boulevard Customs and features a significantly widened bodyshell, massive 26-inch wheels and a new on-board entertainment system.
The GLK Rock Crawler was designed by team at the Legendary Motorcar Company. Their creation features a winch system that can provide wakeboarders and snowboarders with assistance.
Brabus will bring the most conservative design, but that’s also because it is production ready .
The base vehicle for Boulevard Customs, Legendary Motorcar and RENNtech is the series production GLK350 with a 3.5 litre V6 engine generating 272 hp, while BRABUS opted for the diesel-driven GLK 320 CDI 4MATIC. The base versions of all models are equipped with the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes delivered today the first 2010 GLK to a customer in Germany. It was a GLK 320 CDI 4MATIC in metallic tenorite gray with numerous optional equipment features - took place in the Customer Center of the Bremen plant.
Since its official release for sale on June 30th, Mercedes received 25,000 orders for the new GLK.
The GLK is powered by a choice of either four-cylinder or six-cylinder engines and features pioneering passive safety systems, excellent interior comfort and a low noise level, and excellent value retention.
Although the new Mercedes GLK was recently launched (it hasn’t even hit the U.S. shores yet), the German tuner Brabus unveiled its latest program for the GLK. The car features a new body kit consisting in a new front apron with integrated daytime running LEDs, new side sills with integrated LEDs for the safety entering and exiting of the vehicle, a new rear bumper with integrated exhaust cutters, 4-pipe exhaust system and a new rear roof spoiler.
Under the hood, with the help of the Brabus ECO PowerXtra D6 the 320 CDI 4Matic engine delivers now 272 hp making the sprint from 0-60 mph in just 6.9 seconds while the top speed is limited to 142 mph.
The V6 from the GLK 350 4Matic, with the help of the Brabus B7 power kit develops an impressive 287 hp but for those who wish more, the tuner offers the Brabus 4.0 displacement engine boosting it to 332 hp, making the sprint 60 mph possible in 6.1 seconds.
Mercedes lovers should prepare and schedule a visit to the 2008 SEMA show as the German carmaker will reveal no less than 4 new GLK concepts from Brabus, RENNtech, Boulevard Customs and Legendary Motor Cars. The RENNtech Rally Racer concept brings the first hybrid powertrain to enhance acceleration off the line and out of the corners. Brabus Widestar excels in exterior design with the GLK300 BLUETEC which features flowing front and rear wheel arch flares and redesigned front and rear bumpers complemented with exclusive BRABUS wheels and an interior to match. Boulevard Customs is preparing a wide body styling kit with massive 26-inch wheels and tires, redesigned interior and ground-pounding stereo system.
