It seems that the Volcano is a very successful model for Hamann. After the first white model and the Red Edition revealed at the Frankfurt Show, the German tuner has also created a Yellow Edition. besides the paint scheme it brings no modifications to the Volcano supercar.

The Volcano is powered by a 5.4 Liter V8 boosted from 626 HP all the way up to a clean 700 HP, this drops .2 seconds off the car’s 0 to 60 MPH time which now clocks in at 3.6 seconds and is able to reach a top speed of 216 MPH.

The tuning kit also includes a new front spoiler, a redesigned rear bumper, new side sills, a big rear wing spoiler, a new rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and 21 inch Edition Race wheels.

Video of the SLR McLaren crash over the weekend in Poland

A few days ago, we reported on that brand-new Mercedes SLR McLaren – it was a day old – getting smashed into smithereens after it’s driver, a 23-year old guy that had too much bravado for his own good, engaged in a street race with a Ferrari 599 GTB.

We all know how that turned out.

The SLR was sent careening into the opposite side of the road where it ended up colliding with several oncoming cars. Fortunately for all parties concerned, nobody was seriously hurt, although the SLR did have a young kid in the passenger seat that suffered minor injuries.

As for the idiot driver, he reportedly fled the scene of the crash and didn’t show until 17 hours later because he ‘took the kid’ to the hospital.

Here’s to hoping he never, ever does that again.

No matter how expensive your car may be, it’s safety and well-being is still not exempt from people’s stupid decisions.

Take this guy from Poland for instance. A day after his father bought a 2008 Mercedes McLaren SLR, the 23-year old crashed the day-old vehicle into three other cars. While details surrounding as to how it happened are a mystery, the guy reportedly saw a Ferrari 599 GTB out on the road and decided to challenge the 599 to a good old fashion street race. Well, judging from the photos, we all know how that went.

It’s bad enough that the car costs around $700,000, but to make things worse, the schmuck was driving with a young child in the passenger seat. The poor kid ended up getting hurt from the vehicular mishap while the driver of the SLR went AWOL for almost 17 hours before showing up again.

We feel terrible for the SLR but in this particular case, our hearts go out to the young kid who got hurt because somebody was being an irresponsible adult.

Hamann Volcano Special red IAA

The high performance tuning house Hamann has just unveiled the Volcano based on the McLaren SLR super car.

Aside from the bold new paint scheme, the Volcano wears an extremely aggressive body kit complete with bare carbon fiber fender flares and a very sharp front lip. Hamann even saw fit to incorporate a few stylish LED driving lights underneath the front air dam and a carbon fiber roof scoop up top. Now Hamann is typically known for their powerful creations, but this particular SLR is just completely over the top. What the heck. If you are going to introduce a new tuner car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, why not go all out.

FAB DESIGN modifies SLR McLaren

FAB DESIGN, a Swiss-based custom design company, took a stab at fine-tuning an SLR McLaren and it is nothing short of jaw-dropping.

The model, which they’re billeting as ‘Desire’ veers away from the standard design elements of the original SLR McLaren to make it stand out in its own right. Both the front and the rear apron of the car have been drastically altered, making it stealthier than the original. Likewise, the people at FABS also widened the body panels, and added new side skirts, To top it off, they also built a rear spoiler to complete the makeover.

We’re telling you, if Batman needed another Batmobile, he should seriously consider giving these guys a call.
