2010 Mercedes SL R230 PD Series by Prior Design

Prior Design has unveiled a new tuning package called the PD Series based on the Mercedes SL R230 and inspired by theSL65 AMG Black Series . The Mercedes was finished just in time to be viewed at this year’s Tuning World Bodensee.

Looking at the vehicle, the mixture of the Mercedes SL R230 and the SL65 AMG Black Series is undeniable. Prior Design has taken the elegance of the SL R230 and added the aggressiveness of the AMG Black Series. The front of the car gets a front spoiler with large, greedy air inlets and futuristic facelift headlights a-la-R230. The vented bonnet found on the Black Series is eliminated making the bonnet appear to be lifted straight from the R230. The side gets imposing wheel arches and a perfectly rounded rear bumper from one wheel arch to the other. The rear of the Mercedes SL R230 PD Series is a little more original and a lot more edgy than that of the two Mercedes ’ this car is based on. The trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes have been switched out for quad round tips and the rear spoiler looks to have sharper edges. It also gets a diffuser based on racing technology and the use of an Airmatic suspension to make sure the car hugs the ground appropriately. The whole package is finished with wheel rim PD1 (three-piece stainless steel outer bed, black finish).

The Mercedes SL R230 PD Series looks to be the picture of having your cake and eating it too. The engine specs were not unveiled, but we can only hope that it will carry the setup found in the AMG Black Series for a seriously thrilling ride.

Press release

Right in time for the industry trade fair Tuning World Bodensee, PRIOR design presented their latest creation – the PD-SERIES based on the Mercedes-Benz SL R230.

The self-set target of the Kamp-Lintfort company was making the "large" Mercedes-Benz roadster even more perfect. The PD-SERIES inspiration very clearly was the super sports car Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series. The result will excite every car enthusiast: Flowing lines, expressive curves, massive air inlets and muscular sides summarize the perfect PD-SERIES view.

Let us look at it in detail, starting with the front. This is where the superior width of the PD-SERIES hardly makes it possible for the viewer to avert his eyes from the overwhelming fenders. Still getting over the endorphin-filled moment surprise, the eye takes I the harmonious line flowing from the fender to the front area. Only few centimetres below the futuristic Facel Facel ift headlights, there is a front spoiler with large, greedy air inlets. The cowl with its many air inlets reaches up to the windshield supplying even high-performance motors with sufficient air.

The side area with its wide wheels is reminiscent of a muscular monster waiting to jump its prey. The side dills harmoniously connect the masculine sides to make the car look as if made from a single cast.
Going father around the vehicle, we can then see the rear, dominant due to the imposing wheel arches that make the SL seem impossibly wide. The large track of the PD-SERIES is connected by a perfectly rounded rear bumper from one wheel arch to the other, which in turn is equipped with a diffuser based on racing technology. It is available either as sight carbon or full carbon.

Finally, Prior-Design makes it possible to lower the car mechanically as well as electronically (with integrated Airmatic). Using the above wheel/tyre combination, Prior-Design also recommends optimising the suspension tuning.

The bumper and the grilles are perfect. It has wild and strong looks as well as the wheels.

Mercedes car is a luxury that cares too much on how it looks and speed is the second priority. I like the enhance look of this car. And I think they have choose a smart color for this vehicle which is black, it really look clean.

Well, I don’t think that it would be necessary to make an aftermarket version of
this car and yet it was centered with upgrades in the exterior. IMO, I think this car always look
so awesome and no need for modification.

I think is trying different kind of look and style for their cars they don’t have a distinctive look (face) just like the Dodge, Lambo and Audi. That’s why i get a little bit disappointed with the face of their car.

This is the worst company I have ordered parts from. Wrong invoice! Release my purchases to authorized freight forwarder! Refuse to take my calls on 12/30/2010! There are many better companies to buy parts from! If you want to be frustrated and MAD, buy from this ty GERMAN company!

it reminds me of the AMG Hamster just like that..

dont like this like tacky-ons, the tuner has put on this car. but so rarely has there been a tuner that has actually made the a Mercedes Benz look better than stock form. This is cheap and tacky looking, but of course it wouldn’t be Cheap to do this to your car if you had the money and absolutely no soul or taste.

At first glance, the PD-Series roadster boasts new front design. It includes restyled fenders, face-lifted headlights, new front spoiler with large, greedy air inlets and custom grill design.

The looks are very aggressive and sporty and the rims are very cool. I hope it’s tires can hold on it’s tremendous spin and temperature.
