Exterior and Interior

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe

The C63 AMG’s exterior look starts with an arrow-shaped front section with the central Mercedes star in the radiator grille and larger air intakes included in the striking front apron that ensure reliable air flow through the large cooling modules. Two openings in the aluminum bonnet support the expelling of engine heat, while a black front splitter located at the lower end helps to balance the vehicle aerodynamically.

The Mercedes also gets a newly developed front axle with a greater track width for new wings, a "6.3" logo, air outlets, and a black strip on the restyled AMG side skirts. Towards the back of the vehicles there’s a revised rear wing that was widened by 42 millimeters, due to the greater track width of the rear axle. Air openings are hinted at in front of the rear wheels, forming a fitting conclusion. Then there is a new rear apron with its expressive black diffuser insert and a new AMG sports exhaust system. The car sits on a new set of 19" AMG light-alloy wheels.

There is also red contrasting topstitching on the steering wheel, seats, door center panels, armrests on the doors, the center console and on the shift lever.

Engine

The Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe is powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 510 HP and a peak torque of 457 lbs-ft. The high-torque M156 naturally aspirated engine was fine-tuned specifically for the new two-door mode so that it now sprints the car from 0 to 60 mph takes just 4.2 seconds (all data preliminary).

The engine is combined with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports gearbox with four transmission modes, the rev-matching function and RACE START deliver maximum driving fun and a high degree of versatility. In the "Sport plus" and "Manual" modes gear shift takes a mere 100 milliseconds. The best part however is the hallmark AMG eight-cylinder sound from the AMG sports exhaust system.

Competition

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe

When we think about the Mercedes C63 AMG, the first competitor that comes to mind is the BMW M3 , but with the added Black Series, things are a little bit different due to the huge output difference between the two. The BMW M3 GTS provides a bit of a boost to match the caliber of the Black Series, but there’s still a big difference.

On the US market, a very serious competitor for the new C63 AMG Black Series coupe will be the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe . Next to an impressive and sporty look, the Cadillac is also powered by a 6.2 Liter supercharged Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 V8 that makes a maximum output of 556 HP and 551 lb-ft of torque. That equates to a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 3.9 seconds.

Well, the boost power output on this new series is good though its just appropriate for a v8 engine. I guess it would be better to test this car in the race track to measure on how far can it go!

I really feel bad in Mercedes production vehicle, for they don’t make a consistent speed performance for their sportscar. The delivered power is not that impressive plus its gas guzzler! However, its a good thing that the elegance of the car never fades.

Hehehe! That one is really rather odd. They call this one the Black Series Coupe, yet they feature a red car on the photos. But then again, the ride’s great performance is something worth it.

Of course, everyone is waiting for its launch james_patron. If a wealthy man can afford to buy this, it does not matter, even if its a gas guzzler.

The most perfect sports coupe version of a sedan for me is an Audi S4, if there is a coupe version. This, however is the most perfect now because of the absent of Audi S4 Coupe....lol

I wasn’t expecting the coupe version either. However, it seems that the speed performance of this car would be better compare to this series though it wouldn’t deliver a better fuel economy car.

I still find it odd that they call this one Black Series, yet, it is done in orange colors. Pretty weird indeed , but good think that the car actually looks very good for this one.

What, they are only going to do it in a coupe version? That one is really a bit of a disappointment, since I would want to see the sedan version. But then again, I can wait for a few more months.

For a driver that owns a Mercedes C63 AMG, I think fuel consumption is not a big deal.
The only thing that matters for those guys is the looks of the car.

Well, it’s a good thing that they are now finally releasing more info on this one. I think it has been more than four months since I last heard anything about this one.

Yeah, for a v8 engine that needs a 6.2L? Well, its really a gas guzzler. Based from
what I’ve known a regular v8 only needs a 3-4 liter. BTW, this car can be afford by wealthy
folks so I don’t think that the fuel consumption is a big deal to them!

Well, as expected from the Mercedes car, it always has an elegant styling and its a good thing that the engine performance of Mercedes car has improved! However, I think these
car can’t deliver a good fuel economy!Heck! Its gas guzzler!

I’m not yet convenience that this car has an amazing performance. IMO, when looking for a great performing car. I don’t think this is the best option. However, the design really looks awesome and clean.

Mercedes appears to its new looks of flexibility and high convincing power capability, which enable to perform better and elongated body structure.

I have seen the flexibility of this model. It looks good in roadster and in traditional version! And the price tag is cheaper.

I really love Mercedes for perfectly combining the luxurious and sportiness feel for this car! I do believe that AMG is the most beautiful version made by them.

I am pretty satisfied with the whole C63 Black Series coupe. The car itself is quite powerful and the looks are also rather great for this one.

Its a good thing they will be using the same engine as the one in the CLK63. That is quite powerful, so it will definitely give some added oomph to the car.

Thank goodness, they are now finally releasing official details about the Black Series coupe. I have really been wanting to know more about this car, since they have announced it a few months back.

Good thing that they are adding a ton of custom options to this one. Many folks will definitely like this, since they will be able to tailor the car to their liking.
