2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

Back in 2008, Mercedes was looking to expand its market to include the younger population and they decided that the best way to do that was to offer a C-Class Coupe alternative. That project led to the birth of the CLC whose success in the market was more lackluster than bedazzled. Now, Mercedes is at it again with a much more simple approach to meeting the needs of the younger generation. This simple - in the best sense of the word - vehicle is the C-Class Coupe , and Mercedes is even taking a stab at an AMG version. This is certainly a good thing because, well, the BMW M3 Coupe needs a real competitor, right?

The new C63 AMG Coupe will join the current AMG Coupe and will be put on sale this July in Europe, while on the US market sales will begin in September 2011. The first units will be sold as the "Edition 1" and will be offered with exclusive equipments.

UPDATE 05/24/2012: Mercedes’ "Thank You - 2 Million Times" video generated some positive feedback and many people have requested to see the uninterrupted drift footage. Questions were even asked as to if the C 63 AMG Coupe actually drifted the corkscrew or if it was creative editing. Mercedes is offering the answer to this question with a new video. Enjoy!

Exterior

Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

Like with all the other AMG models, the C63 AMG Coupe is defined by an aggressive, sporty look. The sports coupe will get an AMG front bumper, AMG radiator grille with a chrome inserts, a specific AMG bonnet, AMG-specific LED daytime running lights, side skirts, and a rear bumper with diffuser insert. The sporty character will be accentuated by an AMG sports exhaust with two chromed twin oval tailpipes. There will also be a ride lowered by around 40 millimeters, a sports suspension, and speed-sensitive AMG sports steering.

The car will be defined by low profile, powerful shoulderline and a narrow C-pillar. Other key styling aspects are the short overhang, long bonnet, steeply raked windscreen and long, stretched out roof. The wide front wing will get the "6.3 AMG" legend, while the car will sit on new 5-twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a high-gloss finish.

Interior

For the interior, AMG will offer AMG door sills, AMG sports seats, AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather on the top and bottom flattened with aluminum gearshift paddles and AMG instruments, including an AMG race timer and start screen. The interior will be upholstered in a faux leather combination ARTICO/fabric or optional designo leather (one or two tone). There will also be an electronic rotary switch for selecting the four driving modes and the Race Start function.

The specially shaped AMG performance steering wheel has been adopted from the CLS 63 AMG. It has flattened top and bottom sections, a metallic trim element, grip areas which are trimmed in perforated leather, and aluminum shift paddles. Trim elements in high-gloss, black piano lacquer on the dashboard instrument panel, center console and doors emphasize high quality. Situated on the center console is the rotary control for selecting the C, S, S+, M transmission modes and RACE START.

Engine

Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

Like with the sedan version, and despite previous speculations, the C63 AMG Coupe will use the same 6.2 liter V8 engine with a total output of 457 HP. Customers will also have the choice of opting for a performance package that will increase the total output to 487 HP. The C63 AMG Coupe will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and in 4.4 second with the AMG performance package.

The engine will be mated to AMG’s new SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission that offers three different modes: "S" (Sport), " C" (Comfort), and "M" (Manual).

One Minute, Pure Sound

When Can We Buy It?

On the European market sales will begin in July at a starting price of €72,590 ($102,500 at the current exchange rates) or €77,231 ($109,100) for the "Edition 1". Prices for the US market will be announced at a later date.

Competition

Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

The greatest competitor for the future C63 AMG Coupe will be the BMW M3 Coupe . The Bavarian model develops a total of 414 HP and is priced at $58,400, so we expect a similar price tag for the Mercedes Mercedes model. While Mercedes has revealed no official images on the new C63 AMG Coupe, we want to believe it will get the same look as the sedan version, adapted to a coupe model of course. If this is true, then it will make the Merc better looking than the current M3, on both interior and exterior. However, BMW is already preparing the next generation M3, so the question is: does Mercedes have enough to smash the success the M3 is already having on the market?

It’s okay for this to be limited since speed isn’t of much importance here.

I’m deeply awed by the reliability and durability it has.

The stability it offers is priceless. Who needs a powerful car when it crashes most of the time?

I wonder why no bi-turbo? I really must say that this is quite pleasing to the eye. Its sporty but still it retains the typical luxurious mercedes look. Its definitely nice but the bi-turbo would’ve made it better.

Although it comes with a top speed, to me, it’s enough to know that it is powerful. One automotive needs not to be always super fast, as long as it is high-performing and stable.

I love the exclusivity of its interior and even the decency on its exterior appearance. However, it is very disappointing that its engine will come only by a limited top speed, and I really wonder why?

It looks like a BMW vehicle on that platform, especially with its mileage on its front hood. However, it still looks classier and sophisticated than with BMW and powerful either. smiley

The mileage of this coupe is truly looking so perfect and elegant on this vehicle, and I really love the exclusivity of its interior! Anyway, the rumored before about this one is that it would be a bi turbo engine. Where is it now?

This coupe is truly looks so elegant and classy on its detailing! Well, it really deserves to be talked about! smiley Anyway, I’m also glad that it had an impressive engine specification.

This new coupe of Mercedes is really no doubt, a good-looking car, and I must say that the decency that its appearance had adding more appeal to it. Well, the whole packaged with it, is somewhat very impressive.

The interior of this coupe is absolutely very striking, but I think they should have used more alive color on its interior touch. Anyway, as for the exterior appearance of it, I can say that I’m totally satisfied with it.

It’s still looked so elegant for me, in spite of having only a simple detailing, and I have to agree that the hygienic body paint of it, is absolutely very striking for it, and I’m glad that it also had an impressive engine.

Yeah, right! I can say also that this one is absolutely a good-looking car on its decent appearance, but looks so classy. Even the interior of it, is kind of impressive, and I’m glad that it had a striking engine.

I bet this one will surely love by all car lovers! smiley Mercedes are really great when it comes on a good-looking and a very classy car and when it comes into the interior, you will never get disappointed on it.

Just like what I’ve expected on Mercedes, this C63 AMG Coupe of them is absolutely a classy car, and its ethical exterior look is really captivating and with its V8 engine, I bet it can surely have a better performance.

They are right that the platform and the styling is so simple for a concept car, the interior features seems so awesome also even its decency.

Admittedly, it has an awesome styling for its exterior as well as on its interior. They are good in making a coupe version. Hell! The speed performance of the car is very impressive! I hope to see a remove speed limit for this car.

Mercedes car really makes the most elegant and luxurious vehicle. I think its just a bonus if they the car have a high speed performance. And I guess that’s the weak point of this car manufacturer, they are not consistent when it comes to engine performance.

No wonder why the Mercedes have stayed in the line for almost a century now. And I think as the years passed their car is getting better . I have seen their evolution through their works.

Well, the good thing about Mercedes car is that, although the platform were the same still the elegance and consistency of the speed retained in each and every production car. BTW, for this car I bet the Americans have enjoyed driving around this car.
