When you’re looking for an aftermarket company with a penchant for understated programs, rest assured, Brabus isn’t one of them.
There’s nothing understated about this German tuner. On the contrary, their reputation as one of the most over-the-top tuners is well-earned. At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show , Brabus is bringing another project that backs up its reputation.
The program is called ’B63S-730’ and it’s for the CLS63 AMG , a car that doesn’t seem to lack in output in its own right. Apparently, Brabus isn’t content with just 557 horsepower and 589 pound-feet of torque, so they slapped on a pair of uprated turbochargers with larger compressor units, an additional water-to-air intercooler while they also remapped the ECU software and added a new stainless-steel sports exhaust with high-flow cats and adjustable butterfly valve.
All in a day’s work too, we imagine.
As a result, the CLS63 AMG’s 5.5-liter bi-turbo V-8 engine is screaming in delight, thanks to an improved output that nets the car 730 horsepower and 763 pound-feet of torque, numbers good enough to get the CLS63 AMG to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph.
Aesthetically, there are plenty of new components too, highlighted by a clear-coated carbon-fiber front spoiler and fender vents. Brabus also offers a choice of 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels, including the nine-spoke Monoblock F and ten-spoke Monoblock R Platinum Edition forged wheels. Likewise, the CLS63 AMG’s interior also received its share of enhancements. We particularly like the soft Mastik leather with quilted stitching as upholstery on the seats, the panelling and the floor mats. The material itself - Matsik - sounds so exotic, right in line with the reputation of Brabus as a true exotic tuner.
